Briefly Rehab for Zambo PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III on Thursday said the government is readying P3.89 billion for the rehabilitation of villages that suffered intensive damage during fighting between government forces and a faction (supporters of Nur Misuari) of the Moro National Liberation Front. “P3.89-billion ang tinataya kailangan nating gastusin. Meron na tayong nakahanda na P6.1-billion, so may sobra pa,” the President said in a radio interview in Zamboanga City, heard live nationwide. The P6.1 billion contingency fund is allotted for rehabilitation projects, including the construction of temporary bunkhouses, cash-for-work programs, and educational assistance.
Registry system THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) here on Friday urged the city government and the local government units to implement the Skills Registry System (SRS) in all the barangay units in Northern Mindanao. Alan M. Macaraya, regional director of DOLE, said that the SRS is a computerized data system that aims to create a readily available data that will aid in addressing the country’s growing problem on skills-andlabor mismatch. Based on the June 2013 National Statistics Office record of unemployment rate in Region-10, the number of unemployed has climbed to 7.5 million from 5.6 million unemployment rate data in January 2013 Macaraya blamed the escalating unemployment in the region due to labor-skills mismatch.

S business operations are back to normal in Zamboanga City, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said there is sufficient supply of currency to spur economic activity despite the armed conflict in parts of the city.
Although the local branch of BSP in Zamboanga City still closed yesterday, BSP Deputy Governor Diwa C. Guinigundo said it could be reopened to supply the needed requirements of the banks. “The BSP is also monitoring that because we also have a branch in Zamboanga. We have been ensuring the banks get regular shipment of currencies,” Guinigundo said. “ The ATMs are also regularly replenished so any disruptions in economic activities will be minimized. Former Congressman Constantino Jaraula said he was stunned when his name was included among t h e C on g re s s m e n w h o reportedly benefited some P20 million out of the alleged “pork barrel” scam in Congress. Ja r a u l a v e h e m e n t l y denied any involvement saying he could prove his innocence in court. Jaraula suspected that the pork barrel scam was an orchestrated scheme perpetrated by ambitious politicians who were aiming for the 2016 presidential elections. The NBI charged Jaraula for allegedly misusing his P20.84 million Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF). “I never transacted or closed deals with the nongovernment organizations (NGO) under the control of Janet Napoles who has earned the moniker as the “pork barrel queen.” Jaraula said that his PDAF was intact and properly used for various projects when he served as a congressman in the lone district of Cagayan de Oro City from 1998 to 2007. jaruala/PAGE 11
