The Cagayan de Oro Police Office received threats days prior to the bombing incident last week that killed eight (two died in the hospital on Monday) people and injured 47 others at the Rosario Arcade, part of the Limketkai complex in Lapasan, this city. Police Supt. Graciano J. Mijares, the city’s Chief of Police, confirmed receipt of the threat and that the local police intelligence unit and police operatives acted on the report promptly. Police ‘traumatize’ bombing victims CAGAYAN de Oro City-Organizers of the convention of doctors and pharmaceuticals on Tuesday evening appealed to the police to be courteous in the conduct of interviews to the victims of the bomb explosion here on Friday evening. The appeal was made after the families of the victims and wounded were further traumatized the way they were getting interviewed by the police investigators. Aillen Aniceto, President of the Philippine College of Chest Physicians (PCCP) Northern Mindanao, said that a group of doctors who already went home to Manila complained of alleged police harassment while police interviewed them. “Victims na nga eh, hinaharass pa, (They’re already victims and yet they’re still being harassed),” Aniceto said. She did not mention the name of the police investigators. Aniceto appealed to the police to be courteous in conducting interviews in aid of investigations - “not that they (police) would treat doctors and victims like criminals.” “They (bombing victims) were now traumatized,” Aniceto added. Aniceto, however, said that she could not talk about specific because the victims were just complaining about what happened when they were subjected to police questioning. She said that the victims who were reportedly harassed during questioning have no plans to file charges against the police officer. “What we really wanted is for the police to observe bombing | page 11
