Suspect in the killing of Iligan broadcaster falls CAGAYAN de Oro City--The police has arrested the primary suspect in the shooting to death of a radio commentator in Iligan City sometime in August this year, Iligan City Mayor Celso Regencia said on Monday. Regencia identified the suspect as “Aniceto “Bing” Galvez,” reportedly a hired killer and known as the most wanted criminal in Iligan City. He said that Galvez reportedly confessed to be responsible in the shooting to death of Fernando Solijon, a radio commentator, who was shot on his way home after attending a birthday party of another broadcaster in Iligan City. Regencia said that the police arrested Galvez Thursday last week at his house in Benitez Compound in Iligan City two days before the city observed the annual fiesta celebration.
He said that the police still need enough evidence that would corroborate the alleged admittance of the suspect in the killing of Solijon. “Sumala sa mga otoridad nga si Galvez gihapon ang mipusil sa broadcaster nga si Joe Pantoja niadtong 2007,” (The law enforcers also tagged Galvez as the suspect in the shooting of Joe Pantoja, another broadcaster in Iligan City, in 2007), Regencia added. In an interview with the PNA, Pantoja urged the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and Iligan police to turn-over the suspect to the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 39 in Cagayan de Oro City. “I have filed an attempted murder against Galvez and two of the suspect’s alleged companions identified as Romeo Vequizo and Romeo Ragasajo with the RTC in Cagayan

Pantoja, who came from Cagayan de Oro City survived six bullet wounds while were working as a radio commentator-anchorman in a radio station in Iligan City in 2007. Pantoja feared that the attempted murder case he filed filed against Galvez, Vequizo, and Ragasajo would end up nothing on allegations that an influential politician has reportedly instructed the NBI and the Iligan police not to turn over the suspect to the Cagayan de Oro City Court. Pantoja refused to name the politician for security reason. He hinted that the alleged “politician turn protector” of the suspects holds a top government position in 2007 until at present.
