Briefly Oil price cut INDEPENDENT oil players will adjust prices of their fuel products starting 6am today in line with the movements in the international petroleum market. Seaoil Philippines Inc. said it will implement a P0.55 per liter cut on the prices of its gasolines Extreme 97, Extreme 95, and Extreme U on October 8, 2013. However, price of the Exceed diesel will go up by P0.35 per liter during the same time. Also, PTT Philippines Corp. said prices of its gasolines namely Performa, Superb, and Eco Gas will be slashed off P0.55 per liter while the price of Dynamic diesel will go up by P0.35 per liter. Petron said price of its gasoline products will be cut by P0.35 per liter while price of its diesel will increase by P0.35 per liter.
Uncertified products THE Department of Trade and Industr y (DTI) discloses 20 companies that have been found selling uncertified products. Ac c ording to Almer R . Masillones, head of Consumer Welfare Division of DTI Misamis Oriental, these companies are based in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Region III Central Luzon. She said that DTI head office found various traders from NCR and Region III selling products that did not undergo the Product Certification Scheme of DTI’s Bureau of Product Standards (BPS). Among these uncertified pro d u c t s were m oto r c yc l e helmets, LPG cylinders, flat glass, galvanized iron and black iron pipes and equal leg angle steel bars.

World Bank raises growth forecast for Philippines THE World Bank on Monday upg raded it s econom ic grow t h forecast for t he Philippines for this year, seeing nearly seven percent growth over the next two years.
In its East Asia a nd Pacific Economic Update, the Washington-based lender said the Philippine economy, as measured by its gross domestic product (GDP), would grow by seven percent
this year, up from an earlier projection of 6.2 percent made last May. Philippine GDP grew by 7.6 percent in the first half of the year, exceeding the government’s target of 6-7
percent for the entire 2013. “Amid the challenging global environment, the Philippines is expected to sustain higher growth in the medium term,” the World Bank said.

AVAO City – The Aboitiz Power Corp. will be using an environmentfriendly technology in one of its two-unit 300-megawatt coal-fired power plant currently under construction in between Brgy. Binugao, Davao City and Brgy. Inayawan, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.
The P25-bi l lion coa l pla nt, which w i l l be operated by Aboitiz Power’s subsidiary Therma South Inc. (TSI), is expected to start commissioning by the last quarter of 2014 and fully operational by 2015. One
