Briefly Sea turtle A LAWMAKER has urged Congress via a piece of legislation to declare a major nesting site of the endangered green sea turtle in Tawi-Tawi as a wildlife sanctuary. Rep. Ruby M. Sahali of Tawi-Tawi’s 1st district filed House Bill 2771, which seeks to declare the Turtle Islands in Tawi-Tawi as a Protected Area (PA). T h e Tu r t l e I s l a n d s , which was established as a marine sanctuary by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 171 on Aug. 26, 1999, is among the only 10 breeding grounds for green sea turtles in the world, hence the need to protect them. The bill places the PA under the control and administration of a Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) and empowers PAMB with functions such as to conduct studies on various characteristic, features and conditions of the Turtle Islands Wildlife Sanctuary.

Oil price cut PETRON Corporation cut fuel prices starting yesterday. Petron announced that effective 12:01 a.m. of October 27 (Sunday), it decreased price of diesel at 50 centavos per liter, kerosene at 45 centavos per liter, and gasoline at 40 centavos per liter. Petron added that oil price adjustment included the provinces of earthquakeaffected Bohol and Cebu. (PNA)

HREE ports in Mindanao are set to undergo rehabilitations as soon as the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) completes the bidding process, according to a bid invitation published in newspapers.
