NGCP shifts campaign versus grassfire By MYRNA VELASCO, Contributor

Rainy Monday THE Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said a mix of sunny and rainy weather will continue to prevail across the country this week. PAGASA said cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms will be experienced over Mindanao and the provinces of Mindoro and Palawan due to the presence of intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ). ITCZ, or thick clouds coming from the south of Asia, is considered a breeding ground for low-pressure areas (LPAs) or potential cyclones.

TAKING a bit of break from its usual right-of-way (ROW) complaints, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) is taking

its information drive this time against grassfire incidents that may affect the reliability and efficient operation of its transmission facilities.

“NGCP is going all out in informing the public of the damages and adverse effects of grassfires on transmission facilities,” the company has noted. ngcp/PAGE 11
