Energy outlook DAVAO City -- From 2018, Mindanao will be experiencing excess power supply with new power plants being completed. This according to Mindanao Development Authority Director for Investment Promotions and Public Affairs Romeo Montenegro. Guesting at the weekly Habi at Kape media forum in Abreeza Mall today (May 11) Montenegro said that new power plants being set up in Mindanao will answer the current need plus the growth in demand. After which in 2025 if no power plants will be set up the power supply and demand will be equal. This year, Mindanao will get an additional 550 megawatts from coal-fired plants these include; the 150 MW unit of the Therma South Incorporated Davao coal plant the San Miguel power plant in Malita will have two units of 150 megawatts each coming online this 2016.
High voters turn-out VOTERS turnout already reached 60 percent after 1:00 p.m. on elections day in Cagayan de Oro City. In an interview with NAMFREL Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro City chapter revealed that people really came to the polling precincts to vote. Marlon Libot of NAMFREL Clean Inc. said that by 1:00 p.m., more than half of the voters in the city have already casted their votes. He also shared that COMELEC had come up with good innovation for this year’s election. Among them is the putting up of waiting areas at polling precincts. He said this allowed people to have a place to sit while waiting for their turn to vote and emphasizing to prioritize the senior citizens, persons with disabilities and pregnant women.

HE current energy officials are drafting several policy recommendations that they would have to lodge to the next administration for consideration. In a briefing with reporters, Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Zenaida Y. Monsada said “we are drawing up in written form the recommendations after elections.” As of press time, the leading Presidential contender in the unofficial
