Low tax collection ZAMBOANGA City -- A top official of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) disclosed that the agency may not be able to meet its P2.4-billion target collection of taxes for this year in this city due to some reasons. BIR Revenue District Officer Cresencio Agad disclosed that one of the reasons is the lack of personnel to collect taxes and the target collection goal is too high for this city. Agad said there are also problems “within and outside the bureau.” He did not elaborate. “It is difficult to realize the target collection for the whole year. When I started here, we are already short as of September. These past two months when I am already assigned here, it is the same, the collection was also short from the monthly target,” Agad disclosed.
