Briefly Pinoys’ optimisms FILIPINOS’ optimism about the qual ity o f thei r l i v es and the economy reached new record highs during the second quarter of 2016, the Social Weather Stations (SWS) said. The SWS survey conducted from June 24-25 showed that 49 percent of Filipino adults nationwide were expecting an improvement in their quality of life in the next 12 months. Only 3 percent were pessimistic. These brought net optimism at “record very high” at +46. The survey, conducted a week before President Rodrigo Duterte took his oath of office, also indicated that 60 percent of Filipino adults were hopeful that the Philippine economy would be better in one year.
Credit loans SURIGAO del Norte -- To act on the credit needs of agrarian reform beneficiaries, nine Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations (ARBOs) here qualified for credit assistance through the Agrarian Production Credit Program (APCP) of the government. DAR-APCP officer Luningning B. Ycoy said the APCP’s main objective is to provide credit assistance to farmer-organizations not yet eligible for loans under the existing regular lending programs of the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP). “The program will likewise address the credit needs of existing farmer-beneficiaries who are not yet accessing production loans from formal credit markets,” Ycoy said.

PROPOSED body that will serve as the backbone in establishing the proposed railway system in Mindanao is taking headway with a bill filed by Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny ” Angara creating the Mindanao Railways Corporation (MindaRail).

DAVAO Cit y -- D avao Region’s economy slowed down in 2015 compared to its performance in 2014, a report from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) showed. During the 2015 Report on the Economic Performance of Davao Region at the Grand Regal Hotel Thursday, PSA 11 chief Ruben D. Abaro Jr. said the region’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) stood at 7.9 percent. In 2014, the GDRP was 9.3 percent. But the figure was higher than the region’s target of 7.5 percent, he noted.
