Briefly E-cigars THE Electronic-Cigarette, also known as the E-Cigarette, is more harmful than the common cigarette. This was explained by Dr. Jocelyn Torrecampo of Department of Health (DOH) Region 10 during the meeting last week of the Cagayan de Oro City Council committee on health and sanitation and health insurance chaired by Councilor Maria Lourdes Gaane. The committee discussed updates on the proposed SmokeFree CdeO ordinance. It may be recalled that the inclusion of the e-cigarette in the ordinance was proposed.

Citizen’s charter IN line with Republic Act No. 9845, otherwise known as the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007, the Cagayan de Oro City Council during its regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy approved Resolution No. 126592017, adopting the city’s revised Citizen’s Charter. RA 9845 is an act to improve efficiency in the delivery of government service to the public by reducing bureaucratic red tape and preventing graft and corruption. It mandates all government agencies including departments, bureaus, offices, instrumentalities, or government-owned and/or controlled corporations, or local government or district units to set up their respective service standards to be known as the Citizen’s Charter in the form of information billboards which should be posted at the main entrance of offices or at the most conspicuous place, and in the form of published materials written either in English, Filipino, or in the local dialect.

ITH a growing interest from potential investors, Mexican Ambassador Julio Camarena Villaseñor said Mexican companies have signified the interest to explore investment opportunities in Mindanao in areas of agriculture, tourism, hotel, and health.

“We are looking at all over Mindanao. Mindanao is one of the fastest growing areas in the Philippines. We keep our optimism because find the entrepreneurial approach of the Filipinos very active,” he told reporters. He added that they expect more Mexican investors to meet with their counterparts in the country to discuss possible investments that will strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries in terms of trade and investments. “I think so many new (potential) investors coming weekly,” he said. He added Mexican investors are interested in cement, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), information technology (IT), telecommunication, and manufacturing. mexican/PAGE 11
