Briefly Farm -to - market roads THE Department of Agriculture (DA) is seek ing bid s to construct six farm-to-market roads in Misamis Occidental and Lanao del Norte under contracts worth a total P19.74 million. The DA said that the following farm-to-market roads would be built in Calamba, Misamis Occidental: a 287-meter road worth P2.766 million in Brgy. Singalat, a 200m road worth P2.01 million in Brgy. San Isidro, a 108-m road worth P1.085 million in Brgy. Magcamiguing, and a 210-m road worth P2.061 million in Brgy. Calaran. In Lanao del Norte, an 840-m farm-to-market road worth P8.865 million would be built in Poona Piagapo, and a 340-m such road worth P2.955 million, in Pantar.

Brownouts get worse as power supply dips August 7, 2013

INDANAO’S already deficient power supply further gets deeper with one of Steag State Power, Inc. (SPI) generators has to undergo an unscheduled shutdown starting July 29 due to technical problems, the company statement said Monday.
SHUTDOWN. Steag State Power Inc. contributes at least 20% of power generation mix to the Mindanao grid. But with one of its two units under preventive maintenance work and another generator experiencing problems, longer brownouts are now imminent in many parts of the island.
This is on top of Steag’s rout ina r y prevent ive maintenance works on one of its two 105MW units which began July 27 up to August 24.
Based on Nat iona l Grid Corporation of the Philippines’ (NGCP) power outlook for Monday this week, the country’s second largest island group’s power
supply deficit for the day stood at 65 megawatts (MW). This, after system capacity totaled to 1,218 MW while system peak is expected at 1,283 MW. On the contrary, Luzon, which is the largest island group, has a n expected reserve of 1,113 MW while Visayas has a projected reserve of 274 MW.
