Andanar keynotes 3rd MDN Journalism Awards By MARK FRANCISCO

COMMUNICATIONS Secretary Martin Andanar exhorted Communication students in Northern Mindanao to continue their dreams and passions in becoming professional journalists and communicators someday.

In his keynote address during the 3rd Mindanao Journalism Excellence Awards in Cagayan de Oro City, Andanar said that journalists are the country’s “influential movers.” “But since you’re still students, invest in reading. Aim to be an excellent journalist. Engage in substantive discussion. Let the next reader of primetime news, the next famous writer come from your ranks,” he said. DAVAO CITY – Despite oppositions from environmental groups, the Mt. Apo Natural ParkProtected Area Manage-

ment Board (MANP-PAMB) is pushing through with the opening of Mt. Apo to trekkers on April 12 but vowed it will make the areas destroyed by the massive forest fire last year “off-
