Cash award for board top notch gets support By LAKAMBINI DIAZ Contributor
CAGAYAN de Oro City––The move to extend cash incentive award to native Cagayanons who topped national licensure board exams gets support from the city’s legal counsel here. Donald Delegencia, the city’s legal counsel, said that cash incentive award would
encourage the city’s student to strive for academic excellence in order to have a better chance to top the government’s board examination. He said that the cash incentive award is authorized under Republic Act 7160 or the Local Government Code of 1991 that even the local government workers could avail of the award under Section 458
of the code. The City Council has sought the legal opinion of the city legal office on the extension of the cash incentive award to board exam top notch undertaken by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). City Councilor Nadia Emano-Elipe has proposed the approval of an ordinance that would extend cash incentive
awards to board examination top notch after noting that some students of the local universities and colleges here have landed in the top 10 board passers for the past years. The local august body, however, has yet to come up with the possible amount that would constitute as a cash incentive award to top 10 board examination passers.

THE Philippines experienced -24% year-over-year decline in online hiring between March 2015 and 2016, according to the latest round of Monster Employment Index (MEI) Philippines. This is a 16% improvement from -40% annual drop reported between February 2015 and 2016. Sandiganbayan orders arrest of North Cotabato governor DAVAO City -- The Sandiganbayan First Division issued a warrant of arrest Tuesday against North Cotabato Gov. Emmylou “Lala” Taliñoo-Mendoza for a case involving a procurement of diesel by the provincial government. The anti-graft court said “sufficient grounds exist for the finding of probably cause for the purpose of issuing a warrant of arrest against the accused.” In a resolution last April 8, Ombudsman Teresita Carpio-Morales found probable cause to charge the governor for the procurement in 2010 of diesel worth P2.4 million for 49,526.72 liters. The fuel, purchased from a gas station owned by the governor’s mother, was used for one road grader and four dump trucks during a two-day road rehabilitation work. No public bidding took
