It all started with a white tee, vintage accessories, and a classic pair of denim jeans. Inspired by the timeless simplicity of Calvin Klein, our team wanted to highlight natural beauty while also embracing the unique personalities and styles of our models.
With the fall season in full swing, everyone at our shoot was eager to begin creating. Vintage accessories and statement pieces were prepared as the team readied their lights and DSLR lenses.
“I’m all about the simple, 90's, clean-girl aesthetic”, says model Alexis Mincey in response to her take on the Calvin Klein inspired theme. Alexis’ style advice: “Wear what you feel best in and try different things to find what makes you feel most confident.”

“I’m so excited to do more creative editorial photography this year,” says returning model Jada Cruz. Some style essentials that are her go-to’s: “low rise jeans, sambas, and lip gloss”.
Downtown “street style, with baggy, comfortable, and fun pieces” is how model Ava Chase describes her approach to everyday fashion. Ava believes that “natural beauty is all about having fun” and not taking yourself too seriously.
As a fashion merchandising major, it’s such a fun opportunity to get in front of the camera”, says model Kailyn McCarthy. “This is my first time working with Style On Point and I’m so excited!”

Calvin Klein has revolutionized streetwear by crossing over everyday looks with a sensual twist. Since the beginning, they have been a staple in the fashion industry, and in the US, Calvin Klein does luxury like no other. The brand is known for making luxury relaxed and realistic, shifting the focus from highprofile to low-key, with minimalistic pieces ensuring that the everyday person can look and feel their best while sporting highend looks. Sensuality and minimalism are the key.
They began the fashion transformation in the late 1980s and into the 90s by incorporating selfexpression into their brand. Their boldness and non-conforming attitude have influenced and transformed the fashion world forever.

Calvin Klein revolutionized modern fashion by blending everyday looks with timeless luxury Street style gained prominence in the US in the late 80s. They have many famous, controversial ads featuring celebrities in everyday clothes. Some of these celebrities include Kate Moss, Mark Wahlberg, Brooke Shields, and Eva Mendes. Seeing celebrities in these minimalistic styles makes people like you and me feel part of the movement. Fashion isn't just bold patterns, bright colors, and statement piecesfashion is whatever you want it to be. The success and execution of CK inspire us to believe dreams can become a reality.

Our goal for this issue was to combine minimalism with athleisure, taking inspiration from the 1990s with our black and white Calvin Kleinesque photoshoot from September and our very own Princess Di. Our social media is flooded with trends and fads; month by month, there is something new to obsess over, and we want to express the importance of timelessness with the simplicity of a white tee and a pair of blue jeans. Our theme of timelessness also goes along with our Princess Diana spread, where we feature Spring ’24 cover girl Ava Chaise, with newcomers Lexi Holmes, Hannah Davenport, and Shelby Danilson, as we all know, the impact Princess Diana has made for generations to come.
A special mention to our creative and brilliant editor, Maddie Berl, for you have been such a wonderful and insightful addition to this magazine, and we wish you a journey full of happiness and success.
To our readers, thank you for your endless support, we hope you enjoy flipping through these pages and reading our thoughtful articles as much as we had putting this issue together.
As Executive Editor, I've watched SOP transform from a small campus publication into a powerful voice in collegiate fashion journalism. The creative energy that’s rooted in our team never fails to inspire me – from impromptu brainstorming sessions to late-night deadline pushes where we all band together to create something extraordinary. Each week brings new challenges and opportunities that push us to innovate and excel in our coverage of the fashion world
When I first joined the team as a transfer student, I barely knew anyone or have ever been involved in something like a student run fashion magazine. Now, I'm leading editorial meetings where we discuss emerging student writers and sustainable fashion trends The growth in my writing has been remarkable – I've learned to craft compelling article layouts that go beyond just describing clothes to working closely with student writers as an editor.
What truly makes this experience special is our incredible team. We've become more than just classmates; we ' re friends who celebrate each other's successes and support one another regardless of opinion in fashion trends
Whether we ' re covering trending purses on campus or how to be a sustainable clothing shopper, the collaborative spirit among our staff continues to amaze me. These friendships have become one of the most rewarding aspects of my role.
For anyone passionate about fashion and journalism, getting involved with a college magazine is an invaluable opportunity. It's not just about building a portfolio – it's about finding your voice, developing leadership skills, and connecting with others who share your enthusiasm.

The significance of body language in Calvin Klein's photoshoots showcases the brand's identity, speaking volumes in confidence, rebellion, and intimacy. In the early years, it embraced minimalistic style differentiating itself from maximalist trends. By collaborating with photographers Richard Avedon and Bruce Weber, Klein used black and white photography to capture the sleekness of the brand. The 90s underwear campaigns with models like Mark Wahlberg and Kate Moss showcased more suggestive poses. These campaigns sparked the brand's iconic status. This shift towards inclusivity included models from different backgrounds, sizes, and genders, changing fashion worldwide.
CK’s signature relaxed stance is one of most defining poses in modern advertising. The pose is a lounging and reclining feeling, where models convey that confidence can be natural and unique to each person. The models' subtle touches and relaxed hands show vulnerability, creating an effortless feel. This vulnerability makes them appear approachable rather than statuesque. Unlike other campaigns where models appear stiff and covered in makeup, Klein keeps models in 'human' state to connect viewers with fashion.

Body positivity in Calvin Klein has been prominent in their marketing since the 2000s. Its movement from traditional beauty standards to a diverse cast has promoted body acceptance within the fashion industry. Casting models with different shapes, sizes and ethnicities has changed the exclusive industry standards to showcase the beauty of today's generation. Plus sized model, Paloma Elsesser appeared in CK One Fragrance campaign revolutionizing the brand - a positive and confident body that speaks to a different audience of viewers.
Female body positivity is about empowering women to embrace their natural bodies and challenge beauty standards. Women, including myself, have struggled by comparing themselves to models in magazines wondering if their body is accepted by this generation. With the inclusion and exposure of this new generation of models, women are finally realizing that they are perfect just the way they are. Thanks to CK’s campaigning, women are feeling more accepted and comfortable in their own skin than ever before.

In the fashion industry, less is usually more, and nowhere is this philosophy more evident than in Calvin Klein' s classic photoshoots. Each article and accessory serves a direct purpose. The only visible aspects shown are the model’ s garments, but one thing stands out: the bold waistband logo. It is the focal point of the shoot. It is intentional.
Notice how the models are captured in a way that feels natural? The point of this is to strip away distractions and focus solely on the chosen pieces. The basic tees and tanks paired with the quality denim reflect Klein’ s commitment to timeless yet polished beauty. The audience is meant to take the pieces as they are without the need for over-the-top embellishments.
The idea behind these stylistic choices is to emphasize quality over quantity; it should look effortless. From the neutral tones of the clothing to the minimalism of the backdrop, this Style On Point photoshoot emphasizes the balance between simplicity and impact.
Style is found in restraint, not excess.
