Going for Gold By Carly Peters

Maric Homes sought to explore

The 4,000-square-foot walkout is a thoroughly modern dwelling with clean, sleek lines, and an abundance of ethereal atmosphere, creating

naturally illuminated textures and surfaces from the moment you step inside. The front entrance has a continuous view through to the rear of the home, which features two full storeys of glass, while the silhouette of a glass and wood staircase with dressed fir timbers overhead is in the forefront. The great room is defined by a soaring two-storey feature wall with staggered maple sheets, and bordered by a sunken den with builtin banquette seating, featuring custom upholstery and dressed timber fir offset from the ceiling above. Dividing the den and the great room is a three-way, fully tiled fireplace.

The fully finished lower level is just as warm, with floating fireplace, over nine-foot ceilings, a bespoke, one-of-a-kind wine cellar and bar, and access to the lower deck, which is below a secondary deck that juts off the great room. While they are active in the fall Parade of Homes, Maric Homes is also looking toward future builds in exciting new developments such as Waterford Green, northwest Winnipeg’s newest community. Waterford Green puts forward a new standard of community planning with strong emphasis on quality living, connectivity, park, and street aesthetics.

“What I think we’ll see is a wide range of housing types that will blend into the existing area,” states Dan Rolfe of Maric Homes. “Like many of Winnipeg’s new communities, you will see a great balance of parks and green spaces all close to shopping, public transit, schools, and adjoining neighbourhoods. Maric Homes is happy to be part of this growth in Winnipeg, and we look to continue to bring a new home product to the marketplace that meets the need of the area and the discerning customer.”

Step up into the raised kitchen and dining room, which boasts a staircase at the threshold, temperature controlled wine cellar, and a large nook with a view over the lake. Featuring five bedrooms, the home’s expansive master bedroom hosts an ensuite with a giant, curbless, two-person shower, jetted tub overlooking the lake, and a two-way fireplace.
