AN EVENING WITH JD SOUTHER Grammy-nominated JD Souther has penned countless hits for the Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Roy Orbison, James Taylor, Don Henley, George Strait, Trisha Yearwood, and Brooks and Dunn, while also finding success as a solo artist. This led him to being inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 2013 and becoming one of the most celebrated songwriters of his generation. On his latest studio album, Tenderness, Souther creates a perfect balance of understated jazz with the ineffable pop narratives that have been the backbone of much of his greatest work.

Over 25 years ago, the Side Street Strutters formed with a focus on performing the musical traditions of early New Orleans jazz and became a popular attraction at Disneyland. Today, the same core members are still together and have expanded their musical palette. Their latest project, Vinyl Jazz, A Century Celebration, marks the 100th Anniversary of recorded jazz. Joined by vocalist Meloney Collins, The Strutters invite audiences to enjoy a potpourri of jazz, pop and R&B melodies that have shaped our musical landscape – songs that inspired, lyrics that reflected a particular time in our country’s history, and melodies that played a significant role towards the development and enjoyment of American popular music.

For more than two decades, Gin Blossoms have defined the sound of jangle pop. From their late 80s start as Arizona’s top indie rock outfit, the Tempe-based combo has drawn critical applause and massive popular success for their trademark brand of chiming guitars, introspective lyricism, and irresistible melodies. GEORGE WINSTON George Winston is one of the best known performers playing contemporary instrumental music. His early recordings Autumn and Winter Into Spring were platinum records, helping to establish the Windham Hill record label in the early 80s; he has released two recordings dedicated to the music of Vince Guaraldi. Renowned for his solo piano performances, his main influences currently are the New Orleans R&B pianists Professor Longhair, James Booker, and Henry Butler.

OTTMAR LIEBERT & LUNA NEGRA

Ottmar Liebert’s incredible global success often seems like a simple outgrowth of his cultural background and powerful wanderlust in his formative years. Born in Germany to a Chinese-German father and Hungarian mother, he began playing guitar at 11, and traveled extensively through Europe and Asia intent on fully absorbing each musical tradition he encountered.

In 1989, he settled in Santa Fe, New Mexico and founded his band Luna Negra. Nouveau Flamenco was born, beginning with a self-produced local release called Marita: the rest is history.

NOUVEAU AMENCO ELEGANT GYPSY 40TH ANNIVERSARY ELECTRIC TOUR

Al Di Meola has celebrated a career that has spanned four decades and earned him critical accolades, three gold albums, and more than six million in record sales worldwide. A bona fide guitar hero, perennial pollwinner, and prolific composer, he has amassed over 20 albums as a leader while collaborating on a dozen or so others with the likes of the fusion super-group Return to Forever (with Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White), the celebrated acoustic Guitar Trio featuring fellow virtuosos John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucia, and the Rite of Strings trio with bassist Clarke and violinist Jean-Luc Ponty. And, at age 60, this guitar hero seems inspired to begin a new chapter in his career with the release of Elysium.

THE PREMIER ABBA EXPERIENCE ABBA Fab is the product of the hit Broadway musical, Mamma Mia!, which demonstrated the renewed interest in the music of ABBA. Since ABBA Fab’s early days, the show’s growth has been exponential.

The group has gone global, including performances at the ABBA Museum in Stockholm, Sweden, the world-renowned Spago Beverly Hills, the Navy Shipyards in Chicago, and tours with several of the world’s premier cruise lines.

The influence of Paco de Lucía on flamenco guitar has been compared to that of Andrés Segovia’s on classical guitar. Here, his longtime collaborator and producer (and 10-time Latin Grammy winner) Javier Limón reassembles the ensemble that toured with the legend throughout the final 10 years of his career. Come for an evening that honors the master’s legacy while paving a new path into the future of flamenco.

FLC WORLD MUSIC ENSEMBLES

MERICA’S FAVORITE COWBOYS Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature, the stage version includes all of the wonderful songs written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice.

The original Broadway production ran for over thirteen years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical. This production by El Dorado Musical Theatre features colorful costumes and sets, stunning choreography, and exceptional performances. It is an ideal event for the entire family.

Under the direction of Philip Angove, FLC’s World Music Ensemble emphasizes instrumental traditions spanning several millennia, with origins on six continents and Oceania, both ancient and contemporary.

As political tension, ethnic division, war and corruption tore apart the cultural fabric of Pakistan, the town of Lahore — once a haven for musicians and other artists — ceased as a cultural mecca. That is, until the establishment of Sachal Studios in 2004 as a place where traditional musicians could create again, if at great personal risk.

LEE ROCKER FOUNDING MEMBER OF THE LEGENDARY STRAY CATS Lee Rocker and the Stray Cats sold more than 10 million records, garnered an astounding 23 gold and platinum records worldwide, were music video pioneers of the MTV generation and secured their place in the history of rock and roll. Since then, Rocker has been consistently touring, recording and performing around the globe. He is known for making his upright double bass appear as if it were a lightweight instrument as he spins, throws it in the air, catches and plays it on stages throughout the world.

The Los Rios Police enforce parking regulations 7 days a week/ 24-hours a day. Parking permits are required for all events and are issued automatically with your ticket order. Permits are not provided for free events. Accessible parking is available and vehicle must display both a valid accessible placard/license plate issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles AND a campus parking permit issued by the Harris Center.
