Dear Family and Friends of Stuyvesant High School,
Department of Education
Chancellor David C. Banks
Anticipation can be a strong motivator and to always have something to look forward to can bring an extra burst of excitement especially near the conclusion of the school year. The Spring Gala, the annual celebration organized by our Parents' Association (PA), is our "look forward to" event in which we come together to collectively share our joy, goodwill, and bond with one another as members of the Stuyvesant c01mnunity.
Every year, our Stuy PA creatively (and some would say magically) delivers a Spring Gala celebration that reminds us of why we work so hard every day, every year to elevate the opportunities and resources we can offer our dynamic young people. The Spring Gala brings together the school's rich diversity of families, staff, and partners, who share in our commitment to excellence by spotlighting the exceptional achievements of our scholars, student-athletes, performers, debaters, writers, coders, scientists, leaders, musicians, and every category of pursuit our students aspire to be.
The Spring Gala is an evening where the shining examples ofachievement of our students, who consistently demonstrate their excellence in all areas of school life-in the classroom, on the stage, or on the field, are on full display. Whether winning in competitions locally and nationally in Chess, Robotics, or Debate, performing in theater or music productions under the new lights and sound in the Murray Kahn Theatre or even in the Lincoln Center, or filling our gyms with the Public Sports Athletic League (PSAL) city championship banners, our students continue to stretch themselves in ways that matter. The pursuit for excellence is encouraged in all endeavors our young people choose because we know it requires a commitment to hard work, a resolve to deal with adversity, and a vision to see themselves in spaces and places they may not have occupied before. Simply, the pursuit for excellence is the pursuit ofexperiences that are meaningful for our students, and the Spring Gala is our reminder of how your generosity affords the opportunities that enrich their lives.
I cannot thank our parents, families, alumni, and partners enough for the incredible work you do every year to bring us together to celebrate all that makes Stuyvesant such a meaningful experience for everyone involved with our community. Your partnership allows our young people to aspire and to inspire so that we continue to remain in awe of who they are and all they will contribute to Stuyvesant and beyond. Thank you for pursuing excellence, too.
Sincerely, 5?1--

Dear Friends,
Itiswith greatpleasurethat Ijoinyou in celebrating Stuyvesant High School's annual Spring Gala.
Tonight we honor Stuyvesant High School'sembraceoftbecultures andcommunities whichmake New York the vibrant and exceptional place we call home. We see these communities reflected in a student body and faculty made up ofmany backgrounds and hailing from all five boroughs, but united in their driveand aspirations.
Stuyvesant High Scbool's long commitment to academic excellence bas guided generations of New Yorkers into leadership roles in science, mathematics, government, law and the arts. Such leadership, however, must be tempered by the "intellectual, moral and humanistic values necessary" to guide with the empathy and compassion which Stuyvesant sagely centers as part ofits mission. This combination ofacademicrigor, moral characterand adiversestudent body is what bas allowed Stuyvesantto flourish formore than 100 years as a cornerstoneofNew York's public schoolsystem.
I wish also to acknowledge the invaluable work of the Parents' Association (PA) of Stuyvesant High School and their more than five decades dedicated to supporting exceptional educators and the thousandsofstudents theyserve.

Dear Friends:
On behalf of the constituents of New YorkState's 55th Assembly District, it ismy honor to welcome everyone totheSpring Gala hosted by the Stuyvesant High School Parents' Association.
I havelong been an admirer of the school's commitment to excellenceineducation. Itis a commitment that has been woven into thevery fabricofthe school's historythat spans more than 100 years. The Parents' Association since its founding a half century ago has supported thousands ofstudentsand parents, providing a sturdy bridge between them andthe school.
More than 3,000 studentsattend Stuyvesant HighSchool-about a thirdofthem from Brooklyn where Iwas born and raised. About half of the families withstudents enrolled at the school qualify for freelunch, an indication ofthe ongoing effort todiversifyenrollment.
As a parent and aproudgraduateofone ofthecity's specialized high schools, Iwouldlike to offer my services as a resource inthe continued effort to increase representation in our elite schools, including Stuyvesant. Every child's future matters. Every educator matters. Every parent matters.
It is my sincere hope that the Stuyvesant High School Parents' Association has an overwhelmingly successful gala. And, ofcourse, I'd like tocongratulate the Parents' Association for raising funds to supportcollege counseling, equipment and services that some families simply can't afford. It is an effort thatis worthy ofemulation across the city.
