WELCOME TO NORTHERN

Our method for success is simple: Provide excellent educational experiences and unmatched opportunities for personal growth in nurturing and supportive environments.

Combine this with an abundance of fresh air, endless forests and fresh water for adventures, and you are ready to begin a rewarding new chapter of your life.

Accessible formats and communication supports are available, upon request.

We acknowledge that we are on the traditional and territorial lands of the Cree, Oji-Cree, Ojibway and Algonquin homelands. We acknowledge these ancestral lands that we are gathered on, which continue to interconnect us all and remind us that we are all treaty people. First Nation communities now located on these lands include: Temagami, Timiskaming, Matachewan, Mattagami, Apitipi Anicinapek Nation, Taykwa

STUDENT LIFE

When we talk about “campus life” at Northern College, it’s so much more than classrooms or halls. We’re talking about the energy of people learning and collaborating, creating and sharing. This is where you’ll realize your potential — academically, socially, and creatively.

The most popular student life events at Northern College include NOWCHA, Indigenous Week, and winter activities such as skiing and tubing. Working together with Northern College Student Association (NCSA), the year is filled with a variety of local and internationally inspired events.

The Northern College Student Association (NCSA) is for students and led by students. As a student-driven not-for-profit organization, the NCSA seeks to create a warm and inclusive experience where everyone is welcome and celebrated.

Every student pays an activity fee which means you are automatically a member of the NCSA. Throughout the year, the NCSA rolls out a calendar of services, events and activities to build connections, promote joy, and bring the community together.

NCSA directors also make key decisions that affect you. So get involved!

As a student, you have the right to vote for the Executive Board. We encourage you to take it a step further and run for a position yourself. After all, there’s no better way to improve your leadership skills and fully enjoy the Northern Experience than by getting involved right from the start.
