HAILEYBURY CAMPUS & AREA
Set among the rolling hills of picturesque Lake Temiskaming, our Haileybury Campus is located in the City of Temiskaming Shores, a community comprised of three towns with a total population of just over 10,000.
Temiskaming Shores features many of the amenities you’d expect from an urban centre, including a vibrant downtown, museums, art gallery, live theatre and multiple live music venues. It’s an ideal spot for outdoor enthusiasts, whether you enjoy golfing, camping, horseback riding, downhill or cross-country skiing.
The Haileybury Campus features the world-renowned Haileybury School of Mines (HSM), Practical Nursing, Social Service Worker, Instrumentation and Control, Business and Office Administration programs, and the ultra modern Veterinary Sciences Centre.

KIRKLAND LAKE CAMPUS & AREA
Nestled in the heart of North Eastern Ontario, Kirkland Lake (KL) hosts award winning festivals and concerts all year long. The community’s largest festival of the year, the Winter Carnival, was recently declared one of Ontario’s Top 100 Festivals.
The community is home to active hockey, soccer, baseball and figure skating clubs. Fans of the outdoors will also love the local beaches at Crystal Lake and the campgrounds of beautiful Esker Lakes Provincial Park.
The School of Welding Engineering Technology at the Kirkland Lake Campus enjoys an international presence as a leader in welding education and training. The campus also offers programs such as Environmental Technician, Early Childhood Education, Practical Nursing, and Business programs. This is where it all began! Northern’s first campus is Kirkland Lake.

Only steps away from beautiful Porcupine Lake, the Timmins Campus Residence features a large, bright common kitchen with many separate cooking stations, laundry facilities, lounges, and a game room.
Outside gathering areas for camp fires and barbeques also make this residence homey and welcoming. Enjoy the beautiful and well-maintained nature trails in your front yard around Porcupine Lake.
We also have rooms with special layouts for accessibility requirements. Each room includes private three-piece bathroom, bed, desk, chair, lamp, closet, drawers, and connections for telephone, cable TV and Internet for your home away from home.

HAILEYBURY RESIDENCE
The Haileybury residence is a beautiful building, located next to the scenic Rock Walk Park, just steps away from the main Haileybury College building. This dorm has 16 townhouse style apartments designed with accessibility in mind and can accommodate up to 64 students.
Each fully furnished apartment has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and living area as well as laundry facilities and storage.
Living on campus gives you access to the Veterinary Sciences Centre, and athletic facilities, as well as the library, which is also a local branch of the Temiskaming Shores Library.
You will enjoy making new friends in your comfortable and wellequipped home away from home located just up the hill from Lake Temiskaming.

PLACEMENT
Placement typically refers to a period of practical work experience that students undergo during their academic program. The primary purpose is to provide you with hands-on experience related to their field of study in a real-world setting. It helps bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
CO-OP (COOPERATIVE EDUCATION)
Cooperative education programs integrate academic study periods with work experience in relevant industries or organizations. The main objective is to provide you with a wellrounded education that combines theoretical learning with handson experience, promoting a deeper understanding of their field and increase you employability.
CAPSTONE PROJECT
A capstone project is a culminating experience that typically occurs near the end of a student’s academic program. It involves completing a significant project or assignment that demonstrates the integration of knowledge and skills you acquired throughout the program.

CLASSIFICATION OF INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAMS CODES & POST-GRADUATION WORK PERMITS
Northern College is making it easier to choose your new program by adding Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) codes to the program information on the college website. These CIP codes are listed on the specific programs under Programs & Courses. Please note that not all of the CIP codes associated with Northern programs are included on Immigration, Refugees Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) Eligibility CIP code list. Additionally, IRCC’s list of eligible programs may be updated from time to time without notice.
Students are encouraged to look up the CIP code for their chosen Northern College program on our website and then search this code under the Field of Study Requirements section on IRCC’s website to verify PGWP eligibility.
For international students who submitted their study permit application before November 1, 2024, there are no field of study requirements, but they must meet the English proficiency requirement.
For applications submitted on or after November 1, 2024, students must meet both the English proficiency requirement and graduate from an eligible field of study to qualify for PGWP.

Information Systems Business Analysis
Develop critical skills in areas such as: application software, business data analysis and modeling, customer engagement management, business processes, enterprise resource planning, and communications.
Supply Chain Management
Through the Work placement experience, students will enhance the understanding of Supply Chain and Logistics learned in class and practice the business skills in the real-world.

Addiction and Mental Health Worker
In a collaborative lab environment, you’ll hone your communication, listening and crisis intervention skills — while gaining an awareness of the complex causes and impacts of mental health issues and addictions.
Child & Adolescent Mental Health - Flexible
Offered exclusively as a online part-time program, this certificate will allow you to empower the youth in your care, and help them transcend their challenges.
Early Childhood Education
In a vibrant group setting, discover effective strategies to nurture children’s development through creative approaches tailored to their natural growth stages. Culminate your learning with a 600-hour fieldwork placement, preparing you for success.
Social Services Worker
Northern’s evidence-based curriculum reveals the complex influences that affect human development and behaviour. Theory will be put into practice through a series of clinical labs and a 15-week placement with a social services agency.


HEALTH SCIENCES PROGRAMS
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
In collaboration with Laurentian University, graduates will earn a BScN degree from Laurentian University while completing all four years of study at Northern College. You’ll gain first-hand experience with new technologies, develop clinical reasoning judgment skills, and engage in active learning experiences, and understand emerging healthcare trends.
Fitness and Health Promotion
Becoming a certified fitness professional will allow you to work in both public and private sectors with specialized groups of people like children, the elderly, or with professional sports organizations.
Medical Laboratory Technician
You’ll master the various tests and equipment used to measure vital signs. You’ll develop the professional bedside manner that’s so critical for close patient contact. Plus, you’ll get experience at various local laboratories as part of your placement.
Personal Support Worker
Develop a solid code of ethics, hone your communication skills, and master the medical terminology and care protocols you’ll need on the job.
Practical Nursing
In the final stage of the program, you will select your preferred areas in which to experience your preceptorship. You will be matched with a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) and work alongside them to put it all together. It all wraps up with a placement in a healthcare facility.
Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees
This one-year certificate program allows you to prepare for a variety of future careers in the health sciences and lays the groundwork for Northern’s nursing and paramedic programs.



EMERGENCY SERVICES PROGRAMS
Paramedic
The curriculum focuses on leadership and communication — along with core courses in ethics, anatomy, physiology, pathology and pharmacology. In a risk-free lab setting, you’ll practice responding to calls based on real-life scenarios.


Northern’s Emergency Services programs are delivered in our unparalleled state-of-the-art Integrated Emergency Services Complex (IESC).
Our programs are delivered alongside working professionals in Firefighting, Emergency Medical Services/Paramedics, and Policing Services used by the City of Timmins to keep people safe every day.
As a student here, you will have the unique opportunity to interact with trained professionals working in their field and learn from them as you study.

ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIES PROGRAMS
Bachelor of Computer Science Degree with Algoma University
This diploma-to-degree program allows you to graduate with a college diploma and degree combining computing theory with a hands-on, project-based approach. You’ll gain a big-picture understanding of the industry and its standards.
Computer Engineering Technician
The hands-on curriculum means you’ll literally assemble and configure a computer. On a broader spectrum, you’ll learn to develop, maintain and optimize networks, systems and software.
Computer Programming
The first 2 semesters are offered at our Timmins Campus, offered in a hybrid format, while the final 2 semesters are offered in partnership with Algonquin College’s AC Online Campus. You will develop and master skills for Linux server administration, and database management systems.
Cybersecurity
Broaden your leadership skills in the areas of risk analysis, vulnerability management, and cybersecurity law and ethics. Gain real-world experience through a cooperative education work term.
Construction Engineering Technician
Combining architecture with civil, structural and mechanical engineering, you’ll learn how every aspect of the building process fits together — all in preparation for a rewarding career in consulting, construction, management, maintenance, and more.

Mechanical Technician – Industrial Millwright
From mining, aerospace and auto assembly, to breweries, food processing, power stations, and more, you’ll be able to diagnose, repair, maintain and install a full spectrum of industrial machinery and components.
Mechanical

In an apprenticeship environment focused on teamwork, personal safety and problem solving, you’ll be trained to meet the challenges of today’s increasingly complex work environments.
Motive Power Technician – Heavy Equipment
Be prepared to apply your knowledge to analyze and solve heavy duty equipment system problems. You will learn how to diagnose and repair mechanical, electronic and electrical heavy duty equipment components and systems using a variety of troubleshooting techniques and testing equipment to support heavy equipment operations.
Heavy Equipment Techniques
In a hands-on environment focused on teamwork, personal safety and problem solving, you’ll learn to diagnose and service a variety of power system problems — including hydraulic, electrical, electronic, fuel, braking, steering, suspension, and more.
Mechanical Technician - Welding Fitter
With a hands-on apprentice-style curriculum, you’ll spend 3 semesters learning how to diagnose, install and maintain a wide range of industrial machinery. And along the way, you’ll learn to fabricate and weld a variety of parts and shapes — including cones, chutes and hoppers.
