HAILEYBURY Considered cottage country, this picturesque waterfront campus overlooking beautiful Lake Temiskaming and in close proximity to the Quebec border, our Haileybury Campus is home to our popular Veterinary Sciences, well-regarded Haileybury School of Mines, strong Instrumentation and Control programs, impactful Practical Nursing, Social Service Worker, and Personal Support Worker programs, as well as a dynamic array of offerings from the School of Business, including Office Administration and the well-established Law Clerk program.

KIRKLAND LAKE Built on the beautiful Canadian Shield and close to the Quebec border, our Kirkland Lake Campus is home to the internationally-recognized School of Welding Engineering Technology, a leader in the field of welding education and training. As North Americaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s first authorized International Institute of Welding training body, our Kirkland Lake campus is recognized for its commitment to excellence in all programs offered on site, including Environmental Technician, Early Childhood Education, Practical Nursing, Police Foundations and a range programs from our School of Business. The Kirkland Lake campus is also home to the Northern Training Division common core and upgrading programming.

MOOSONEE Perched just south of breath-taking James Bay on the Moose River, our Moosonee satellite campus serves learners in the north as a link to our Centre of Excellence for Trades and Technology at our Timmins Campus, providing high skills training in Technology, Health, Trades and Apprenticeship programs to Indigenous James Bay coastal communities.

TIMMINS Rooted in the heart of the gold fields, our Timmins Campus offers various programs in the fields of Business and Office Administration, Community Services, Engineering Technology and Trades, Health Sciences and Emergency Services. MOOSONEE Known as the gateway to the arctic, Moosonee is a historic community with an open and welcoming feel. Surrounded by endless miles of wilderness and muskeg, Moosonee is a springboard to a number of James Bay coastal communities, offering first rate fishing, hunting and camping experiences throughout the summer months.

TIMMINS A world-renowned gold producer, aptly dubbed the ‘City with a Heart of Gold,’ Timmins is a friendly town with both an urban and rural landscape. Footsteps from the abundant Northern wilderness and natural beauty, it’s the perfect location to foster learning and personal growth. Timmins offers a healthy balance of livable city and natural adventures, offering students plenty of social connections with easy access to weekend camping getaways. It’s one of the only mid-sized cities in the world where snow machines can be seen around town to get from one place to another in the winter.

YOUR PATHWAYS. At Northern College, we’ve got a lot to brag about. Small class sizes, great learning facilities and fantastic faculty, warm, welcoming campus communities and that doesn’t even include the wonderful backdrop of Northern Ontario. Our programs are employment focused; you have access to direct learning opportunities. Sure, we’ll teach you the concepts behind the work you’ll be doing in your chosen field, but we’d much rather give you the tools, the project and let you put those concepts to the test as soon as we can. For us, this mantra is at the heart of everything that makes a College education a fantastic option. But what if you could take the College foundation, and turn it into a University Degree? We call it an academic pathway, but you’ll call it a fantastic opportunity! Northern College has a number of these academic pathways with dozens of Universities in Canada and overseas, specifically tailored to give you a world of options on your educational journey. Here’s one way it could work: Let’s say you enroll in our two-year Mining Engineering Technician program and complete your two years at Northern. Once you’ve received your diploma, worn your cap and gown, you can head straight out into the working world no problem, you’ve got the training you need to succeed in the modern world of mining and mine engineering.

However, let’s say you’re not ready to do the 9-5, or you’d feel a lot better with a degree backing you. You can seamlessly transition to Queen’s University’s Bachelor of Engineering Technology and end up with a degree in two years. It’s the perfect balance, you get two years of practical, hands on training and another two years of the kind of University level education that will help give you that leg up as you enter the working world. Sound like an awesome opportunity? INNOVATION HUB. Renovations are now underway in the Lower F Wing of Timmins campus, that will produce an immersive experiential learning, entrepreneurial, research and commercialization space called the Innovation Hub. The Innovation Hub will be mining technology and adaptation centric with a mandate to produce highly qualified personnel and business improvement solutions. This will include the development of over 23,000 sq.ft of shop space, including a manufacturing shop, prototyping lab, core logging and exploration shop, virtual reality lab, and an alternative energy lab.

With a focus on providing programs designed to impart relevant knowledge, in-demand skills and the well-developed skills required to succeed, our Business programming will help you build a solid foundation for a future career. Thanks to our numerous pathways and academic upgrading options, you can quickly turn what you’ve learned at Northern into a fulfilling career in a variety of specialized fields. Our programs and delivery options let you choose what is right for you. Whether you’re interested in studying full-time, part-time, in-class, through distance learning, or through a combination of styles to suit your unique needs. Many of our programs offer Fall, Winter and Spring start dates so you can begin your studies when the time is right. COLLABORATIVE LEARNING Some of our business programs are offered through the Northern Colleges Collaboration Program (NCCP), a collaborative learning opportunity between Northern Ontario’s six publicly funded colleges (Boreal, Cambrian, Canadore, Confederation, Northern and Sault), which provides increased student access and flexibility through common curriculum and course outlines. SOCIAL SERVICE WORKER PROGRAM The Social Service Worker program provides you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to work with individuals, families and communities who may be dealing with a stressful or traumatic event. You will learn effective crisis intervention strategies to develop the necessary skills to assist clients in addressing challenging situations, while enhancing their social functioning. Experiential learning opportunities such as clinical practical labs and fieldwork placements, provide you with practical opportunities to apply theoretical learning. EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS Early childhood educators are professionals who work as members of multidisciplinary teams that may include behavioural therapists, speech pathologists, consultants, parents and school representatives. In this program, you will research, plan, carry out and evaluate a full range of program and curriculum activities designed to help individual children reach their full developmental potential. PATHWAY OPPORTUNITIES Northern College’s School of Community Services has an extensive list of transfer agreements with universities in Ontario, across Canada and abroad. Our articulation agreement with Algoma University provides our Social Service Worker and ECE graduates with the opportunity to pursue an undergraduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or Community Development.

ENGINEERING TECH & TRADES. Our Engineering Technology and Trades programs offer engaging learning environments and relevant programming that can lead to careers in a wide range of industries, from mining to manufacturing to automotive. You can earn the winning combination of extensive technical knowledge complemented by well-developed hands-on skills. HIGHLIGHTS We partner with industry to help meet the workforce requirements of the future. These partnerships have allowed Northern College to provide students with current curriculum, state-of-the-art facilities, applied research opportunities, cutting edge equipment, hands-on experience and the opportunity to network with potential employers while you learn. Our Civil Engineering Technology program is unique in Ontario and allows you to earn your Ontario College Advanced Diploma in two years instead of three. The Mining Engineering Technician program is a blended program combining on-site and distance learning. Students require the use of a personal computer to access course content, submit assignments and complete online tests. The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) conditionally recognizes a number of our technician and technology programs as meeting the academic requirements for certification.

The Pre-Technology Certificate program is designed to prepare you for a college trades or technology program. This program can help increase your skills and confidence in math, sciences, computers and technical studies and enable you to explore career options in trades and technology. Graduates of the Electrical Engineering Technician program may choose to continue their studies and complete an additional year in order to obtain a diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology. Graduates of this program, Mechanical Engineering Technology and the Civil Engineering Technology program may be eligible to enroll in Bachelor of Engineering Degree programs at Lakehead University. Graduates of the Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technician program may be eligible for advanced standing into the Electrical Engineering program at the Haileybury Campus and to enroll in the Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronics Degree program at the Institute of Technology Sligo (IT Sligo) in Ireland or to attend Lambton College in Sarnia for the third year of an advanced diploma. Graduates of any Engineering Technology or Mining Engineering Technician diploma are eligible to enroll in the Bachelor of Mining Engineering Technology (BTech) from Queen’s University, a diploma to degree program in a flexible online learning format. .

HEALTH SCIENCES. You will learn vital, hands-on experience in the classroom and during clinical placements, allowing you to graduate and enter the workforce assured that you have the skills to excel. Our state-of-the-art nursing labs and cutting edge simulation equipment provide a variety of authentic health care scenarios to facilitate your transition into the clinical setting.

The Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees programs can provide you with the opportunity to study subject areas relevant to health career programs. Welcome to our state of the art, one of a kind Integrated Emergency Services Complex. An all in one, 40,000 square foot facility that houses our Emergency Services Programming, alongside active, working emergency service providers. A limited number of spots in the Veterinary Technician program are available for graduates of Northern College’s Veterinary Assistant or Animal Grooming programs. Graduates of those programs that wish to apply to the Veterinary Technician programs must have – in addition to the usual requirements for direct entry from high school – a 75 per cent minimum average (3.0 GPA) upon graduation from Veterinary Assistant or Animal Grooming programs. Applicants will be assessed according to highest academic achievement in their program. Many of our Veterinary Sciences programs are highly competitive. In order to be considered for admission, applicants must apply on or before the Equal Consideration Date of February 1.

WELDING ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY. Located at our Kirkland Lake Campus, our welding education facility associated with an applied research centre. Northern College is an authorized training body for the International Institute of Welding (IIW) Certification as an International Welding Technologist through the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) provides technology graduates with job opportunities in 56 IIW member countries. HIGHLIGHTS Students learn to develop, qualify and implement welding procedures; to use their knowledge of welding, metallurgy, mechanics and electrical engineering in the design and manufacturing of safety structures; and to inspect and maintain the integrity of such structures while they are in service. Our optional co-op program allows you to earn while you learn. Graduates from our Welding Engineering Technology programs have gone on to start careers in a wide variety of industries locally and internationally.
