IELTS recent Speaking topics In the IELTS speaking test session, you are asked to explain something common and global. You will be asked directly by the native within two minutes. Before speaking, you have one minute to take note of what you want to say. An important assessment emphasized is your fluency in speaking English and your coherence in discussing topics. This means you need to have a sufficient idea of what you want to tell the examiner. The Speaking test is a face-to-face conversation with a certified examiner. It is as close to a reallife situation as a test can get. Take time before the test to practise speaking with a partner, friend or teacher.
The test is 11 to 14 minutes long with three parts.
In Part 1, you answer questions about yourself, your family, your work and your interests. In Part 2, you speak about a topic. You will be given a task card which asks you to speak about a particular topic and includes points that you can cover in your talk. You will be given 1 minute to prepare your talk. You will then speak for 1-2 minutes. In Part 3, you have a longer discussion on the topic. The examiner will ask you further questions connected to the topic in Part 2.
The Speaking test is the same for both Academic and General Training tests. The Test Comprises of:
ID Check and Greeting Part 1 = Questions and Answers 4 to 5 Mins. Part 2 = a talk for 1 to 2 mins with rounding off questions for 1 min. Part 3 = Discussion 4 to 5 mins.
