SOL TREASURES

Founded in 2008 by three local artists, from left to right: Mrs. Barbara Pekema, Mr. Bruce Graham, and Mrs. Sonia Chapa

SOL TREASURES HISTORY

Sol Treasures started as a local home for artists, and slowly grew to become an art gallery, which then began to sell local consignment artists’ work in what became the Sol Treasures gift shop

Provides art instruction in schools through contracts with the districts, reaching all the way down into the rural parts of the county including Bradley, San Lucas, San Ardo and San Antonio

Since 2010, Sol Treasures has done over 20 musical productions, and several backyard musical reviews and concerts over the years, and has bussed in thousands of children from south county elementary schools to view the shows at the historic Robert Stanton Theater

Offering 26 – 29 after-school classes weekly in schools and housing projects, serving 300 participants weekly in Sol Treasures Programs

PROGRAMS & FACILITIES

VISUAL ARTS PROGRAM:

1. Gallery for formal art exhibitions with passive storage for related equipment, fixtures and supplies

2. Art Studio #1 with 10-15-person capacity, integrated storage for expendable materials and designated area for instructors’ preparations; sink & ventilation

3. Art Studio #2 with 10-15-person capacity, integrated storage for expendable materials and designated area for instructors’ preparations; sink & ventilation

4. (Optional Exterior Clay Kiln area with adjacent storage for greenware and glazes, clay & supplies)

MUSIC PROGRAM:

1. Ensemble Music Studio with 10-15-person capacity with instruments and 20-person capacity without instruments; baby grand piano and integrated instrument and equipment storage areas

2. Lessons Studio #1 with 1-3-person capacity with instruments; piano

3. Lessons Studio #2 with 1-3-person capacity with instruments; piano

THEATER PROGRAM:

1. Rehearsal & Performance Studio with total max. capacity (performers + audience) of 90; flexible arrangements with portable seating and staging fixtures; overhead grid rigging; adaptable stage lighting and sound w/ portable controls

2. Integrated or adjacent storage for fixtures, equipment and seating units in regular active use

3. TBD -- Backstage support (“Greenroom” and dressing rooms?)

4. TBD / Optional – Separate support areas (shops) for pre-production Activities (set pieces, props, costumes)

5. Also as noted below: Larger capacity passive storage areas must be provided at another location.

DIGITAL ARTS PROGRAM:

1. Dedicated secure lab for video & audio production and computer generated image creation; 6-8 workstations capacity

2. Adjacent integrated studio for recording live performers; 8-10 capacity

2. Kitchen: Minimal design to support hospitality & limited catering services

3. Custodial Closets: 2 well-located to service entire complex with utility sinks and active storage capacity

4. Laundry: Minimal design to support small scale wash & dry capabilities

5. Utility Areas for each of the following functions: HVAC, Gas & Electrical/Solar Security system monitoring, Trash & Recycling Collection, Larger item pickups & deliveries

6. 1 to 4 car parking spots may be required away from street frontage

7. Active Storage: Various sizes and specialized configurations to support core program activities occurring on-site only.
