The Studio Cortez Story
For over a decade, Studio Cortez has been quietly designing, manufacturing, and installing doors, windows, and hardware as an in-house product for our small architecture firm, RAC Design Build.
The firm started as a design build studio with a wood and metal shop at its core. To fulfill our architectural design aspirations, our shop began to fabricate doors and windows for the most custom of openings, those that were di!cult to source in the marketplace.
Most modern steel windows have a coating which masks the nature of the steel and leaves an overly rendered appearance. Our goal was to produce a product where both the materials and the cra" would be evident. We sourced a clear finish which is durable and still allows the nature of the production techniques and materials to remain expressed.
Although most of our design and production is standardized, our true value lies in highly customized products and our ability to marry old and new. We aspire to create new doors and windows that could have been made 100 years ago, not as replicas, but rather as a sincere e#ort of cra", aesthetics, and utility which results in an elegant product ready for the next hundred years.
Quality is not a mistake or merely stumbled upon. It is the result of a culture of dedicated focus and hard work.
