I am practical and pragmatic. To me, the essence of design lies in its ability to be envisioned as a real-life product. That's why I have a strong passion for 3D modeling, as it enables me to bring designs closer to reality and ensure their practicality. I am a firm believer that there is no limitation to design styles. I aim to be the designer who can create spaces that align with my clients' personal expectations. I design while picturing the experiences my clients would need and go through. It’s a privilege that designers hold - the ability to evoke various feelings in an individual by designing/shaping a space, and I am committed to fulfilling that responsibility in the best possible way.

Asma Harun

FURNITUREDESIGN

‘There is a safe spot in every tornado and my job is to find it’ –Copperfield.

The unique design for this furniture piece was inspired from the tornados Featuring three pieces of curved brass sheets welded together to form the table legs, and three rings at the center for extra support, this modern, unique piece of furniture is one that would add a dash of elegance to your entry space. The hammering on the surface gives this table an antique look, adding more to its character.

2. GRADUATION PROJECT: SHARJAH ISLAMIC COMMUNITY CENTERFOR WOMEN

The Sharjah Islamic Community Centre for Women is a hypothetical project that intends to provide a space for Muslim women in the United Arab Emirates to socialize while learning about Islam. The centre aims to motivate women with a variety of activities and will include areas such as an art studio/lounge, an archery learning section, a sewing zone, and a library with workspaces etc. With an abundance of natural light and neutral tones, the design intends to welcome women from all walks of life, as if they were newly born infants discovering Islam all over again. The center is categorized as a retail space and has a shop front with retail display. The proposed location is zero6 mall, as the project is using a modern approach in motivating the Muslim youth.

Conceptual process & pattern generation: The centre’s design is inspired by a Qur'anic verse (Surah Al Mu'minoon Ayah 14), which clarifies the stages of man's formation, from a blood clot to the birth of a brand-new life – a magnificent endeavour that only women can accomplish. The centre’s designs were inspired by microscopic images of an embryo to produce a mix of organic and geometric patterns.

The name of the store is inspired from the late poetess, Ousha bint Khalifa. One of the lines from a poem she wrote says “A place with no one but yourself, creates happiness” . Mirror is an important element in the store as it reminds the reader of himself/ herself. The general layout of the selected alternative for this store resembles the triangular pieces formed when a mirror is broken and split apart. Furthermore, the shape ‘ ’

ن in this design has been derived from the Arabic word ‘يسفن‘ that translates to ‘myself’ . Since the concept is ‘creating a happy space for myself where I, and only I exist’ .

Introducing AM - a mobile application designed to revolutionize the way interior designers and clients collaborate on projects. The main objectives of this app are to simplify the visualization of furniture and other design elements for clients, streamline the presentation of ideas by designers, and ensure overall organization throughout the interior design process Similar to popular apps like ID Book and Moblo, AM provides detailed 3D visualizations and a wide range of furniture options. AM combines thoughtful design decisions, including a splash screen, concise homepage, back button functionality, dropdown menus, and intuitive category switching with "<" and ">" buttons Additionally, the inclusion of a "like" button allows clients to express their satisfaction with products and create a personalized list of preferred items. AM is set to redefine the mobile app experience for interior designers and clients alike.

This is a concept model for the Sharjah Islamic community center for women

The model has been developed before the floor plan and is only reflective the conceptual process to transform the concept into a physical design for the space. This includes geometric Islamic patterns gradually moving down to organic shapes inspired from the embryo. The top view of the model also reflects the intersection of circles that is copied from the formation of an embryo, The patterned part has been developed by laser cutting a design on flexible foam The rest of the parts have been put together manually using flexible foam.

MODELMAKING

‘Tornar’ has been created in scale 1:10 with the help of 3D printing and Laser cutting. The table legs have been modeled on 3Ds max to be printed by the 3D printer. The tabletop is a CNC-cut acrylic glass. The both were assembled to create the final model

The model for the table lamp ‘Hope’ has been fabricated manually. The shapes have been laser cut, glued together and then sanded to create the
