Haags werk op de salone del mobile 2012
This year’s Salone del Mobile is the first fair Haags Werk is participating in. The designers that are part of the exhibition are: Marlies van der Linden & Raúl Wallaart, Celine van Raamt, Tiddo de Ruiter, Inge Simonis, Barbara Vos and Geanne Welles. Together they will be presenting their newest work in the fields of product, ceramics, textile, furniture design and architecture.
De Salone del Mobile 2012 is de eerste beurs waar Haags Werk zich presenteert. De ontwerpers die deelnemen aan de presentatie zijn: Marlies van der Linden & Raúl Wallaart, Celine van Raamt, Tiddo de Ruiter, Inge Simonis, Barbara Vos en Geanne Welles. Samen presenteren zij hun nieuwste werk op het gebied van product-, keramiek-, textiel-, meubelontwerp en architectuur.

Home of Haags Werk is De Besturing, a creative studio complex in the Hague. Haags Werk wants the world to see that the Hague is an emerging design city. Also, Haags Werk is a way for young designers to be able to participate in large fairs to show the world their newest work.
Thuisbasis van Haags Werk is De Besturing, een ateliercomplex op de Haagse Binckhorst. Haags Werk wil met de presentaties van puur Haags ontwerp aan de buitenwereld laten zien dat Den Haag een opkomende designstad is. Daarnaast wil Haags Werk jonge Haagse ontwerpers de mogelijkheid bieden om op grote beurzen te staan met hun nieuwste werk. Het motto hierbij is ‘Samen staan we sterk’.

Inge Simonis
o
Inge Simonis studied design at the Art and Design Academy St. Joost in Breda (NL). After her study she moved back to The Hague, the city where she grew up. Simonis designs and produces small and exclusive series of functional objects, which range from tableware to vases and lamps. Simonis’ work is characterized by its clear and minimalist design, which is often underpinned by a sense of surprise and chance. Function is at the centre of her work, but Simonis enjoys playing and extending this concept, she likes to be lead and surprised by coincidence and process. deCanters The decanters are made for red and white wine, and are based on the shapes of chimney-pots. The decanter for white wine has a narrow opening so the bouquet stays preserved, the decanter for red wine has a wide opening to let the wine breathe. Each porcelain decanter holds one bottle of wine (0,75l). laMPs The paper lamps are based on the idea of paper cutting, Simonis used to do as a child. In Holland children produce garlands for festivities through folding and cutting. Inge Simonis designed different patterns for these paper lamps to reflect different interior styles.

Inge Simonis studeerde aan de Academie voor Kunst en Vormgeving St. Joost te Breda. Na haar studie keerde zij weer terug naar de stad waar zij haar jeugd doorbracht, Den Haag. Sinds 2006 werkt zij als keramisch vormgever vanuit eigen inspiratie en in opdracht.Simonis ontwerpt en produceert kleine series en exclusieve objecten, uiteenlopend van servies tot vazen en lampen. Het werk van Inge Simonis kenmerkt zich door een lichte vormgeving, waarin toeval en verrassing duidelijk een rol spelen. Functie is altijd het uitgangspunt maar Simonis laat zich graag leiden door toeval in het proces waardoor nieuwe vormen onstaan. Haar inspiratiebron is de natuur, die zij vrij vertaald naar gebruiksobjecten van keramiek en papier. karaFFen De vorm van de karaffen is geïnspireerd op de vormen van de schoorsteenpijpen die ik uit mijn atelierraam zie. Voor witte wijn is de karaf taps toelopend om het bouquet te behouden, voor rode wijn loopt de basis wijd uit zodat de wijn een groot oppervlak heeft om te ademen. lampen De lampen van papier zijn geïnspireerd op de knipkunst dat je als kind maakte. Vouwen en knippen maar tot er slingers onstaan met bijzondere vormen.

Tiddo De Ruiter

‘stretCHerCHair’ is a product of The Hague-based designer Tiddo de Ruiter. It consists of two wooden side-frames and two textile (Polymar) sleeves. Two steel stretchers push the frames apart, stretching the sleeves. This way, the chair gets its stability, in the meantime forming a comfortable seat and back. With a minimum of materials used, the chair remains very light. This comfortable, easy to handle and stackable chair won the Mart Stam award 2010. It will become part of the collection Thonet-EXP.

‘spanstoel’ is een product van de Haagse meubelontwerper Tiddo de Ruiter. Het bestaat uit twee houten zij-frames en twee hoezen van Polymar. Twee stalen spanners duwen de frames uit elkaar, waardoor de hoezen op spanning komen te staan. Aan de spanning ontleent de stoel zijn stabiliteit, tegelijkertijd ontstaan zo een comfortabele zitting en rugleuning. Door het materiaalgebruik te minimaliseren, is de stoel erg licht van gewicht. Deze comfortabele, makkelijk hanteerbare en stapelbare stoel won de Mart-stam prijs van 2010. Het vormt een onderdeel van de collectie Thonet-EXP.

Barbara Vos’ designs can be recognized by patterns, prints and repetitions. She likes to design products to organize, to order, to give structure. Textile fabrics are often involved in her designs. She also designs fashion accessories for international fashion brands.
De ontwerpen van Barbara Vos worden gekenmerkt door ritmes, herhalingen, patronen en prints. Ze ontwerpt graag producten om te ordenen en te rangschikken. Textiel speelt vaak een belangrijke rol. Ook ontwerpt ze mode-accessoires voor internationale modemerken.
‘tex-tiles’ The tex-tiles have an imprint of a fabric. By bringing together the warm, flexible, soft feeling of a fabric with the hard, cold, flat material of ceramics, there results an exciting combination. The effect is made stronger by adding light behind the tile.
‘tex-tiles’ In de tex-tiles is een afdruk van textiel verwerkt. Door het zachte, warme, bewegelijke van textiel te verwerken in het harde, vlakke, koude, strakke materiaal van een keramieken tegel ontstaat een spannende combinatie. Dit effect wordt versterkt door licht achter de tegel te plaatsen.

Ever since graduating as a textile designer in 2010 Geanne has been working on projects in different fields of design: print design, interior styling, theatre design, graphic design, product design and textile art. Mostly though, she loves working on new concepts for toys and interior products for children.
Sinds Geanne Welles is afgestudeerd als textielontwerpster in 2010 heeft ze aan projecten gewerkt in verschillende disciplines: dessinontwerp, interieurstyling, decorontwerp, grafisch ontwerp, productontwerp en textielkunst. Het liefste werkt ze echter aan nieuwe concepten voor kinderspeelgoed en interieurproducten voor kinderen.
sQuare.PlaY Is the evolution of Geanne Welles’s graduation project PLAY.SCAPE. Again the product contains a set of play tiles, only these are more practical and specifically made for children. The washable tiles of cotton fabric can be connected to each other with the Velcro parts. By connecting them a playground is created. Because of the loose square parts you can take SQUARE. PLAY with you wherever you go or store it easily with the other toys.
sQuare.plaY Is het vervolg op het afstudeerproject PLAY. SCAPE van Geanne Welles. SQUARE.PLAY bestaat uit een set speeltegels gemaakt van katoen die gewassen kunnen worden. De tegels zijn makkelijk aan elkaar te bevestigen met de onderdelen van klittenband. Door de tegels aan elkaar te leggen ontstaat een speelvloer. De losse tegels maken het mogelijk om SQUARE.PLAY overal mee naartoe te nemen of makkelijk op te bergen bij de rest van het speelgoed.

Marlies Van Der Linden & RaĂşl Wallaart The Haagse binCkJes are small, tough, have loads of character and stimulate reuse of buildings fallen into disuse. The dismountable wooden units can be completely furnished as a comfortable selfsustained office space. They rejuvinate empty buildings and are easily constructed; you need two people, two wrenches and a ladder. The Haagse binCkJes are also perfectly suitable as small office spaces in a workshop, as a stand and as an entrance desk in a public building. The creators of the binCkJes are both architects and share the experience of creating a pleasant workspace in an abandoned factory hall.

De Haagse binCkJes zijn klein en stoer, hebben karakter en maken onbruikbare gebouwen toegankelijk voor de generatie van het nieuwe werken. De Haagse binCkJes zijn houten demontabele huisjes volledig uit te rusten als zelfstandige werkruimte. Ze doen leegstaande gebouwen weer herleven en zijn eenvoudig te assembleren; je hebt slechts twee mensen, twee steeksleutels 17 en een ladder nodig. De Haagse binCkJes zijn ook uitermate geschikt als verwarmd kantoortje in een magazijn, als beursstand of als loge in een publiek gebouw. De bedenkers van de binCkJes zijn beiden architect en hebben zelf een fijne werkruimte gecreĂŤerd in een oude loods.

Celine Van Raamt

Celine van Raamt studied industrial design engineering at the university of technology in Delft. After her bachelor she decided to go to the art academy in The Hague (KABK) to do the postgraduate industrial design. Since 3 years she is back in The Hague, the city where she grew up. Since a couple of years Celine works as an independent designer, making lamps, fruitstands and other products. laMP The wall lamp is inspired by wall paper; one piece of material on the wall with a shape coming out in the form of a lampshade. A good feature of the lamp is that it looks nice in a sequence, for example as bedside lamps, but also in restaurants. Fruitstand The fruitstand is inspired by a tree. You can add nine pieces of fruit. The fruitstand is casted and baked at Gouderak and assembled by the designer.

Celine van Raamt studeerde industrieel ontwerpen aan de TU Delft. Na haar bachelor besloot ze om naar de Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten (KABK) in Den Haag te gaan voor de postgraduate industrieel ontwerpen. Sinds 3 jaar woont zij weer in Den Haag, waar zij ook is opgegroeid. Celine werkt sinds een paar jaar voor zichzelf als ontwerper van lampen, fruitschalen en andere produkten. lamp De muurlamp is geïnspireerd op behang; één stuk materiaal dat over de muur geplakt zit met een bobbel in de vorm van een lampenkap. Het mooie van het ontwerp is dat ze in serie opgehangen kunnen worden, bijvoorbeeld als bedlampjes, maar ook in een restaurant. FruitsCHaal De fruitschaal is geïnspireerd op een boom. Je kunt er negen stuks fruit in kwijt. De fruitschaal is gegoten en gebakken in Gouderak en met de hand in elkaar gezet door de ontwerper.
