Preface My utterly predictable, to some even boring, life is full of ‘what-if’ scenario’s. More than I would actually like. Just give me a topic and I’ll reflect on it for eternity. What if I hadn’t written this preface? What would’ve happened if I had cycled one millisecond slower than I did back when I got struck by a car before Flow’s Summercantus? Would I’ve crushed my ankle instead of my bicycle frame? Or what if I hadn’t applied to become a commissioner? Guess we’ll never find out. To be honest, I could go on for hours speculating on all possible outcomes. But I prefer not to. Sometimes it is better to just go with the flow (no pun intended) and let it wash over you. In other cases, I need to bring back my pondering behaviour and what-if scenario’s. During our last committee meeting we bundled our what-if scenario forces. With Flow’s internationalization project in mind, we asked ourselves what would be best for the Flowzine. What if we started off with writing half of the articles in English? No sooner said than done, I proudly present to you, on behalf of my committee, the first 50/50 Flowzine! Perhaps it’ll look like a tangled mess of Dutch and English, but hey. ‘..heeft het gesprek verlaten.’ Au. Vroeger was alles beter. Met elkaar dansen betekende minstens een armlengte tussen twee lichamen en ouders werden nog keurig met twee woorden aangesproken. De algemene etiquette werd met zachte dan wel harde hand aangeleerd. Tegenwoordig is er weinig meer over van die etiquette. Jongeren kijken alleen bij hoge uitzondering nog op van hun telefoon. Als er even een groepsselfie wordt gemaakt bijvoorbeeld. Daardoor zijn ze zich amper bewust van hun omgeving. Toch hebben diezelfde jongeren wel degelijk kennis van etiquette. Deze is dan misschien niet merkbaar in de openbare ruimte, maar op social media des te meer. Neem WhatsApp. Op het eerste oog een simpele app waarin korte tekstuele berichten, eventueel aangevuld met afbeeldingen of emoji’s, gedeeld kunnen worden met anderen. Toch zijn er zekere sociale gedragsregels waar een WhatsAppgebruiker zich aan moet houden. Dit is met name het geval binnen groepsgesprekken. Wanneer fysieke cues wegvallen, worden de weinige nog aanwezige cues ontzettend opgeblazen. Het zonder reden of aankondiging verlaten van een groepsgesprek kan daardoor worden beschouwd als een flinke rochel in het gezicht van de overige gesprekspartners, zeker wanneer het een kleine groep betreft. Zo heeft mijn moeder onlangs onze familie-app verlaten. Toegegeven, daar kreeg ik kortstondig een brok van in mijn keel. Maar toen ik me haar weer voor de geest haalde, met een leesbril op het puntje van haar neus en die ene twijfelende wijsvinger richting het scherm wanneer ze een bericht typt, bedacht ik me dat ze waarschijnlijk per ongeluk de groep verlaten had. Toen ik haar er later naar vroeg, bleek dit echter niet het geval. Ze vond het simpelweg onzin een groepsgesprek te hebben als ze ons allemaal ook privé kon appen. Mijn moeder is overduidelijk niet op de hoogte van de hedendaagse WhatsApp-etiquette en hoogstwaarschijnlijk is haar leeftijd daar de oorzaak van. Ikzelf ben weer het andere uiterste: ik verlaat alleen bij uitzondering een groepsgesprek. Hierdoor heb ik onderaan mijn gesprekslijst een groot aantal groepsgesprekken openstaan waar ik nog de enige deelnemer van ben. Dat lijkt misschien zielig, maar deze gesprekken zijn heel handig ter vervanging van notitieboekjes.

BANK15 Jerry Opier He worked for one of the top 3 advertising agencies in the world, travelled the world and has no product to offer but an idea. Not unimportant, he wants to bring people together and make them aware of what we can achieve by working together to make the world a better place. Starting small, by setting up a collective of entrepeneurs in Tilburg. We met Jerry in his home port, his creation: BANK15. Then and there we discovered the visionair behind the succesful concept. His philosophy - everyone desevers a chance - is incorporated with care in every detail. Jerry: “During my study I met someone who changed my view on the world completely. When I needed it most - I almost quit my education - he selflessly offered me an opportunity. I went back to university and the rest is history. My aspiration is that everyone deserves a chance. The talented and less talented, the fortunate and those who are less fortunate, the rich and the poor. With BANK15 I just try to help people out as I once stood at the other end.” That truly is a hartwarming story! But honestly, what is BANK15 exactly? ”It’s actually a way of thinking. We want people to become

aware of that. What if we created a venue where people with different backgrounds, different mindsets, but with the same way of thinking can meet? We’re a professional community centre. We’d like to help young entrepeneurs who dream of something big and at the same time want to make the world a better place with their product.∫ How did you come up with this concept? “Personal idealism. For years I worked in corporate structures, but I didn’t believe in its business model anymore. Spending billions on advertising so that I can drive an expensive car and go on a holiday six times a year. The world changes, its consumers change, idealism changes. When I visited Capetown, I was surprised by the casualness with which food, music and people came together. Back then I knew immediately that was what I was looking for: a place where people come together spontaneously.”

What makes BANK15 thìs succesful? “Let me tell you: when visiting a restaurant which only has forks and you get soup for dinner, you have a problem. Then you have to think of something. Here, we have this one sugar pot on the table. Then you have to ask if you may borrow it. We once build a stage in here, with everything on and in it. People thought ‘what’s all the fuzz about, will there be a performance later on?’ We’re all strangers, until something happens. That’s what we want to make people aware of here.” And what does the future holds for BANK15? ”Being a creative strategist means that you’re always working. I’d like for the people who exploit their business here to spread the philosophy of BANK15: start-up businesses to make a difference. Furthermore, I pursue to open BANK15 in more cities, and to develop the concept into more more entities. For instance, opening a hotel where people can meet, where they can sleep, where entrepeneurs and visitors can share their worlds to learn from one another. I really like the fact that people want to pay us another visit, that they enjoy themselves around here.” Do you have an employee who is responsible for marketing and/or communication? ”We work with a business model based on intrinsic

motivation. Actually, I believe it’s more effective to let 21 enthusiastic entrepeneurs speak for your business instead of shouting from the rooftops how you’re better than others. Also, any entrepeneur entering this building gets a hug, because we treat each other as equals here. That’s our marketing strategy, orchestrated word of mouth and creating brand ambassadors. This was why we didn’t communicate about our existence via the formal channels in the first place. We opened BANK15 about less than half a year ago and we don’t get to complain. I’m amazed that so many people know where to find us.” Suppose one of us wants to work for you: what are requirements for the job? “You need to be willing to open up to others, to confront yourself with the way you handle things, what value you add yourself to the greater whole. And I expect you to be willing to work hard, to practise what you preach. I understand this is very difficult, since we don’t really sell a product, but an idea.” Are you also interested in working with international students?

“We’re currently planning on investing in international students. To hear about their ideas from where they come from, as that is often half the world away. Of course we hope they’re willing to travel our world as well, by looking for overlap between the two worlds.”

Trends in the field of Communication Fidget spinners, robots, drones..They are literally flying around at this point. Even for the diehard communication student it gets harder to keep up. What gadgets should already be added to our Christmas wish list? And, not unimportant, how do we incorporate all of these gadgets into our daily lives without being afraid of the dreaded information-overload? Newest gadgets: Spectacles - 149,99 euro Snapchat started off as an innocent (or not so innocent when you realize what it was mostly used for) app. In the meanwhile, mother company Snap Inc. has also launched Spectacles: the sunglasses that snap. These glasses enable you to send all of your small, funny videos and pictures to your friends without even having to touch your phone. Whether the glasses actually protect your eyes from uv-rays is still a mystery for the inFlow. But you definitely look good wearing them! Apple Pay - free The fact that Apple is not afraid of innovation doesn’t come as a surprise. They prove that once again by launching Apple Pay. It’s perfect for the moment when you lose your debit card again. Just hold your phone to the payment terminal, pick the desired card, scan your fingerprint with the home button et voilà! If using your debit card without having to type your pincode didn’t already gave you the impression of not spending any money, we advise you to check your bank account every now and then. Mobile Photo Printer - 130,- euro It was just a matter of time before our trustworthy smartphone would replace the polaroid camera. Imagine having to take an entire bag yet to take another device with you on a trip. Forget about this and welcome the Mobile Photo Printer, which enables you to print your favorite pictures in seconds. Attach it to your phone, print and ‘Shake it like a polaroid picture’! Bonus: you get to make a picture of you holding the polaroid in front of a nice background.

Communicating in 2017 So we’ve updated our gadget-drawer and are now totally up-to-date again. But wait..should we also ‘update’ our communication strategies? Is the behaviour of online communication of the people around us changing just as fast as the world we live in? The answer, as you may have guessed, is probably yes. The use of e-mail is changing Why? Not only because of the new ways of getting in touch, but also because we get lazy: e-mail is slowly moving to the background. We want to receive information the fastest way possible, without wanting to put a lot of effort into getting it. Thinking about waiting for days for a letter to arrive (how

did people do this back in the days?!) is out of the question nowadays. And that affects the way we communicate as well: we are getting more and more impatient. Now what? E-mail is still the number one online communication medium, but it is not considered the fastest anymore. We got so used to the blue checkmarks (on WhatsApp, red.) when a message is read, that we aren’t good at waiting for an answer like before. Therefore, we might expect our future employers to prefer faster media over e-mail when fast responses are required. We also need to become aware of the fact that people might get mad when they neither receive an automatic reply, nor a response. Out-of-the-office mails have never been this crucial! Live-video Why? It seems as if more Social Media platforms are implementing live-video as an additional option. Sharing a picture or video taken before doesn’t seem fast enough anymore. With live-video we can literally experience things at the exact same time they are happening. From our comfortable couch at home!

#unfiltered or just acting crazy, is up to everyone to decide for their own. For now, we are not expecting that there will be a time where sharing content of previous activities is completely taken over by live-video. But if there will be, all we can hope is that people are still triggered to go out and live their lives outside of their homes. Because honestly, watching a festival at you phone without experiencing the dirty toilets, cold showers and spending too much money makes it as half as good as it is in reality. Staying away from information overload and burn-out In conclusion, we want answers, we want entertainment, and we want it fast. Faster isn’t necessarily better, though. Students are suffering from burn-outs, because the pressure to be available 24/7 is just too much to handle. Information overload disables us to enjoy the beauty in simple everyday things. Sit down, relax, and give yourself some time! Because only then we can keep on successfully communicating and enjoying our fancy gadgets with all of their opportunities.

Now what? Whether it’s a good thing that we are sharing our lives

Candidate Board 2017-2018 A new year, a new board. This year is no exception. Nina Serpenti (Chairman), Ramon Pieternella (Vicechairman), Meggie Janssen (Secretary), Anouk Smits (Treasurer) and Anneloes Meijer (Commissioner External Affairs) will lead our association during the upcoming year, each representing their own position. Letâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s get to know these five ambitious students.

Why did you choose to do a board year at Flow? Nina: ”I didn’t want to just finish my bachelor’s in three years without further side activities. Flow is not only a great association; I’m convinced this experience will also help me in my career later on.” Ramon: “Kind of the same reasons as Nina. Last year, I was the commissioner of the Web Committee and I really liked that. So I wanted to take the next step and focus on Flow for the full 100% for one year.” Meggie: “I really enjoyed my last two years at Flow, once as a committee member and last year as a commissioner. I want to show other students how much Flow can mean to them, like it did to me.” Anouk: “In high school I held a similar position and I like to have a little more responsibility than a person would normally have. I didn’t apply to be an active member in my first year, but last year I really felt at home at Flow as a committee member. I enjoyed being an active member so much that I chose to do a board year.” Anneloes: “Apart from studying, I really like to be involved with Flow and I already have been active in several committees. I didn’t apply to be a commissioner, since I didn’t live in Tilburg yet, but this year I wanted to. I really think Flow can mean a lot to students.” When was the moment you knew that you wanted to do this for sure? Nina: “I knew it for sure when we were on studytrip to Athens last year (back then Nina was the commissioner of the Studytrip Committee, red.). I was in charge for one week, and it was not always fun when people were tired and complaining, but overall, I loved it. That’s when I knew I wanted to do this at a fulltime basis.” Ramon: “At the beginning of last year I began to think about it, but since last December I really wanted to and started working towards it.” Meggie: “In the last year of high school I first learned about Flow through an orientation day, and it already seemed to me that it would be really cool to be part of that association. I spent a lot of time at the Flow Office in my first year and last year I started to think seriously about a board year.” Anouk: “After being a committee member for a couple of weeks, the idea for a board year came into mind. Back then

after a company visit at the Greenhouse Group last year I talked about it with Sara (Board 2016-2017, red.) and got more excited.” Anneloes: “During my first year I was in close contact with one of the board members at the time, and so I learned a lot about it already. When I became friends with more people at Flow in my second year, I knew that this is where I truly belong.” How did you decided on the positions? Did you knew right away? Nina (Chairman): “At first I was also very interested in being Commissioner External Affairs, because both positions involve a lot of personal contact with other people. What I like about being Chairman, is that you don’t have fixed responsibilities. You have to ‘be’ many things, not necessarily ‘do’ many things. I really enjoy this variety.” Ramon (Vice-chairman): “It was an obvious choice for me. I would have liked any position, but Vice-chairman suited me best since I already have the knowledge (as Vice-chairman you are responsible for many technical matters at Flow, red.)“ Meggie (Secretary): “During my first year I was already interested in being a secretary and I was always curious about the everyday activities of Donny (Secretary 20152016, red.). So last year I started to doubt and became interested in other positions as well, so I applied for both and at the end of the day I was chosen to be Secretary.” Anouk (Treasurer): “I just knew from the very first moment I wanted to fulfill the role of Treasurer. It is something I already enjoyed doing in high school and I like being responsible for the money of the association.” Anneloes (Commissioner External Affairs): “All positions were appealing to me, and I almost submitted an open application, but I was told no to. I didn’t think I would be qualified to be Chairman and I knew that Ramon would be a great Vice-chairman, so I didn’t apply for those. Actually, I almost didn’t apply for the position of CAE, since I knew there would be some competition. But I love to negotiate with companies and to contact with them, so I already enjoy being CAE.”

To what do you look forward next year?

What do you fear for next year?

Anneloes: “Staying at our monthly drink until 4 AM!” Ramon: “Meeting new members and try to make their year as good as possible.” Meggie: “Welcoming people at the Flow Office and offer the help they need.” Ramon: “Yeah, same.” Nina: “I’m really excited for the TOP-week, to meet new students and make them excited about being active besides studying, whether it is at Flow or somewhere else. This is the best time of your life, you will never get this much freedom again, so enjoy it.” Anouk: “I look forward to the new project about internationalization, to approach international students and recruit them as active committee members for Flow.” Anneloes: “I would really like to see how close we’ve become at the end of the year, when we’re known as ‘Board 20172018’.” Ramon: “And to see what we’ve accomplished.” Nina: “I also look forward to gather every tiny detail of what’s going on within the association. Basically, we look forward to everything next year.”

Nina: “Opening the Flow Office on Thursday (after our monthly drink, red.). On those days someone will need to bring me some vitamins around 12 AM.” Anneloes: “The moments we have to think ‘Oh no, I’m a board member and have to behave properly.’” Meggie: “Receiving criticism when something goes wrong within Flow. We are responsible in the end.” Ramon: “It’s inevitable, but part of the job.”

What do you hope to learn during your board year? Meggie: “Handling criticism and getting better at planning.” Anneloes: “Organizing things.” Nina: “Keeping an overview of everything that’s going on.” Meggie: “I also want to learn the customs of how to phone people.” Ramon says semi-mockingly: “How do I push these buttons?” Meggie laughs: “Oh stop it, you.” Anouk: “Also working together with different kinds of people.”

You have chosen a great year – our lustrum year – is that something that keeps you extra preoccupied? Anneloes: “All ‘standard’ activities will be a little bit bigger since we have more money to spend. For instance, the National Day of Communication will be organized in Tilburg this very year.” Nina: “Anouk is part of the Lustrum Committee, so she keeps an eye on everything. For the rest of us, it will be a surprise as well.” Ramon, what’s it like to be surrounded by girls? Ramon: “I have gotten used to it, actually. But we had, or rather they had, some tough discussions about our board clothing..” Nina: “It took Ramon the longest to choose his suit though..” Anneloes: “We decided on our skirts in no time.” Ramon: “They couldn’t decide if they wanted scarfs and sweaters or T-shirts. But other than that I really enjoy it.” What’s your strength as a group? Meggie: “We’ve got a lot of fun together.” Nina: “We’re all very enthusiastic. We’re not morning people, but we’re enthusiastic.” Anneloes: “We’re all third year students, so we already knew each other. We didn’t start off as complete strangers.”

Nina: “We can deal with all kinds of different people.” Anouk: “And I would add to that we also vary in personalities ourselves. One of us is more calm while the other is more energetic, but we all understand each other.” Meggie: “From the beginning we’ve had the same ideas about what we wanted to change.” We asked the Candidate Board to rate each other and themselves on questions like ‘Who is the funniest?’, and these are their results: Nina: Has the toughest time surviving the constitution drinks. Knows most Flow’ers by name and their favourite colour. Ramon: Was born for his position. Is the funniest. Meggie: Is the beer-chugging champion. Makes sure no detail is overlooked. Anouk: Has an iron liver and wakes up fresh every morning. Brings stability when there’s chaos. Anneloes: Has already been through the biggest personal development. Will grow up to be a politician.

Kedeng kedeng of tring tring? Van plan om op kamers te gaan of iedere dag met de trein te reizen? Een belangrijke afweging, een die een belangrijk effect heeft op hoe je dag er als student uitziet. Weten hoe een willekeurige dag met twee colleges er voor een trein- en kamerstudent uitziet? Wij legden de dagschemaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s van een treinstudent uit Eindhoven en een kamerstudent in Tilburg naast elkaar.

De wekker gaat. Ik staar naar het plafond en wens voor de zoveelste keer dat ik mezelf geen college om kwart voor negen in de ochtend had aangedaan. Ik mep de snooze-knop in en hoop dat ik tien minuten later wakkerder ben.

Op dit tijdstip verkeer ik nog in een zalige staat van zijn, namelijk de slaapmodus. Mijn wekker gaat pas over een uur af.

Het viel te proberen. Ik rol uit bed, waarna ik een ..Zzz.. snelle douche neem en me aankleed. Bestudeer mezelf kort in de spiegel. Best presenteerbaar voor zes uur â&#x20AC;&#x2122;s ochtends, besluit ik.

Het is te vroeg voor ontbijt, maar ik luister naar het verstandige stemmetje in mijn hoofd en prop drie lepels kwark in mijn mond. Ik mik wat eten in mijn tas en poets snel mijn tanden. Klaar om te gaan. Soort van.

Met een oog kijk ik op mijn wekker. Nog ruim een half uur aan slaap, dus draai ik mij nog eens om.

Het is vijf minuten lopen naar de bushalte en de bus gaat over tien minuten. Als ik nu vertrek, ben ik ruim op tijd.

De buurvrouw vindt het nodig om haar snorscooter al in de tuin te starten, grr, ik had nog zeker een kwartier slaap kunnen meepakken.

Kut. Sleutels kwijt.

De hond van de buren begint te blaffen. Nu kan ik er net zo goed uitkomen. Misschien nog even controleren of ik alles bij heb voor mijn colleges van vandaag. Of mezelf op een extra lange douche trakteren, it depends.

De bus is er eindelijk. Ik luister muziek terwijl ik

Haa, persoonlijk prefereer ik een (lange) douche in

pretentieus uit het raam kijk. Ik waan mezelf een small time girl living in a lonely world.

de ochtend om goed wakker te worden.

De bus komt aan bij het station. Ik gris een Metro mee op mijn weg naar perron, waar de trein al staat te wachten.

Op m’n dooie gemakje maak ik mezelf gereed voor weer een nieuwe dag. Eerst eens wat eten.

Ik besluit mijn tijd nuttig te gebruiken en het hoofdstuk te lezen dat twee weken geleden in het college besproken werd.

Inmiddels ben ik weer op mijn kamer, mijn om-kwartvoor-negen-college-schema vertelt me dat ik maar beter mijn tanden kan gaan poetsen en mijn make-up doen.

De trein komt aan op Station Tilburg Universiteit. Terwijl ik naar de collegezaal loop prijs ik mijn eigen productiviteit zo vroeg op de ochtend.

Ondanks dat ik er slechts twaalf minuten over doe om de campus te bereiken, neem ik voor de zekerheid altijd een half uur de tijd.

Ik plof neer op een stoeltje voorin de collegezaal en wacht geduldig tot het college begint. Langzaam druppelen mijn medestudenten binnen.

Met gevaar voor eigen leven ben ik dan toch weer in een geheel gearriveerd op de campus. Op naar de collegezaal, waar ik naast mijn medestudenten neerplof.

HONGER. Mijn gebrek aan ontbijt wordt nu duidelijk. Ik zet koers naar de Mensa om een ontbijt te scoren.

Goddank. Pauze. Terwijl ik als een hamster heel charmant een koekje wegwerk, luister ik naar verhalen van mijn buren.

Mijn volgende college is pas om 12:45, dus ik moet mijn tijd goed gebruiken. Ik neem de halve Mensatafel in met mijn boeken, blokken en laptop en begin als een ijverige student te studeren.

Om de tijd te doden tussen de colleges door vertrek ik naar de kerkers van de UB, oftewel de studieruimte. Die ben ik gaandeweg meer en meer gaan waarderen.

Ik sla mijn boek dramatisch dicht en besluit mezelf nog Oké oké, ik heb een deel van de geplande studietijd wat relaxen toe te staan. Ik voer wat gesprekken en doorgebracht met het nodige SOG’en. Snel even kijk nog meer kattenfilmpjes op YouTube. eten.

Na een korte wandeling over de campus kom ik aan bij mijn volgende college. Ik ga alvast in het lokaal zitten en wacht tot het begint.

Het college is iets eerder afgelopen! Ik trek een sprintje Ondanks dat het college nog vijf minuten duurt, en hoop de trein terug van 14:32 nog te kunnen beginnen sommigen hun tas al in te pakken. Irritant. halen.

De trein rijdt net voor mijn neus weg. Ik vloek en wacht ongeduldig op de volgende trein.

Terwijl de ‘thuiswonenden’ zich naar de trein haasten, loop ik op mijn gemak naar m’n fiets. Over twaalf minuutjes ben ik weer thuis.

Ik stap op de trein naar huis. In de trein lees ik nog wat studiewerk en staar ik uit het raam.

Inmiddels zit ik alweer een tijdje achter mijn studieboeken en zet ik een timer voor de wasmachine. *Zucht* Hopelijk kan ik straks nog een tweede was draaien.

Eenmaal thuis beloon ik mijn ijverigheid voor de dag met een avondje series en games. ’s Avonds geniet ik van de kookkunsten van mijn vader, een van de luxes van thuiswonen.

Om de dagelijkse drukte voor te zijn, duik ik nog even de supermarkt in voor boodschappen voor vanavond. Mijn huisgenoten reageren niet op de vraag of ze thuis eten. Op hoop van zegen dan maar.

Nadat ik eindelijk echt verdiept ben in de stof, kom ik tot de ontdekking dat mijn volgende college zo begint. Rennen dus!

Kakhiel Geef chips. Huisdier in het Engels. Evert en Evelien. Dieren met een mening. Slechts een greep uit het brede repertoire dat Kakhiel ons sinds enkele jaren biedt op Facebook en andere sociale media. Inmiddels heeft de Facebookpagina ruim 310.000 likes en worden de video’s, memes en merchandise gretig verslonden door de internetgeneratie. Wij namen de proef op de som om uit te vinden wie het gezicht achter dit internetfenomeen is.

llereerst natuurlijk de vraag wie Kakhiel nu eigenlijk is. Naast een geboortedatum (2 mei 1956) en een woonplaats (Los Angeles) is er namelijk niet zoveel bekend over de grote grappenmaker. Helaas kwamen ook wij daar niet achter: hij wil namelijk anoniem blijven. Voor hem werken zit er ook niet echt in, want Kakhiel is een one man job. Op de vraag of wij kunnen solliciteren antwoordde Kakhiel het volgende:

“Ik neem eigenlijk geen werknemers aan. Heb wel ooit een keer een stagiair gehad maar dat viel een beetje tegen omdat hij de hele tijd al mijn chips op at en elke dag een kater had haha en hij trok altijd zijn schoenen uit dus stonk mijn hele kantoor naar 30+ kaas waardoor ik muizen kreeg.” Begrijpelijk, maar helaas voor zijn bewonderaars. Wel is het fijn om te weten dat Kakhiel een goed werkethos heeft en altijd een doel voor ogen houdt:

“Ik wil zo veel mogelijk debiele grappen bedenken en mensen laten lachen ofzo.” Inspirerende woorden voor iedereen die denkt aan een carrière in memes of op een andere manier beroemd wilt worden op internet. Het is natuurlijk ook niet niks, zo’n bekende pagina runnen.

“Ben eigenlijk de hele dag door grappen aan het bedenken haha als ik wakker wordt begint het al.

“Ik wil zo veel mogelijk debiele grappen bedenken en mensen laten lachen ofzo. ” En als ik in bed lig ben ik er nog steeds mee bezig maar dat maakt niet uit want is wel lachen, ik heb ook een kantoor waar ik overdag ga zitten, anders zit ik de hele dag thuis vet saai.

Meestal ben ik een beetje door stock foto’s aan het bladeren en vaak krijg ik dan wel ideeën bij sommige foto’s, maar soms heb ik ook een grap in m’n hoofd en daar moet ik dan een foto bij zoeken.” Zelf heeft de admin ook een favoriet, namelijk zijn creatie Evert en Evelien:

“Die grappen zijn het leukst om te bedenken.” Een internethit wordt je niet zomaar. Het is hard werken en vaak veroorzaakt de roem ook een plotselinge wending in je leven. Maar Kakhiel lijkt er zelf vrij rustig onder te blijven:

“Had het niet echt verwacht ik deed dit al toen social media nog niet echt bestonden en toen ik alles voor de grap op Facebook gooide werd het ineens vet groot en ging DWDD me bellen enzo.” Vanaf dat moment groeide de stockphoto-bewerkende Kakhiel uit tot een heus merk.

Inmiddels kun je in zijn webshop toffe merchandise kopen, zoals hoodies, t-shirts en accessoires zoals petten, tassen, mokken en babyrompertjes. Allemaal natuurlijk voorzien van een echt Kakhiel opschrift. Op de vraag hoe de verkoop gaat krijgt de inFlow het volgende antwoord:

te bestaan. Je moet het ook interessant kunnen houden in de toekomst. Ondertussen is Kakhiel ook te vinden op Twitter en Snapchat, maar daar stopt zijn ambitie niet:

“Vet goed iedereen koopt de hele tijd shirts en truien haha, vooral rond Kerst want dan vinden mensen dat ze cadeau’s moeten kopen ofzo, iets met sociale verplichtingen.”

“Ben nu bezig om mijn YouTube kanaal groot te maken dus ben ik elke week aan het vloggen haha (abonneer op mijn YouTube kanaal bedankt) en daarnaast ben ik aan het kijken hoe ik al mijn grappen naar het Engels kan vertalen zodat ik internationaal ook veel mensen kan bereiken.”

Tot zover dus Kakhiel. Uiteraard nam hij afscheid met zijn welbekende

Het blijft gissen, maar naar het schijnt zou Kakhiel eind twintig zijn. Hij werkt fulltime bij een reclamebureau. Dagelijks maakt hij ruim 200.000 Nederlanders aan het lachen met zijn zelfgemaakte compilaties.

Ik leerde..yoga in zeven dagen In deze nieuwe rubriek verdiept een inFlow’er zich in het aanleren van een vaardigheid of sport. Iets met horizonverbreding. Zo is Anneloes nu ervaringsdeskundige op het gebied van yoga.

Yoga. Ja, je leest het echt goed. Sinds een tijdje doe ik aan yoga. En nee, ik kan mezelf nog niet opvouwen als een pretzel. Eigenlijk weet ik ook wel vrij zeker dat ik dat nooit ga kunnen. Maar dat is dan ook niet het voornaamste doel. Voor iedereen die niet weet wat yoga is, of nog graag een opfriscursus wilt: yoga is een van de zes orthodoxe of astika filosofische scholen van het Hindoeïsme. Dus, duidelijk toch? Waar het op neer komt is dat je met yoga even je hoofd leeg kunt maken. Je vouwt een been achter je nek en ademt een paar keer diep in en uit. Of, in mijn geval, je probeert je tenen aan te raken met je benen gestrekt en komt niet verder dan je knieën. Maar hè. Yoga associeerde ik altijd een beetje met ‘dat ene dat lenige hippies doen’. Maar eigenlijk valt dat reuze mee! Momenteel oefen ik nog met een aantal beginners posities, zoals de Cow Pose, de Down Dog, de Halfway Lift, de Mountain Pose en natuurlijk de Chaturanga. Deze oefeningen staan ook opgeslagen op mijn telefoon onder een mapje ‘Sport’, mocht je geïnteresseerd zijn.

Wanneer je een positie aangenomen hebt, is het de bedoeling dat je je hoofd even helemaal leeg maakt. Je focust je dan dus even niet op het gevoel dat je benen uit elkaar gerukt worden of je armen er zo af kunnen vallen, maar telt rustig van één tot dertig (of hoelang je wilt, I won’t judge) voordat je verder gaat naar de volgende positie. Dat is ook het moment waarop je merkt dat tijd eigenlijk heel relatief is. Als ik tot 30 tel terwijl ik de Child Pose doe, waarbij je op je knieën zit met je armen uitgestrekt voor je op de grond, duurt dat volgens de timer op mijn telefoon al gauw een goede 40 seconden. Dat terwijl de 30 tellen tijdens de Charturanga, ook wel beter bekend als planking, aanvoelen als een eeuwigheid. Heel gek. Dit klinkt misschien allemaal een beetje zweverig en vreemd, dat begrijp ik heel goed. Maar ik moet zeggen dat ik merk al iets leniger te worden, want ik kom namelijk al steeds dichterbij het aanraken van m’n tenen!

Professioneel vloggen Vroeger (oh wat klinkt dit ouderwets), genoot je zelf van het uitzicht tijdens je vakantie. Tegenwoordig moet alles wat je tijdens je vakantie ziet gelijk gedeeld worden met je Instagram-volgers, op Snapchat of op YouTube. Zo ook tijdens mijn vakantie. Rustig genoot ik van al het moois wat Milaan te bieden had. Vanuit de hop-on-hop-off bus volgden de ene na de andere unieke bezienswaardigheden elkaar op. En bij elke stop steeg mijn verbazing over het aantal selfiesticks en camera’s dat tevoorschijn kwam. Men bekeek de wereld en dus al dat moois vanachter een cameralens in plaats van met de eigen ogen. Een merkwaardig fenomeen als je het mij vraagt. Mezelf nog afvragend naar het nut van het delen van al je vakantie video’s, bereidt het meisje op de stoel voor mij zich voor op haar nieuwe vlog. Uitgedost in een Burberry jas en een dikke laag make-up, zet ze voorzichtig haar gloednieuwe iPhone in het gammele plastic ding dat een selfiestick moet voorstellen. Als ze al haar instellingen heeft bijgewerkt en haar make-up voor de zoveelste keer heeft bijgewerkt, begint ze aan haar vlog. Met een duidelijk Goois accent spreekt ze haar volgers toe. Flarden van haar monoloog volg ik met een gespitst oor. Ik hoor haar vertellen over haar net gekochte Burberry jas en over haar outfit. Dan draait ze haar camera even kort naar de Duomo, de mooiste kathedraal van Milaan. Ze sluit haar vlog af met het beschrijven van de uitgaansgelegenheden van Milaan en haar avondplanning.

Vol ongeloof volg ik dit tafereel. Ik vraag mij af of ze überhaupt iets heeft meegekregen van het uitzicht en de historische gebouwen die de stad rijk is. Misschien door een schermpje, een beeld wat ze met haar volgers heeft gedeeld. Al nadenkend over dit fenomeen en over de algehele digitale ontwikkelingen, bedenk ik mij dat de wereld om ons heen steeds individualistischer is geworden. Iedereen is bezig met het creëren van een image en het verkrijgen van zoveel mogelijk volgers. Ik wil juist genieten van het moment en het bekijken met mijn eigen ogen. Leven in het nu, genieten van het moment met degenen die het meest belangrijk zijn!

Student participation Where to go? Studying at a university means that you’re supposed to be an independent human being. This independence also comes with a great distance between you and your lecturers, the faculty board and the university board. Say you’d come up with a terrific idea to improve the campus, then our advice is not to make an appointment with Emile Aarts (the rector magnificus) directly. Instead, you could contact students who represent you at our university. Now you might ask: ‘But where should I go?’ Well, that’s the question, since it all depends on what type of idea or complaint you have. Don’t worry, there are students who represent you on every level within Tilburg University and every level has its own responsibilities. Program committee Every study program has its own program committee. It consists of students and lecturers of this very program and they mainly discuss affairs related to education. Bram Scholten is one of the members of the Program Committee of Communication and Information Sciences and represents master students.

What kind of questions can students ask the Program Committee that they cannot ask the other advisory bodies? “You can address the Program Committee if you have questions or problems regarding courses that you can’t discuss with the lecturer. For instance, when you have the feeling that a teaching method is not educationally worthwhile.”

What matters do the Program Committee discuss? “We discuss different matters that have to do with CIS. For instance, we offer advice on developments in the curriculum and course evaluations.” What topics have you (mainly) focused on during the past year? “In the past year we had set the goal to increase the prominence of the Program Committee among students. We’ve noticed that many students were not familiar with us, while we think it is very important that students are able to reach us with study-related problems. We accomplished this by using Facebook and will continue to use this medium. Furthermore, we looked at course evaluations and ways to collect more responses from students.”

Faculty Council Tilburg University has six faculties and all of these faculties have their own Faculty Board. The Faculty Council advises on different matters and consists of an employee party (to represent the employees) and a student party (to represent you as a student). Wessel Kouw has been a member for a year year now and will be chairman of the student party

What matters do the Faculty Council discuss? “We discuss all kinds of matters within TSH, like the investments in facilities, the curriculum of the study programs, education renewal, student numbers etc. A lot of the decisions we make won’t be noticed by students, but some have a big impact. For example, we’ve accomplished that lecturers aren’t allowed to make their lectures mandatory just like that. If they do, students have to be properly informed that they are mandatory.”

What topics have you (mainly) focused on during the past year? “We’ve discussed some large topics last year, like the Spoorzone, where TSH will cooperate with other (educational) institutions. Moreover, CIS got to add two new tracks (New Media Design and Cognitive Science & Artificial Intelligence) as of this year and we’ve discussed new tracks for Philosophy. Next year, we would like to submit our own initiatives as a student party. We don’t have any concrete proposals yet, but we prefer to focus on cooperation between the different study programs. Also, the quality of education is of great importance and we’ll monitor how the new tracks and the Data Science master will develop.”

What kind of questions can students ask the Student Party Dante that they cannot ask other advisory bodies? “Important issues that are related to education at TSH. If you think something can or must be improved, or if you have a problem, please let us know. We discuss everything between program level and university level. Since we keep in close contact with the Program Committee and the students in the University Council, we can always pass questions on to them if we think it is more suitable for them to help you or if your problem turns out to be relevant across the university as a whole.”

University Council When being around on the campus for a while, you must have seen at least one of the two student parties that advise the big chiefs of Tilburg University in their decision making. Since we advised against going to Emile Aarts himself at the beginning of this article, you can address the students that get you that step closer to him. Lieke van den Dungen was a member of one of the two student parties of the University Council last year. What matters do the University Council discuss? “We discuss policy making and current affairs at our university. Some matters, like the annual budget, are reviewed every year. Other topics depend on the current situation of Tilburg University. Last year we agreed on an investment about more workspaces on the campus for example. In addition, the student parties have the right to submit their own initiatives, which are then discussed at the council.”

What topics have you (mainly) focused on last year? “Among other things we focused on the Tilburg Education Profile and the Spoorzone. ‘Where Minds, Media and Technologies will meet’ is very interesting for TSH. This fall we’ll examine the strategic plan. This plan will contain the university’s strategy for the next five years, and we’ll mainly focus on what impact this plan has on the students studying here.”

What kind of question can students ask the Student Parties Front and SAM that they cannot ask other advisory bodies? “You can approach the University Council for all matters at university level. For instance, you can contact Front or SAM about the conditions in the library and student facilities. Or the improvement of education in general, if not for a specific course. An example would be the digitalization of education, something we would like to improve during the years to come. Apart from that, we’re always open for questions, ideas and complaints of students about the university.”

Master in de spotlights: Data Science: Business and Governance Data Science: Business and Governance onderscheidt zich van de andere tracks door een grotendeels vastliggend programma. Dit komt doordat de vier samenwerkende faculteiten van de universiteit een gevarieerd aanbod aan vakken aanbiedt. Je vergaart zowel kennis over de economische en juridische kanten van Data Science, als manieren om data te verwerken. Je leert programmeervaardigheden zoals Python en R en je wordt breed opgeleid binnen het vakgebied van Data Science. Data Science en Big Data worden steeds belangrijker in onze samenleving. Maar vergis je niet, je wordt niet opgeleid tot een hardcore Data Scientist. Hiervoor zijn andere masteropleidingen die aangeboden worden door onder andere

Tilburg University en de TU/e geschikter. Het voordeel van de mastertrack Data Science: Business and Governance is wel dat deze goed te volgen is voor wie weinig kennis van programmeren heeft. Interesse voor data is natuurlijk wel handig en als programmeren je totaal niet ligt is dit waarschijnlijk niet de richting voor jou. Carrièremogelijkheden liggen niet per se in de echte Data Science, maar vooral in de functies als ‘linking pin’ tussen programmeurs en het management binnen bedrijven. Column: Anneloes Meijer To some of you this might not come as a shocker, but still: I’m single. Very much so. Have been all my life. Honestly, I really don’t mind, I enjoy being single a lot. Being free to do whatever you want and no mandatory dates or meet-ups. Plus, I have some amazing friends (most of whom, however, are in a relationship). I would even miss it when I can no longer try to ignore a tricky message on WhatsApp, because my best friend and I came up with the best possible answer (via another chat-application first, so he won’t see I’ve been online before). Then again, being able to crawl up next to someone every night doesn’t seem like the worst thing ever either.

should have. No, not thát kind of gift. Something even better. A shoulder to cry on, an arm around me, someone I can introduce to my parents. I’m talking, naturally, about a boyfriend-pillow. To those who don’t know exactly what a boyfriend-pillow is: it is a normal pillow, but with an arm attached to it and it comes dressed with a shirt. A simple way to remind yourself that you’re never alone. It’s an I’m-a-strong-independent-woman-and-Idon’t-need-no-man-kinda pillow. A beacon of hope and at the same time amazingly fluffy. And it’s mine. I mean, I’m not a very possessive type of person, but I will cherish this pillow for the rest of my life. Or until I find myself a real boyfriend of flesh and blood. Either way, I’m really happy with this unconventional birthday present. He doesn’t snore, doesn’t steal the blankets, and he definitely doesn’t put his cold feet against me.

The perfect boyfriend

Not too long ago I celebrated my twentieth birthday. The tender age when you’re no longer a teenager, nor fully feeling like an adult. You just have to accept the fact that from now on, you’re always going to be closer to the age of 30 than to the age of 10. And that existential crisis is slowly setting in. Luckily, I have some very thoughtful friends who would never let me go through something like this on my own. My friends gave me a very special single-girl gift, which I believe all single girls out there

Twee Flowâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ers onder een dak Nina Rooze en Robbert Spaargaren Tijdens de TOP-week kon je ze herkennen aan hun Buurman & Buurman outfit en met hun hoge aaibaarheidsgehalte hebben ze zich tot graag geziene Flowâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ers ontpopt: Nina (19) en Robbert (20). En ze hebben nog een ding gemeen; ze delen een zolderverdieping aan de Schouwburgring.

Kenden jullie elkaar al voordat jullie in hetzelfde huis terecht kwamen? Robbert: “Volgens mij was het puur toeval.” Nina: “Nee, niet waar, we hebben een keer samen geluncht en met walging Robbert’s vieze kamer bezichtigd.” Robbert: “Mijn kant van het verhaal is dat Nina een keer tussen twee colleges door kwam lunchen. Zo hebben we elkaar ontmoet en bij de TOP-week zaten we volgens mij naast elkaar. De toenmalige buurman was aan het verhuizen en ik dacht, goh misschien is het leuk als ik die kamer overneem. Zo is van het een het ander gekomen en wonen we nu super gezellig naast elkaar.” Nina: “Super gezellig ja, want de keren dat we elkaar gezien hadden waren heel leuk.” Hoe is de vriendschap eigenlijk ontstaan? Door alleen naast elkaar te wonen of door naast elkaar in de collegebanken te zitten?

Nina: “Nou, na de TOP-Wintercantus (2016, red.) moesten we heel nodig plassen, veel heisa en gedoe met jassen, dus gingen we snel naar ons huis. Toen zaten hier allemaal Flow’ers, ik had de bank bezet en was zoute stokjes aan het eten. Robbert zat achter me op de grond melk te drinken en doopte daar op een gegeven moment de stokjes in. Zo hebben we nog drie uur gezeten met zijn allen. O en Robbert heeft een keer voor mij afgewassen op zijn knieën!” Robbert: “Dat was nog voordat ik hier woonde. Toen had Nina nog een laag salontafeltje en ik kwam afwassen. Maar omdat ik niet echt aan dat tafeltje kon staan, ging ik maar op m’n knieën zitten en toen afwassen. Klinkt een beetje raar misschien, maar als het werkt is het niet erg. Nina pakt er een doos met foto’s bij. Robbert: “Nina heeft de hele wc volgehangen met foto’s van ons.” Nina: “Er passen er nog wel bij, maar de gummetjes waren op.”

Ondertussen heeft ze de foto gevonden die ze zocht: Nina: ”Nee ik denk dat we wel bevriend waren voordat we samen woonden. *Lacht* Dit klinkt heel raar trouwens. Maar “Ik wilde graag stappen en Robbert ook met de ouderejaars, maar ik moest nog een HAIT paper schrijven. Toen het helpt natuurlijk wel als je ook samen eet, samen kookt, stelde hij voor dat ik dat paper zou gaan schrijven en hij samen naar college en terug gaat. Ik weet niet wie de perfecte huisgenoot is, ik denk vooral dat we een heel goed duo zijn.” Robbert: “En elkaar goed aanvullen.” Net zoals in andere studentenhuizen, gebeurt er wel eens iets wat je lang bijblijft. Maar doorgaans valt het allemaal nog wel mee in dit huis, aldus Nina. Totdat de woorden melk en wintercantus vallen.. Robbert: “Vertel jij dat maar, dat kun jij beter dan ik.”

Nina: “Ik verwacht een vermoeiende week, maar een die het waard is. We gaan als Buurman & Buurman, want we wonen naast elkaar. We hopen onze TOP-kindjes te enthousiasmeren met onze mafheid en ze daarmee aan te steken.” Robbert: “Hopelijk schrikt het ze niet af. Ik denk dat we elkaar goed aanvullen en we moeten goed afwisselen qua escalatieavonden.” Nina: “Robbert is beter in het opsparen van energie en is er tijdens de hele week wat meer. Hij is de stabiele factor. Ik heb meer last van pieken en dalen als het gaat om enthousiasme en moeheid. Daarom denk ik ook dat we elkaar heel goed zullen aanvullen.” Robbert: “Dat denk ik ook wel. Dat onze persoonlijkheden goed bij elkaar passen.” Nina: “Daarom zijn we ook toegelaten.. Nee grapje we hebben ze eigenlijk omgekocht met eten.” Wanneer dit Flowzine uitkomt zijn jullie beiden commissaris: Robbert van de SRC en Nina van de Intro. Hebben jullie er zin in en wat zijn jullie plannen?

Nina: “Ik ga de eerstejaars in ons TOP-groepje inpakken en zorgen dat ze in mijn commissie willen.” Robbert: “Denk dat het ook handig is voor jou, zodat je ze toch al een beetje leert kennen. Zelf heb ik er ook heel veel zin in. Ondanks dat het een grote klus is, is de SRC een geweldige uitdaging. Dat maakt het alleen maar leuker om eerstejaars enthousiast te maken om ook mee te gaan op de komende studiereis. Misschien pik ik er tijdens de TOP-week wel hier en daar een uit die mee wilt helpen organiseren. Maar we zullen ze sowieso richting commissies sturen waarvan wij denken dat ze er goed bijpassen.” Nina: “We hebben er natuurlijk heel veel zin in. Zowel de TOP-week als het commissarisschap..we zijn natuurlijk diehard Flow’ers dus dat komt wel goed. Robbert: “Voor mij hetzelfde, ik kan niet snel genoeg beginnen.”

Het interview sluiten we af met de vraag of het samenwonen met andere Flow’ers een aanrader is. Nina: “Persoonlijk denk ik dat je heel goed moet nadenken of je écht met iemand in een huis wilt wonen. Twee Nina’s naast elkaar zou echt een gigantische ramp worden.”

Robbert: “Je moet er wel op letten dat het iemand is waarmee je het goed kunt vinden, waar je naartoe kunt stappen voor hulp met je studie of iets anders wat je dwars zit. Hij of zij moet het ook niet erg vinden om een keertje niet samen te zijn. Dat je gewoon op bed kunt liggen en elkaar een hele dag niet ziet.” Nina: “Bij ons is de gouden sleutel dat we onze eigen kamer hebben. We hebben niet echt een gemeenschappelijke ruimte behalve de keuken, geen woonkamer. En we hoeven elkaar niet aan te spreken op gedrag. Het enige wat we delen is de wc en die maak ik schoon. Wel vraag ik weleens aan Robbert van ‘goh wil jij de trap schoonmaken’.” Robbert: “Ja en twee weken later is de trap dan schoon.” Nina: “Haha ja dat klopt. Maar ik kan me ook voorstellen dat als je in een huis woont waar je elkaar wel moet aanspreken dat voor frustratie zorgt. Omdat wij zeven andere huisgenoten hebben die we nooit zien is dat toch anders.” Robbert: “Ja..dus, aanrader. Je kan er heel veel aan hebben.” Nina: “Maar onthoud dat je je eigen plekje moet hebben en elkaar privacy moet respecteren.” Robbert: “Het moet niet teveel van het goede worden.” Nina: “Ja..Trouwens, ik heb een pluisje in m’n oog.”

Bijzondere banen Vol goede moed begon je een paar jaar geleden of nog maar zeer recent aan deze opleiding. De opleiding en de vakken leken je interessant en met CIW kan je toch nog alle kanten op. Dat was of is allemaal een zorg voor later. Toch is het op een bepaald moment tijd om te kijken wat je nu precies wilt en welke kanten je op kunt met CIW.

Studieadviseurs en docenten hadden wel het een en ander gezegd over het werkende leven na de opleiding, maar wat dat nou allemaal precies inhield.. geen idee! Want dat onze opleiding breed is, is een understatement. Je ziet CIW’ers terug op de meest uiteenlopende plekken. Neem bijvoorbeeld Rowinda Appelman. Zij is President van de Youth Atlantic Treaty Association (YATA), waar zij onder andere meedenkt over de toekomst van de NAVO vanuit een jongerenperspectief. Naast deze drukke, internationale baan heeft zij ook haar eigen platform voor expats, AMS Connected, opgericht. Of Elsbeth, afgestudeerd als CIW’er, is ooit begonnen met een werkervaringsstage Public Relations voor Nederland en België bij Trivago. Deze organisatie ken je natuurlijk als de grootste hotelzoekmachine van de wereld. Inmiddels is ze werkzaam op de afdeling Internal Communications, Process & Change Management op het kantoor in Düsseldorf. Daar zorgt ze ervoor dat de informatie over hotels op Trivago compleet, correct en up-to-date is. Even concreet: buiten de website met zoekresultaten die bezoekers daadwerkelijk zien, zorgt ze dat alle informatie correct in de database staat en dat de zoekfunctie naar behoren functioneert.

Ook Lisa heeft een unieke baan gevonden na haar studie, als Junior Productmanager Sieraden, Horloges en Accesoires bij Bol.com. Voor de website zorgt ze dat de content en afbeeldingen van de producten goed zichtbaar zijn. Verder richt ze zich op de invulling van marketing campagnes en schrijft ze teksten voor op de homepages. Tot slot overlegt ze met de Designafdeling hoe de banners eruit moeten komen te zien. Het opzetten van pilots en het meten van de effecten neemt ook de nodige uren van een gemiddelde werkdag in beslag. Naast deze banen zijn er natuurlijk nog veel meer waar je terecht kunt met je opleiding. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan (content) marketeer, product specialist, projectmanager, redacteur, copywriter, grafisch vormgever, etc. Kijk waar jouw kracht ligt en wat jouw interesses zijn en volg je hart!

Recipe: Pasta pesto If you’re looking for a simple, quick and cheap dish, look no further. Pasta Pesto is here to help!

Yield: 4 persons Prep time: 15 minutes Total time: 30 minutes Utensils: cutting board, knife Price per person: 3,19 euro

Directions: Before you start preparing the sauce, start boiling the water for the pasta. Thank me later.

Now for the actual meal-prep: 1. You start off by chopping the chicken in small pieces. Size really doesn’t matter, so feel free to choose whatever size seems best to you. Season the chicken with a dash of salt and pepper. 2. Peel the onion and start dicing it. It’s okay to cry, we won’t judge. 3. Next, peel the garlic. If you have a garlic press, you can use this later on. If you don’t have a garlic press, dice the cloves. Tip: if you wet your fingers before touching the garlic, the garlic-smell won’t stick as long.

Ingredients:

8. Throw your pasta into the boiling water for ±7 minutes. Set a timer! Tip: by adding a little oil to the water, the pasta won’t stick together as much. 9. Next, add the onion and garlic to the chicken-spinach mixture. Stir this around a little. 10. Add the green pesto to the frying pan. Stir until the pesto is evenly distributed throughout the ingredients. 11. Lastly, take the crème fraîche and add it to the frying pan. Stir this in as well. 12. Finish your sauce with a little pepper and salt. Or not. Whatever. 13. Check a piece of chicken before serving the dish. If it’s not cooked fully through, wait a little while longer.

4. Take your fresh spinach and chop it all up. It may seem like a huge amount, but spinach will shrink a lot when heated.

14. Drain the pasta. You can either stir it through the sauce right away, or serve the pasta and sauce separately.

5. If you chose to add mushrooms to the dish, dice these as well. Would be a bit silly to throw them in as a whole, wouldn’t it?

Et voilà, bon appetite!*

6. Heat a good splash of oil in a frying pan over a medium heat. Add the chopped chicken and cook halfway-through. 7. Add the spinach to the frying pan, get those veggies in there! You might have to do this in several portions, otherwise it won’t fit. Stir this around a little until all spinach has been added.
