FINANCIAL AID
In addition to scholarships, federal aid is available to eligible students to help cover costs at Boise State. Applying for federal aid begins with the FAFSA, available online at fafsa.gov. Submitting the FAFSA allows you to be considered for:
• GRANTS: Gift aid that does not need to be repaid
• LOANS: Aid borrowed by students and/or parents that is repaid after leaving school
• WORK-STUDY: Aid earned by working at an on-campus job
• SCHOLARSHIPS: Gift aid awarded on a merit or need basis, which is determined by the FAFSA
FAFSA Tips:
You and a parent (if you are a dependent student) will each need to create a Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID to electronically sign the FAFSA. Sign up for an FSA ID at studentaid.gov/fsa-id. The FAFSA takes less than an hour to complete and should be completed each year to be considered for aid. The FAFSA is scheduled to open in December.
To be considered for the best and highest amount of aid, submit the FAFSA by Boise State’s Priority Deadline, December 15 if you are a nonresident student or February 15 if you are an Idaho resident. Applicants submitting after February 15 are still considered for loans and grants.
