IT’S WHAT MAKES STUART HALL DISTINCT.
Stuart Hall is a school built for boys and designed to help them thrive. At the heart of the Stuart Hall experience is our shared values system — the defining mark of a Stuart Hall boy. Faith, Scholarship, Leadership, and Honor are not merely words here. They are the values upon which the philosophy of the school rests.
IT’S SCIENCE: BOYS LEARN DIFFERENTLY.
There is extensive research into the way that boys and girls learn and it is now evident that boys and girls do learn differently for biological and educational reasons. Boys learn best through movement, hands-on activities, spatial and visual experiences, play, and cooperative assignments. An all-boys environment helps to foster lifelong friendships and form a brotherhood among classmates.
At Stuart Hall, we understand and celebrate boys. Stuart Hall is the place Where Good Boys Become Great Men.

a boy on his lifelong journey. It is a road filled with responsibility and accomplishment, of learning and leadership — of discovering and nurturing strengths in himself that he never knew he had. It is a journey to become the man God is calling him to be.

Our young Knights begin each day with play, allowing them to learn essential skills such as problem solving, working with others, and sharing. In turn, this helps them develop the ability to concentrate.
AN EDUCATION EXPRESSLY FOR BOYS.
The Stuart Hall experience goes far beyond what happens in the classroom. It’s about eye contact and a firm handshake. It’s about building a foundation for a life centered on a love for learning, a desire to help others, and a commitment to Gospel values. It’s about teaching boys to be Kind, Courteous, Respectful, and Responsible.
Research on boys’ brains and how they learn informs what happens in the classroom. Faculty members design lessons that are engaging, active, and hands-on. Boys speak up, move around, and stay engaged.
With an average class size of 18 students, each boy is fully involved. He is asked to do more than he expected, and the results are beyond what he could ever imagine.
KNIGHTHOOD INVESTITURE PROGRAM
During the Middle School years, boys may pursue Knighthood, the highest distinction the school offers. The program culminates in Seventh Grade when each boy researches, designs, presents, and defends his personal shield, which represents all he has learned in his formative years at Stuart Hall.

“STUART HALL BEGAN AS A DREAM
IN MY HEART,” declared William Gallop, the school’s founding headmaster. “This dream was nurtured most carefully with prayer.” In 1984, following twelve years as headmaster at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans, Gallop felt the call to create a new school that would fill a need which had not previously been met in New Orleans. His vision was to offer a Catholic education for all boys in an independent, preparatory-school environment.
A TRAINING GROUND FOR LEADERS.
In the classrooms, halls, and grounds of the school’s Uptown campus, boys become leaders — in school, their homes, their careers, and their communities. The structure and mission of the school create an environment that values character formation as much as academic rigor. Stuart Hall holds this high standard of behavior to encourage the transformation of boys into young men.
Boys are encouraged to discover their own special gifts, to cultivate a strong sense of self-worth, and to develop competence. Stuart Hall challenges each boy to use all of his gifts wisely and to accept responsibility for his actions. Beginning in PK3, all of the programs at Stuart Hall are enriched through technology. Boys attend specialization classes in world language, religion, counseling, art, library, music, METALS, and physical education.
BOY FOCUSED
Since our founding in 1984, hundreds of New Orleans area families have trusted Stuart Hall with the formation of their boys. Stuart Hall’s approach encourages boys to develop selfesteem and teaches them to see mistakes as a way of learning. Our program encourages them to develop values while they deepen their relationship with God.
Here at Stuart Hall, boys develop friendships that last a lifetime, gain a sense of self-confidence, and exhibit the traits of respect, integrity, and honesty.

TIES BIND that
THE DIFFERENCE IS FORMATION.
Since its founding in 1984, the mission of the Stuart Hall School community is to live the words of Catholic educator Janet Erskine Stuart, RSCJ,
Faculty and staff are dedicated to working with parents to help each child build a foundation for a life centered on a love for learning, a desire to help others, and a commitment to Gospel values.
Stuart Hall immerses boys in a supportive, character-based culture in which he can thrive inside and outside the classroom. From our boy-centered curriculum to our supportive atmosphere to the breadth of extracurricular, athletic, and after school activities, Stuart Hall’s focus on formation produces young men of character, integrity, and boundless capability.
A PLACE TO GROW AND LEARN
Stuart Hall boys form deep, lifelong relationships with faculty, administration, and their peers. They discover new interests, develop confidence, practice resilience, and learn independence in a community built on trust and mutual respect.

QUALITIES of the MONTH
EACH MONTH, THE SCHOOL FOCUSES ON a special quality of character development. During the month in weekly Chapel, in the classroom, and throughout school life, faculty and the administration encourage the boys to learn and grow in this particular quality. The emphasis is on individual growth in a life of virtue.
Each grade level from Kindergarten to Seventh Grade leads the school’s focus on a Quality of the Month. Faculty initiate class activities and discussions, service projects, or creative writing exercises that enable the children to reflect on and practice the month’s quality. Students are honored for showcasing individual growth in the previous month’s quality at First Friday services.
LIVING THE MISSION
The Qualities of the Month are one of the more visible ways Stuart Hall lives out its mission, “Education is formation, not just information.” They represent an essential component of the school’s intentional emphasis on character development and virtues.

ACTION
STUART HALL SEEKS to develop in each boy a strong faith in God, in himself, in others, and in our country. Stuart Hall is a unique expression of Catholic education because it is administered and staffed by lay people. The traditions of Catholic education, such as First Friday services, Mass, chapel, the religion program, and the prayer life are meaningful expressions of Faith.

SHAPING SPIRITUAL GROWTH.
Stuart Hall is blessed to partner with parents to help our boys grow into the men that God calls them to be. Faith is at the heart of campus life, and the foundation. The entire student body participates in ageappropriate chapel services, community prayer, and religion classes.
The development of a boy’s spiritual life incorporates one of the school’s four core values: Honor. Honor springs from sensitivity to the needs of others. It is the development of character within each child through the building of respect, integrity, and honesty. The living out of these endeavors creates the attribute of honor within a child.
MOTHER STUART’S INSPIRATION
The school is named for Janet Erskine Stuart, RSCJ, a well-known religious of the Sacred Heart who was an English educator living at the turn of the century. Janet Erskine Stuart’s writings and philosophy transcend the limits of time and serve as the inspiration for not only Stuart Hall’s approach to curriculum and formation, but also its expression of faith.

SCHOOL PRAYER
Heavenly Father,
As a man of Stuart Hall, and through the intercession of Mother Stuart, I humbly ask that you:
Help me to be a leader who treats others with love and respect.
Help me to be a scholar who strives to grow in understanding and wisdom.
Help me to have faith and to remember the love of Jesus in everything that I do.
Help me to have honor and the courage to always do the right thing.
THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR, Masses are held to celebrate Holy Days of Obligation and other special occasions. Parents and family are invited to join and participate as a community.
The first day of the school week for Grades 1-7 begins with Morning Chapel. Preschool boys attend a separate Chapel service on Wednesdays.
The morning Chapel service is an important part of the school day and consists of the Lord’s Prayer, a story or theme for the day, the Quality of the Month presentations, music, student recognitions, and school announcements. Preschool boys attend Chapel on Wednesday mornings. This service gives boys the opportunity to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, discuss the Quality of the Month, and pray together for friends and family.
Stuart Hall benefits from visiting priests, deacons, and seminarians, as well as our own spiritual leaders on campus to guide us in our faith life.
