Greetings from Dharma Jyoti!

Dearly Beloved in Christ, It is of immense joy for me to address you through the monthly News Letter. Let us remember with thanksgiving to God for the creative and successful ministry of the Rev. Thomas Koshy Panchamootil and family. As we await the coming of the new Vicar, pray that the coming will be expedited so that the people of God will be given the needed pastoral care at the earliest.

I had a good time with you during the Passion Week and a few days after. You have given me love and a lot of opportunities to minister to you. I appreciate the earnestness of the people and their love for the Church.

I pray that you’ll always realize the presence, power and providence of God. I had special regard for our children and young people. Just as they cultivate career ambitions, they need to be focused and founded on the Word of God to be ‘solid’ people and faithful Christians.

During the month of May we celebrate the Day of Pentecost. Jesus promised us a ‘gift’ and that sure gift is the gift of the Holy Spirit. The disciples were lost and out of gear, they found new energy and new focus with the pouring out of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost.

Gift of the Holy Spirit assures us of his presence that we are not alone, but the whole power of God is at our disposal to work for his Kingdom. Jesus said, “I will not leave you orphaned.” (Jn. 14:18). It is like new ‘software’ to do more things and experience more in life. He liberates us from our fears and pathos.

Spirit to guides us and gives us sense of purpose and direction. “The Holy Spirit will teach you everything and remind you of all that I have said to you.” (Jn. 14:26) This engagement is unpredictable and unprecedented. Jesus in his dialogue with Nicodemus speaks of this ‘wind of God.’ (Jn. 3:8) Spirit cleanses us to be pure and holy. Holy Spirit is compared to fire and it has the power to burn. Just as the gold is purified, the Spirit will cleanse us from our lethargy and dross. “And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment.” (Jn. 16:8) We are set apart for God’s use in this world. We become agents of transformation and renewal.

Spirit kindles in us the passion for mission. The call is renewed and the mandate is refreshed. “When the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all of Judea, and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8) The early church reached out to the world in the Name of Jesus. They proved to the people that Jesus is living in them and working out His designs.

God takes very simple and ordinary people and makes them do extraordinary things. In that legacy God has been gracious to include us also. Let us be earnest and ready to embark on the work of the Kingdom of God. It is challenging and demanding. Let us prepared ourselves and follow Him on the way of the Cross.

The new Executive Committee has taken over and now functioning. Our prayers and best wishes are with them to develop a community of faith, hope and love. My prayers and best wishes are also with the Choir who are earnestly preparing for the great MESSIAH programme.

I am sure; you’ll continue to support the mission work in North India through Dharma Jyoti. I would appreciate the participation of all members of the St. Thomas Family.

The Church grieves the loss of two Achens, the Rev. K. G. Koshy and the Rev. Mathew Thomas (Chachipunna). As we pay tribute for their lives and contributions, let us pray for peace to their loved ones.

The following quote will give us enough tools to live the present successfully bearing the ‘fruit of the Spirit’: The best thing to give . . .

To your enemy is forgiveness; To an opponent, tolerance; To a friend, your heart; To your child, a good example; To a father, deference; To your mother, conduct that will make her proud of you; To yourself, respect; To all men, charity. (Lord Balfour) May God bless us and keep us in His love.
