The Group’s integrated ecosystem delivers end-to-end value, with subsidiaries complementing each other through a diverse brand portfolio committed to customer satisfaction, technology-driven services, and empowering Zimbabwe’s industrial and transportation ambitions. This new headquarters, a commercial environment designed to elevate every interaction, reflects Tsapo Group’s market dominance. Its striking facade, commanding views, thoughtfully appointed interiors, and manicured landscaping all speak to a dedication to quality and a forward-thinking vision. The journey started in 2021 when Inviktvs Design Group (IDG) was commissioned to spearhead the design of the new workshop and showroom. Led by IDG’s Design Principal, Benedict Kunaka, the same technical team responsible for 31 Airport Road, collaborated on this significantly larger and more complex undertaking.

Benedict explained their initial challenge: “to create a workshop for heavy trucks and yellow equipment and house all the staff and various requirements under the same building.” Their solution was a unique, repetitive steel structural motif allowing for a large, uninterrupted workshop span. They pushed steel’s boundaries, departing from conventional designs. The result was an organic, curved, self-supporting portal frame, giving the workshop its strikingly unique aesthetic.

Tsapo Group’s new headquarters welcomes visitors with an expansive, brightly lit interior. Large, reflective white tiles with subtle grey veining create an immediate sense of spaciousness and sophistication. The ground floor seamlessly integrates a grand reception with two distinct, state-of-the-art BYD showrooms, highlighting Tsapo Group’s diverse portfolio.

The first showroom, to the right of reception, captivates with prominently showcased BYD SUVs—red, black, and grey—gleaming under high ceilings and extensive glass walls that maximize natural light. A mezzanine level, accessed via a stylish staircase, adds to the building’s multi-layered design.

The second showroom, with its own entrance before the main reception, is equally impressive.

Vast windows offer picturesque views of landscaped outdoor areas. Its polished, light-colored tiled floor creates a serene atmosphere, with strategically arranged outdoor-style furniture inviting contemplation and relaxation.

Kingswood Contracting, specialists in residential, commercial, geotechnical and special projects contractor, undertook the construction of the project. They are a reputable company with a long list of satisfied customers. Prior to working on the Tsapo Group head office, they have had a wide portfolio of elegant and classic buildings, including BYD building along airport road and the Hippodrome Conference Centre.

Kingswood Contracting’s brilliance shines in the seamless integration of glass and metal partitions, maintaining an open feel while defining spaces. Frosted designs and varied floor tiles add privacy, aesthetic flourish, and visual interest. “This new head office is a significant milestone for Tsapo Group,” states Elonah, Group Marketing Manager. “It’s a physical representation of our growth, commitment to clients, and belief in Zimbabwe’s business future.” The expansive showrooms enhance operations and showcase their diverse offerings.

Kingswood Contracting’s attention to detail and innovative techniques are evident throughout Tsapo Group’s new head office. From perfectly aligned tiles to flawless glass partitions and sophisticated lighting, they’ve crafted a masterpiece encapsulating Tsapo Group’s vision.

“We’re incredibly proud of our work on the Tsapo Group head office,” says Tanaka Chiduku, Site Civil Engineer at Kingswood Contracting. “This project’s curved structural elements and extensive glass presented unique challenges, but our team’s expertise ensured every detail met the highest standards.

Our focus was translating IDG’s visionary design into a practical, durable, and aesthetically pleasing reality, showcasing our commitment to quality. ”The collaborative spirit between the design team and the construction team was crucial. “Construction by its very nature is a rigorous and demanding process, and this project dates four years from inception to completion.

A journey full of insights, relationship building, working with various trades and disciplines from across three continents,” added Benedict, highlighting the complex nature of the build. “Four years on, we look back at what was an enriching and very rewarding experience, especially when you see the complete work, a vision we conceived during the COVID-19 era, now a concrete reality.”Tsapo Group’s new head office, a hub of innovation and success, showcases Kingswood Contracting’s exceptional craftsmanship in complex builds, significantly enhancing Harare’s architectural landscape.

ZIMBABWE CHAMPIONING STANDARDIZED PROPERTY VALUATION ACROSS AFRICA

A powerful call for a unified approach to property valuation across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and, ultimately, the entire African Union (AU) has been made, aimed at elevating professional advice and fostering greater transparency across the continent. This significant proposition came from Dr. A Kwangwama, Chairman of the Valuers Council of Zimbabwe (@ValuersCouncilZim), during his address at the recent Africa Valuation Conference.

This initiative, strongly supported by influential figures like Kura Chihota (@KuraChihota), emphasizes the critical need for a standardized framework for property valuation. Currently, variations in valuation practices across different African nations can create inconsistencies, complicate cross-border investments, and potentially hinder economic integration. A common SADC standard, designed to seamlessly roll up into broader AU standards, would streamline processes, enhance investor confidence, and promote a more robust and reliable real estate market throughout Africa.

Dr. Kwangwama highlighted that such a standard would ensure that valuations are consistent, credible, and universally understood, thereby facilitating smoother transactions and reducing risks for investors, developers, and property owners alike. This move is not merely about technical alignment; it’s about building trust and fostering an environment where professional advice is consistently high-quality and dependable across diverse jurisdictions.

The implications of this proposal are far-reaching. By adopting common standards, African nations can unlock greater intra-African trade and investment in real estate, supporting the continent’s ambitious development agendas. It signifies a proactive step towards a more integrated and economically vibrant Africa, driven by precise and professionally sound property valuation practices.

The call to action is clear: "Let's have a SADC standard of property valuation rolling up into AU standards to drive professional advice across the continent." This vision, championed from Zimbabwe, sets a precedent for regional collaboration and professional excellence.
