Employee Spotlight: Tyler Norkus, Sales at Wysh

What does a typical day in your role look like?

Every day is a mix of meetings, follow-ups, and outreach. I think of my schedule like filling a bucket big rocks first (customer and internal meetings), then smaller tasks like follow-ups and research, and finally, the sand calls and emails to potential clients. I probably make about 100 calls a day, checking in with people I’ve met at conferences or reaching out to new prospects. Sales is all about persistence it can take months of calls and emails before a deal actually moves forward.

Sales takes a lot of patience. How do you stay motivated?

It’s definitely a long game, and there’s a lot of rejection. But I’ve learned that if I keep putting in the work, the wins will come. I’ve seen deals take a year to close, so I just focus on building relationships and keeping the momentum going. Every win makes the next one easier. Plus, I love what I do I get to help people see how Wysh fits into their goals, whether it’s a bank trying to attract younger customers or a credit union launching a new product.

What’s a fun fact about you that your coworkers might not know?

I’m a dual citizen I have both American and German citizenship. I grew up in Boston, but I’ve traveled a lot and try to visit Germany when I can. Outside of work, I’m a big Celtics fan, I love the outdoors, and I have a schnauzer who loves to swim and even catches fish!

Favorite food spot?

I’m a huge taco fan. There’s a place called IHeart Tacos in Louisville that has all kinds of tacos Mexican, Korean, Indian you name it. If I could eat tacos every day, I probably would!

If your job had a theme song, what would it be?

Eye of the Tiger. Sales can feel like training for a big fight you have to stay focused, keep pushing, and never give up.

Finding Your Ikigai: A Reason for

Being

What gets you out of bed in the morning? Is it the work you do, the people you help, the hobbies that light you up, or maybe a blend of all these things? In our recent DEI Committee meeting, we explored the Japanese concept of Ikigai (⽣き甲斐) a beautiful philosophy that translates to "a reason for being."

At its heart, Ikigai is about discovering the intersection between what you love, what you’re good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for. It’s the sweet spot where passion, mission, vocation, and profession come together to create a fulfilling life. For some, that might mean making a difference in their community or helping others thrive. For others, it could be diving into creative pursuits or mastering a skill they’re deeply passionate about.

Living with Ikigai doesn’t mean having everything figured out. It’s about embracing the journey of self-discovery, celebrating small joys, and finding purpose in everyday moments. Whether you’re driven by helping others, solving complex problems, or simply sharing kindness, your Ikigai is uniquely yours.

Curious to dive deeper? Check out this article for more inspiration on how to embrace Ikigai in your own life.

Here’s to finding what moves you and making each day a little more meaningful.

Employee Recognition: From Micah to Yanxin

I want to shout out Yanxin for being such an amazing new member of our team! Yanxin is not only a very talented and creative designer, but one of the most kind people you will ever meet.

I believe within the first week of working here, she was already on a first name basis with most of the building staff. And at this point she has local restaurant owners double stamping her loyalty cards whenever she goes in, just because they like her more than anyone else.

And she's no less great at her work, really leaning into our company values, especially embracing ambiguity. She is already becoming a Braze expert, and has completely rebuilt the design library and components system from which we build our emails. Her work is clean and precise and she is always willing to put in the extra step to make it that much better.

If you don't already know Yanxin, I highly recommend finding any excuse to work on a project with her!
