Start a Summer Diary
Keep a daily diary documenting your summer activities, feelings and experiences.
Garden Study
Choose a plant growing in your garden. Measure and record how it grows over the holidays, creating graphs to represent the data.
Write a Book Review
What is your favourite book? What happens and why is it special to you?
How Big?
Measure lots of different objects around your house and garden. How high is the chair you sit on? How wide is your front door? What shapes can you identify around your home?

Get Lost in a Book
Read a new book. And another. And another!
Facts Are Fun
Are you visiting a new place during the holidays? Create a fact file about it and wow your family with your knowledge.
What Time Is It?
Practise telling the time using an analogue clock.
Get Poetic
Write a poem or song about anything you like. It could be about a favourite memory, a lovely day out, a friend or a family member.
Times Tables
Learn your 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 times tables and become a master !

Feel Nature
Feast your eyes on everything around you when you are next out for a walk. When you get home, write descriptions of the plants, animals and weather and how the walk made you feel.
Read Out Loud
Take turns reading aloud from a book with a sibling or parent.
Become a Master Builder
Spend time building structures with Lego or other building blocks, focusing on symmetry, patterns and area.
Keep a Journal
Jot down any new words you encounter while reading. You can then look up the definitions and write example sentences.

Read a Magazine
Spend some of your pocket money on a magazine that interests you. National Geographic Kids is fantastic if you love animals!
Test Yourself
How quickly can you read a page of a book and then summarise it accurately? Try and beat it next time.

Try Something New
Maybe learn to play chess or try a new musical instrument. You might discover a hidden passion!
Help Someone Else
Ask if you can help your parents with a job around the house. Offer to clear up after a meal or help wash up.
Puzzling Puzzles
How many jigsaws can you complete over the summer? Mrs Hughes does at least three every day!

Would you know what to say or do if you had to call the emergency services? (Ambulance, Fire Service or Police). Ask your parent or carer about this. Remember – never call unless it’s a real emergency!

Pack Your Bag
If you are going on holiday or staying overnight with a grandparent or friend, pack your own bag (pyjamas ... check, toothbrush check).
Bounce Bounce Bounce
Don’t forget to play outside. Skip, jump, run, hop, catch. Be as active as you can!
Find Your Way
Go for a walk with your family and try using a map or compass to navigate.
Bake Off
Learn how to bake a cake from scratch (this is a great one for a rainy day).

Become an expert at cutting tricky shapes with scissors and drawing straight lines when using a ruler.

Get those legs moving – go on long walks or bike rides. Make the most of the summer weather and have a picnic.
Climb a Tree
Find the perfect tree to climb in your garden or out on a walk.
Tell Jokes Like a Pro
Learn a few cracking jokes to tell your family and friends and enjoy the laughter !
