Members of Strabane Down Syndrome Support Group attended a cheque presentation at Grants in Omagh on January 25. The group was one of a number of charity organisations to receive a cheque for £1650 from Teamtalk Magazine. The group was also the recipient of a cheque for £1000, courtesy of Kieran Kennedy of O’Neill’s Sportswear.

The North Tyrone Ulster Farmers Union also presented a cheque for £690 from the money raised at their Christmas table quiz. The Support Group would like to thank everyone involved for their generosity, in particular Pearl Smyth for nominating the group.

Driving and Vision Good eyesight is essential for safe driving and poor vision can impair your driving performance. If you notice or suspect any change in your vision, do not delay, visit your optometrist. It is a criminal offence to drive with eyesight below the legal standard.

Key Facts 1. Your vision can change at any age and at any stage in your driving career. You should have your eyes tested every two years so sooner if recomended by your optometrist.

There are many reasons people give for putting of an eyetest such as they don’t want to wear spectacles as it makes them feel old, too busy or worried about the cost. However spectacles are now a fashion statement with designer brands such as Gucci.

Contact lenses are also an option and are very comfortable and safe to use.

EU INVESTS €23 MILLION IN A NEW ‘GREEN WAY’ FORWARD , CROSS-BORDER TRAVEL

The EU’s INTERREG VA Programme has offered approximately €23.27 million in funding for three new cross-border greenway projects that will open up new sustainable travel routes for both cyclists and pedestrians.

One of the projects will involve Strabane to Lifford via Lifford Bridge.

Greenways are corridors of land that are recognised for their ability to connect people and places together. They enhance existing outdoor recreational opportunities and can be used equally by cyclists, walkers and joggers.

The overall objective of the INTERREG VA

Programme in supporting the three projects is to increase the number of cross-border journeys made by cycling or walking by up to 10% across the region by 2023. €14.86m has been offered to the ‘North West Greenways Network’ that will create a network of 46.5 km of new greenways through three distinct routes connecting: Derry-Londonderry via Pennyburn to Buncrana; Muff Village to Derry via Culmore; and Strabane to Lifford via Lifford Bridge.

These routes have been carefully selected to achieve the greatest impact on carbon emission reduction.

€3.46m worth of EU funding has been offered for the development of the ‘Carlingford Lough Greenway’ which will create 10.1 km of new cross-border greenway, linking Newry City in Northern Ireland to Carlingford in Ireland. It will also create and implement a promotional marketing campaign to raise awareness of the benefits of walking and cycling for regular everyday commuters. €4.95m worth of funding has also been offered for the development of the ‘Ulster Canal Greenway (Phase 2)’ enabling the creation of 22 km of new greenway between Co. Monaghan and Co. Armagh. The new greenway will follow the route of the disused Ulster Canal from Smithborough through to Monaghan Town, cross the Armagh border at Ardgonnell and extend onwards to Middletown.

Match-funding for the projects has been provided by the Department for Infrastructure in Northern Ireland and the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport in Ireland.

Welcoming the funding Northern Ireland’s Infrastructure Minister Chris Hazzard MLA, said: “I recently gave the green light to 1,000km of greenways across the north.

I am delighted that three key cross-border routes to link Derry and Strabane to Donegal, Newry to Carlingford and Middletown to Smithboro – which all tie into this network – have secured this offer of EU co-financing.

The benefits of developing greenways go well beyond transport. The health, economic, environmental and social impacts help enhance the quality of life for users. This funding demonstrates commitment to further develop sustainable transport options here.”

Welcoming the funding offers Ireland’s Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport Shane Ross TD, said: “I am delighted to

hear of the decision of SEUPB to award funding to these greenway projects under the INTERREG VA Programme. These projects will provide valuable cross border corridors for use by both commuter and leisure cyclists and further enhance the level of cross-border co-operation between jurisdictions.

“The delivery of these projects ties in with my Department’s vision for the development of a nationwide network of greenways.

Projects such as these bring numerous benefits - including economic, social, health and environmental - to the communities through which they pass or which are linked by them. The potential for these routes to be used by commuters travelling to and from work each day offers an opportunity to reduce dependence on the private car and help reduce carbon emissions. They also offer excellent potential to attract visitors to the areas with positive impacts on local economies.

“The commitment of all parties involved in the planning, development and submission of applications for these projects to SEUPB is admirable. My Department and Donegal, Monaghan and Louth local authorities look forward to working closely with our counterparts in Northern Ireland on the delivery of these projects,” he continued.

Commenting on the funding awards Gina McIntyre CEO of the Special EU Programmes Body, which manages the INTERREG VA Programme, said: “These three distinct, yet interconnected projects, will substantially increase the quality and quantity of greenway offering on both sides of the border.

Collectively they will help to deliver upon one of the core objectives of the INTERREG VA Programme in terms of increasing the number of eco-friendly cross-border journeys, made on a daily basis.”

IFI commits £3.6m to 32 local community projects The International Fund for Ireland has announced its latest funding package of £3.6 million. 32 community projects are being supported including Strabane AYE, which has been successful in funding across two programmes.

The Peace Impact Programme will see £62,591/€75,109 go to Strabane AYE (Access Youth Engagement) for a one-year project that will operate across Londonderry/Derry City, South of County Derry/Londonderry, South Antrim, Belfast and Newry. This new project builds on highly successful AYE model and will establish a Regional AYE structure to establish projects in each of the target communities to help address the current feeling of abandonment amongst disengaged and marginalised young people across the region of Northern Ireland.

The PYDP- personal youth development programme will see £91,888/€110,265 go to Strabane AYE to deliver the ‘Strabane Youth Support Programme’ which involves a wide range of programmes and activities that will actively engage young people and develop their capacity, confidence and skills. The project will help participants deal with the disaffection and tackle underlying issues, promote active citizenship and improve resilience.

Dr Adrian Johnston, Chairman of the International Fund for Ireland, said: “Since our Community Consolidation - Peace Consolidation Strategy launched, we’ve invested with confidence in bold projects that have enabled communities to reverse the severe effects of division and divert young people away from the influence of armed gangs.

However, community appetite for these initiatives is much greater than the resources we alone can assign to it.

“Community groups are taking risks and generating momentum for change, but for progress to be sustainable support from statutory authorities is critically needed. The time is right for others to adopt and support Fund interventions and deliver on the promise of a shared society that is free from sectarianism and the shadow of paramilitaries.”

New bonfire policy to take joined up approach to burning issue Members of the Health and Community Committee today gave their backing to a new bonfire policy for the Derry and Strabane district, which takes a cohesive approach to tackling the issue involving a wide range of statutory and community partners.

The policy aims to provide a framework for minimising the impact of bonfires on Council land and subject to further approval from Full Council, a consultation process will now get underway in the coming months involving local agencies, groups and the general public. A number of public consultation events will take place to gauge the response to the new policy to ensure everyone has the opportunity to feed into the proposed action plan.

Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Alderman Hilary McClintock, said she welcomed Members’ decision to support the adoption of the proposed policy. “I think this sends a strong message that Council is committed to the development of an effective resolution to this issue, and although within some communities bonfires are part of their cultural identity public safety and protection of the environment are also important.

“This inclusive and collaborative approach will promote communication between the many statutory agencies and

community representatives who deal with the issue on the ground, and where local residents and businesses do not want bonfires in their neighbourhoods, we will seek to find alternatives to bonfires which will enhance community relations and benefit local people.

I look forward to seeing the plans progress now to the next stage.”

Head of Community Development and Leisure with Derry City and Strabane District Council, Barry O’Hagan, said the policy would offer more definitive guidance on the issues surrounding bonfires on council lands.

“We are aware that every year this issue has become a point of contention for many local communities,” he said. “This new policy aims to bring together all those partners with a vested interest in finding resolutions to the problem and at its core is Council’s commitment to controlling risk to members of the public accessing Council Land.

“We aim to work closely with partners including the emergency services, Housing Executive and other statutory bodies, as well as the public, over the coming months to develop a policy and action plan which addresses the key issues. While we recognize that bonfires are regarded as an expression of cultural identity, the strategy will explore and promote

safer alternatives to bonfires which will be acceptable to all.

“We recognize that this process will take time, but are committed to working with communities to bring about the cultural change needed in our approach to bonfires through raising awareness and promoting understanding regarding the potential risks of such events. Council asks that all communities engage with the consultation process and give their recommendations regarding

actions which would assist in finding long-term resolution of the issue.”

In order to implement the proposed strategy, a multidepartmental working group will be established to assess the impact of bonfires across Derry and Strabane and review policy on an annual basis. The group will also engage with those who participate in bonfires to provide guidance and direction, as well as set up educational interventions

“I want to pay credit to Martin McGuiness. For over ten years, as deputy First Minister, Martin McGuinness has worked tirelessly to make these institutions deliver for all our people. He took a leadership role to promote equality, respect, and reconciliation. His record, his commitment and the limitless energy he has brought to this process is beyond question. “During that time, he has faced threats, a lack of respect and a

failure by the DUP to reciprocate his Trojan efforts. He persevered, because it was the right thing to do. “The DUP have treated the institutions in the north and sections of our community with contempt and arrogance. “They have displayed disrespect towards women, the LGB&T community, ethnic communities and the Irish language and identity. That has diminished the institutions.

“The RHI scandal was created by the former First Minister when she was in the Economy Dept. Her refusal to step aside shows a total disregard for the concerns and outrage of the public. “Martin McGuinness resigned as deputy First Minister. That was the right thing to do. “We will not tolerate the arrogance and disrespect of the DUP. “Sinn FĂŠin will not tolerate

financial scandal, incompetence, or waste of public money. “The Institutions can only function with the support of the people and can only operate on the basis of equality and respect. “Sinn FĂŠin will only be part of institutions which work and deliver for all in the community. There can be no return to the status quo. “If something is broken, you stop and you fix it. That is the Sinn Fein approach.

“Martin McGuinness has acted at all times with integrity, dignity and respect. He has taken personal and political risks to build a process of reconciliation. “If we are to return to the Stormont chamber then there must be real change. There must be respect and equality for all sections of our people. “It is now over to the people to have their say.�

It takes only seconds for a toddler to lose their life on a blind cord

The dangers associated with blind cords were highlighted in a video launched in December by the Public Health Agency (PHA), in association with local councils in Northern Ireland, to encourage everyone to make their home blind cord safe.

Dr Michael McBride, Chief Medical Officer for Northern Ireland, said: “Home accidents can easily be prevented by being aware of the dangers and hazards

that are present in the home environment and putting in place interventions to minimise the risks. “Internal window blinds can pose a big risk to children between the ages of 16 months and 36 months. I did that along with the Danish Folk band “Almost Irish”. For 2017, Kevin Bridges is great, I think. It doesn’t have that scripted feel when though, it would be pretty cool to share the stage with Bryan Adams he performs his stand-up. Hilarious guy. the way Davy Spillane did in Slane 2000.

An ideal night out Ideal night out would be fairly standard: pub, mates and good conversation. Not so into the whole nightclub scene.

Netflix Serves Up A Special Diet For 2017

“Chuck” Has An “Axe” To Grind Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis are set to go head to head once again in the second season of US drama series Billions. Set in the ego-driven world of New York high finance, Billions is loosely based on the activities of crusading federal prosecutor of financial crimes Preet Bharara, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and his legal battles with hedge fund manager Steve Cohen of SAC Capital.

Lewis plays Bobby “Axe” Axelrod, an ambitious hedge fund manager who came from humble beginnings. He was one of the survivors of the hedge fund during the September 11 attacks, and thus pays the college tuitions of his former colleagues’ children. He is

extremely charitable and generous in public, but uses insider trading and bribery to grow his firm’s enormous wealth.

He is being relentlessly pursued by Charles “Chuck” Rhoades Jr. (Giamatti), U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. Rhoades is ruthless, and has a particular distaste for wealthy criminals who try to buy their way out of justice. Despite his significant power as U.S. Attorney, Rhoades struggles not to be overshadowed both by his wealthier wife, Wendy, and by his wellconnected and very rich father.

To make matters more complicated, Rhoades’ wife Wendy, played by Maggie Siff, is a psychiatrist and in-house performance coach at Axe Capital, and

she has a strong relationship with her husband’s nemesis, Axelrod, for whom she has been working for more than 15 years.

Season one focused on Rhoades’ unquenchable quest to bring Axelrod down, culminating in an explosive head to head between to the two in the final scene. That pursuit will not slowdown in season two. However, it appears that Axelrod will now make a very clear switch from the prey to the predator, as it has become clear to him that to continue in his enterprises Rhoades has to be taken down. Season one was but a warm up. Season two is all out war. Seconds out, episode one airs on February 21 on Sky Atlantic.

Santa Clarita Diet is a Netflix original comedy-horror series created by Victor Fresco, starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant. The single camera series has 13 episodes and will premiere on February 3. Married couple Sheila and Joel (Barrymore and Olyphant) are real estate agents in Santa Clarita, California.

The couple’s lives take a dark turn after Sheila goes through a transformation; in a good way.

A number of perhaps not so cryptic trailers implied that Sheila (Barrymore) dies and returns as a seemingly normal person.

However, there is one slight glitch: she can’t escape all cannibalistic zombie-like tendencies, and craves to indulge in human meat, except that of her husband’s.

Photos released prior to the series landing on Netflix also hinted at what exactly goes into the Santa Clarita diet, with ads showing Barrymore holding a cup that appears to contain fingers and blood.

The text next to her photo suggests cannibalism with language such as “eat whoever

you want” and “get the bodies you’ve always wanted.” In a similar ad featuring Barrymore’s onscreen husband, Timothy Olyphant, the diet is described as “pure protein” and “100 percent flesh.”

Santa Clarita Diet marks Barrymore’s first foray into television. Fresco’s television CV includes the likes of Better Off Ted and My Name Is Earl. The comedy will be dark, twisted and may well come with some fava beans and a nice chianti. It should certainly be worth a watch.

Omagh four-piece Not Today have just released their second EP ‘Riot Upstairs’. It showcases a band very much developing as we listen, with a spikey sound strong on grunge rawness and, at times, an ambitious tenderness. There’s a ragged quality to their sound, with much of its core steeped firmly in alternative guitar music of the eighties and nineties, particularly that of US slack-rockers The Replacements, Dinosaur Jr and, of course, Nirvana. All six tracks show a band with no fear and an ambitiousness that, if they stick around, will see them continually improve upon their previous output. Emer Maguire is a multi-instrumentalist singer songwriter based in Belfast but with roots in both Strabane and Derry. Her first commercial single, ‘Belfast’, seemly caused quite a stir when it hit the local airwaves late last year. When it arrived at the ‘Total Music’ desk, it instantly became clear that the stir was warranted. ‘Belfast’ is a delightful slice of indie folk with an insulating glow of synth hovering throughout. It would have Belfast tourism television advert written all over it were it not for the lyrical references to the more inebriated side of student life in the city, which, let’s face it, will strike a chord and a smile with many.

Invaderband – ‘Invaderband’.

The debut album by Derry based art-rockers Invaderband has finally arrived. It’s one of the first local releases of the New Year and it will probably be in many a top ten come the end of the year. Nothing is off the table as subject matter: alien invasion, war, even Alan Rickman! The sounds follow a trusted lineage that includes Magazine, The Fall and the Stranglers, with some Krautrock fetishism well and truly explored in the stunning ‘Tree Erection’. With a post-punk guitar sound that’s never afraid to veer off into the idiosyncratic, Invaderband have created a welcomed side road that many will feel compelled to embrace in 2017.

Chris McMullan to Launch New Album ‘Uilleann Tales’, in the Alley Theatre A great night of home grown music will take place in Strabane’s Alley Theatre on Friday, February 24.

He began playing music at the tender age of eight under the tuition of local piper Noel Devine, At the age of twelve he became a member of the famous Armagh Pipers Club where he received tuition from the well-known piper Tiarnan Ó Duinnchin. Chris has toured extensively throughout Europe, Scandinavia, Asia and North America. He has been a featured soloist at the world renowned Willie Clancy Festival held annually in Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare.

His musical CV is quite extensive and ‘Uilleann Tales’ will stand as a document of his musical achievements so far. February 24 promises to be wonderful night and another celebration of local music. Music To Your Ears Group Raise Funds For Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI

DO you have an hour a week to spare to befriend an older person?

If so, the Friendly Face Befriending Service would like to hear from you.

The Good Morning telephone and befriending service offers free and confidential support to people who are older, living alone or who are housebound due to illness or mobility issues.

It has been running in Inishowen for four years, it is now being extended out to two new Primary Care areas, Lifford and Castlefinn and Milford Rosguill and Fanad.

The service matches a volunteer with a person who requires the service. The volunteer provides companionship, friendship and a supportive relationship that lesson’s the effects of isolation and loneliness.

As part of their successful ‘Art of the Showband’ performance in The Alley Theatre on Friday, January 13, the Music to Your Ears group held a raffle in aid of Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI, raising a total of £237.22 and €8. One of the shows script writers, Sinead McAteer is pictured presenting proceeds to Margaret Robinson, John Etherson and Chris Kidd – committee members of the Strabane branch of Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI.

The volunteer befriender will be garda vetted and receives training that supports them in carrying out their role. The befriender also receives continuous

support from the Befriending Organiser for the duration of the relationship.

Volunteers needed now in the Lifford and Castlefin Areas and in the Milford, Rosguill and Fanad Areas.

Do you have an hour a week to befriend an older person? Make visits, enjoy mutual hobbies, interests and accompany them on short outings and activities locally?

Reasons to visit Dubai Over the past few years, Dubai’s futuristic appeal has attracted the luxury-loving jet set.

But, there’s plenty more than designer goods to entertain in the City of Gold

Loud, ambitious and unashamedly glitzy.

Dubai is a holiday destination that divides opinion more than most.

On the one hand, this metropolis-on-sea is a playground for luxury lovers - its designer shopping is unrivalled, there’s a lively nightlife scene and hotels here are bigger, taller and more in your face than New York, London or LA. On the other, the sheer amount of glass and steel can be overwhelming for the first-time visitor. It’s home to the tallest building on earth - which looms audaciously over a futuristic skyline of high-rise towers and an elevated metro system that zips through the city.

But it’s not all shopping and skyscrapers there are plenty of off-the-beaten-track activities for dubious Dubai visitors to enjoy and, most importantly, now is the time to start thinking about winter sun. Fortunately for us, the United Arab Emirates has it by the bucketload.

The cuisine Dubai has a growing culinary scene to match the ambition of its futuristic vision. There are international offerings from La Petite Maison, Zuma, Cipriani and Marina Social by Jason Atherton, while Nusr-et in the Four Seasons serves some of the best steak in town. Locals recommend heading to Al Hadheera, a restau-

rant in the desert run by five-star hotel Bab al Shams which serves an impressive live buffet of Arabic, Mediterranean, Levant and Emirati food. For sliders and milkshakes, head to Salt a trendy aluminium burger van parked on Kite Beach founded by a local Emirati. Even vegans are catered for: Bestro, a meat and dairy-free counter in the Dubai Mall serves up tasty plantbased dishes that are more than worth the hype.

Growing art scene From the hip Alserkal Avenue art district that’s emerging in the industrial Al Quoz area, to the glossy art galleries lining the Financial Centre, Dubai has a burgeoning art scene worth a visit from anyone looking to expand their collection.

The beaches If you love nothing more than the feeling of sand between your toes, you’ve come to the right place. There’s no shortage of sun, sea and sand in Dubai, although it’s important to note that the lion’s share of beaches are owned by the large resorts - meaning that if you’re not a guest, you won’t be able to access them. However, there are plenty of excellent free beaches to be found such as the popular Jumeirah public beach and the Umm Suqeim beach - which sits underneath the landmark Burj Al Arab. If you’re looking for something a little more remote, try the peaceful Al Sufouh beach, which has a spectacular view of the famous Palm Islands.

Khalifa - the tallest manmade structure on earth - or soaking up the sun at the Marina, you’re never far from an amazing view in Dubai. The city is jam-packed with skyscrapers, making for one impressive cityscape.

The Palm Islands The city’s man made islands are just some of the many examples of Dubai’s ambitious energy. These artificial archipelagos look like a stylised palm tree from above, and are primarily home to hotels, resorts and private villas. In fact, they are one of the only man made structures visible from outer space. The best way to see these spectacular islands is by boat - hire one of the yachts or speedboats offered by one of the many private touring companies, or hop aboard the Palm Monorail that runs to the Atlantis resort.

Strabane Athletic Historic Development for Strabane Athletic Strabane Athletic are pleased to announce that the club have recently acquired land to develop into a sports facility of the highest possible standard. As well as including a full size outdoor playing surface, the project and concept will also see the creation of the first indoor full size 3G pitch in Ireland. It will also see the creation of a conference and community facilities, and well being hub with spectator areas, meeting spaces with changing and treatment rooms.

This will see the beginning of an exciting new era for sporting and youth development in the north west. Neighbouring education authority junior and secondary schools mean the location is advantageously located with potential connection to the A5 Great Northern Link (Strabane Bypass). This project will also bring with it job creation and economic growth to an area of historic depravity.

Spearheading the delivery of the project will be the dedicated, vastly experienced and award winning staff of Manor Architects, Moneymore who have a proven track record of delivering quality, innovative projects on time and within budget. 1: Swifts were recently awarded an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) by Sport NI as part of an incentive to have a wider access to a defibrillator within local communities.

With no defibrillator in Victoria Bridge, Swifts approached the Principal of St Eugene’s PS with a view to stationing the defibrillator at the school. The photo shows Danny handing over the defibrillator to the new Principal of St Eugene’s PS, Gavin Gallagher, along with classroom assistant Stacey Preston and some of the pupils, including Dearbhail, Jason and Conor who attend both St Eugene’s PS and Sion Swifts.

Principal, Mr Gallagher commented, “We would like to thank Sport NI and Sion Swifts for allowing the school to accommodate this valuable piece of life-saving equipment within the school. We will in turn inform parents of children attending the school and indeed the wider community of Victoria Bridge that an AED is available at the school.”

Sion Swifts’ Danny Gallagher added “Hopefully the defibrillator will never be needed but they do save lives and with none available in Victoria Bridge we thought it prudent to place it at the hub of the community, St Eugene’s PS. Thanks to the out-going Principal, Ms Bridget Devine, the new Principal, Gavin Gallagher and the school’s Board of Governors for accepting the invitation to place the defibrillator at the school.

Swifts Under 14 NIBFA National League - Sion Swifts (4) - Bangor (0). Swifts welcomed Bangor to a frosty Melvin on Saturday and came away with all three points. An excellent performance from all 16 lads saw them run out 4-0 winners with goals from Oran Mc Grath, Lewis Quinn, Ronan Tourish and Joel Blackburn.

Pick of the goals was a 35 yard screamer from Oran Mc Grath finding the bottom corner and Lewis Quinn with a superb 25 yard swerved shot finding the top corner, both giving the keeper no chance. Thanks to all the support, special mention to the three lucky swift mascots Beth,Ross and Ben.

Fly Tying Club Fishing Competition The Bridge Guns & Tackle Fly Tying Club held their 1st annual Christmas competition at Birchwood Trout Fishery on Thursday 29th December, a great day was had by all! Competition was stiff resulting in joint winners in Sean Harte and Harry Whorriskey. Young Adam Boggs took first place in the Junior category, whilst Paddy Donnelly took home First Fish. Marty “Blanker” Donnelly took home a Mars Bar for failing to register a catch on the day. Well done to all involved! A special thanks to Steven Noble and Tony Mann for their help throughout the competition, and of course to Birchwood for hosting the event Our fly tying classes resume every Wednesday night starting on January 18th from 7pm to 9pm at the Ballycolman Allotments in Strabane.

North West Angling Fair After the massive success of last year, the North West Angling Fair returns to Melvin Sports Hall and the surrounding area on Saturday & Sunday the 8th & 9th of April.

The event will welcome a host of Tony Mann presents Paddy Donnelly with world class Fly Dressers, Casters and his prize for First Fish at the Bridge Guns & Angling Celebrities including Paul Tackle Fly Tying Fishing Competition.

Young or Gordon Armstrong and many more. Visitors to the event will have the opportunity to watch these fly dressers practice their art and fly casters demonstrating their techniques and tactics.

There will be something for all the family, from educational programmes delivered by the Loughs Agency, Youth Fly Tying Competitions, Cookery Demonstrations, Birds of Prey and much more. The Bridge Guns & Tackle will of course be back with our stall, including our hi-tech fishing simulator!

Strabane Sporting Club Christmas Shoot Strabane Sporting Club held their annual Christmas shoot on Sunday December 11th. It was a great shoot with over 50 guns trying their hand to claim top spot.

The Sporting Open went to a 4 way shoot off between Gordon Roulston, Gearoid Driver, Mickey McCurdy and Marcus Logue, but no man was good enough for the level of shooting that Gordon Roulston produced in taking top spot. 1st place, breaking clays for fun in effortless fashion.

Second and third place went to another shoot off between Mickey McCurdy and Marcus Logue. Both men displayed true class but in the end Mickey stamped his authority and claimed 2nd place with Marcus claiming 3rd. Well shot gents.

The pool stand went to a 5 way shoot off , but again it was Gordon Roulston with another fantastic showing for first place.

The club shoot was won by Pat Corrigan Novice was a joint affair for 2 young shooters, Kelan Reid & Michael McCurdy tying for first place Big thanks to everyone who attended, sponsored and helped out on the day!

New Season Approaches With the new fishing season drawing ever closer, The Bridge Guns & Tackle, Butcher Street Strabane has all licences available in store you will need to get back on the water.
