St Pius X College provided me with countless opportunities to grow and develop holistically as a person. The College fostered an environment where I formed a genuine group of mates. Some of my best memories at SPX were with them on the Snowy Hike and Tallows Retreat. Time away from academics was as important as studying. These experiences taught me valuable life lessons about resilience, teamwork and the importance of stepping outside my comfort zone.
My advice is to actively participate in the wide range of opportunities provided. Put consistent effort and practice into each subject throughout the year. From there, it is about being accountable for the work you do, taking as much feedback as possible and making genuine attempts to learn and improve from mistakes.
I found English challenging. To improve, I adopted a more disciplined and focused approach, which centred around creating a stronger set of notes and completing more practice questions. This allowed me to deepen my understanding of the prescribed texts while also familiarising myself with essay writing and responding to the types of questions commonly asked.
My HSC teachers displayed unwavering dedication and support. Their willingness to invest extra time into marking and providing feedback for my personal practice enabled me to accomplish what I did. Furthermore, I would like to thank my family for their constant support. Their guidance and support throughout academic difficulties allowed me to achieve my results.
In 2025 I will be studying a Bachelor of Actuarial Studies and Economics at UNSW.

“...it is about being accountable for the work you do, taking as much feedback as possible and making genuine attempts to learn and improve from mistakes.”
The HSC Class of 2024 achieved excellent results. The Dux for the year was Cameron Masters who achieved the outstanding ATAR of 99.75. Cameron was nominated as a State All Rounder along with eight other students – an excellent achievement which reflects the impressive quality of College education across a range of subjects. Greater detail will be provided elsewhere in this report but it is worth highlighting that there were five students with ATARSs above 99 and 29 students with ATARs above 90. Overall there were 124 mentions in the Distinguished Achievers List. The majority of subjects gained results above state averages – many well above. Other achievements of note included: Blake Markulin and Michael Krizan nominated for OnSTAGE; Daniel Formosa, Oscar Kalcher and Andrew May nominated for SHAPE in Industrial Technology and Michael Krizan nominated for Young Writer’s Showcase. These excellent results reflect our ongoing commitment to school improvement, and our continued support of students to achieve academic success.
We acknowledge the great effort by all Year 12 students and their teachers. Recent initiatives to support students include the use of the Senior Resource Centre as the Academic Annexe, with past St Pius X high achievers providing sound academic advice; recognition of the positive impact of our high calibre students (from Years 5 – 12) through our Upstanding Students Morning Teas, the extension of the Year 12 Study Skills programs to all years, and presentations by academic prefects at assemblies, as well as exemplary advice in subject selection.
