It’s been lovely to see the children outside and for us all to finally enjoy some glorious sunshine which we hope will continue for the remainder of the summer term. I hope you enjoy reading about the wonderful learning that took place in this week’s newsletter.

Next week we are all very excited to welcome two team GB athletes to school for a day delivered by Athletes in Schools. After a welcome assembly where the children will find out about the athletes' inspirational stories, the children will participate in a sports workshop delivered by the Olympic athletes Joel Fearon and Antony Cotterill.

Staff have been busy over the past few weeks working on classes for next year. The teachers spend considerable time and use their detailed knowledge of each child and how they interact and learn in the classroom environment to place them with great care where they can thrive

and grow. The factors used for class placement are: the mixing of existing classes to give children the chance to be with and get to know all of the peers in the year group; academic ability, ensuring a mix of ability in each class; social dynamics, factoring in that friends being together is not always productive for effective learning; existing friendships, but also the exclusivity of these and providing opportunities for forming new friendships, ensuring children know how to be inclusive and learn with all of their peers.

It is our ethos that every child is of equal value and our value of friendship describes being friendly towards everyone in our school community and working on nurturing friendly behaviour is something we constantly seek to help the children with doing. We cannot take requests from parents for class placements and appreciate your support in this process and your trust in the teachers' professional judgements. Class lists go through a thorough checking process and will be finalised and shared in the week after half term.

I attended a FOSP meeting this week and as always wanted to express huge thanks from myself, the staff and the children for all the Friends do for the school. This year funds raised by FOSP have purchased resources such as the balance bikes and Forest School overalls. They have put on a range of fabulous events for the children to enjoy and for the parents. The amount of work that goes on behind the scenes is immense both to raise the funds and to put together all of the events. I am very much looking forward to attending the ball on Saturday 18th May and then Clif Fest on Sunday 23rd June. You can find details of events later in the newsletter and do feel free to get involved with FOSP if you are able, all volunteers are welcome.

Have a lovely, sunny weekend!

SUMMER CAMPS 2024

As our wonderful Holiday Camp Manager, Miss Flockhart, is due to get married this summer, and a list of works taking place over the holidays, we have taken the decision not to run our own holiday camp in the summer of 2024.

We do however, want to ensure there is a programme of summer camps available for our parents and therefore will be piloting a new multi activity camp to be run by an external partner, United Education. We hope that this programme will complement our own camps in future years and offer an extended period of provision throughout the holiday period.

This camp will run for 3 weeks over the summer holidays, together with our usual Petersport programme, Cricket Camp and some of our external camps such as Creative Coliseum, All out Cricket, Sells Goalkeepers and Core Netball.

Please see HERE for a full round up by week of activities we are offering this Summer.

United Education

We are very pleased to be partnering with United Education, who offer a plethora of activities ranging from sports and arts to science experiments and more, ensuring that there’s something enticing for every camper. To find out more from them and for booking links, please see our dedicated page HERE.
