Wow, what a fabulous start to the week we had with the Whole School Concert at the Barbican Centre, York!

I am always amazed at how quickly the children pick up new songs, remember harmony parts and learn all the words and the choir who performed on Monday were no exception. They had a tricky week last week when my voice disappeared, having to really concentrate on their own parts and not be put off by others, all without any help from me!
The choir sang with such confidence, not phased by a different venue or a bigger stage. Mr Miles -Kingston commented at the end of their performance on what a lovely sound they made so a huge well done to every child in our choir. After we were treated to some lovely performance from the pupils at 8-13 and 13-18, it was time for the combined bands and Tequilla!
Our Year 3 instrumentalists definitely stole the show, great playing and even better dancing, they clearly enjoyed every minute of their debut performance with the 13-18 Swing Band and the 8-13 Mini-Jazz Band!
At the end of the concert we all joined together as one school to sing You've Got a Friend in Me. The pupils from the 13-18 Choir gave our pupils such a warm welcome onto the stage, there were lots of smiles and high 5's, the perfect end to a great evening!

Our focus this week is on nursery. We have moved onto gymnastics this half term, learning our fundamental shapes and movements.
In Acorns, we are using animals to describe our movements using key characteristics to create character profiles. Lions and snakes made a feature this week, which the children very much enjoyed.
Conkers looked at our core gymnastic shapes, which we use throughout the school to year 3. This week the children explored the straddle, pike, and tuck positions. The children then performed these by jumping off a bench, combining all the skills together.

We are looking forward to progressing our gymnastics through the term.
