Beth shares good news with 'Army' by Peter McMillan A woman with a rare form of cancer has been boosted by the news that tumours have begun shrinking following her first course of treatment. Beth Walsh, of Bath Road, said scans taken the day after the treatment revealed the good news. She thanked people who have contributed to a fundraising campaign to pay for her treatment run by friends and members of the public, named Beth’s Army. Beth, who has a son, was diagnosed with liver-dominant metastatic ocular melanoma – secondary liver cancer arising from a rare form of primary cancer of the eye called ocular melanoma (OM). There are only between five and six cases of OM a year per million people, with 45 per cent of those patients developing secondary liver cancer over the following 15 years.

Thank you and goodbye This is the final edition of South Worcester Voice. We would like to thank our loyal readers and advertisers for your support over the past four years. It has been a privilege to bring you news of the events, organisations and often inspiring people of south Worcester, Whittington and Norton-juxta-Kempsey. Together, as a community, we have lived through the extraordinary time of the Covid pandemic, an event which brought the best out of the people across our area, who lent a helping hand to their more vulnerable neighbours in a variety of selfless ways. If there had ever been any doubt if local people would rise to a challenge on such a scale you more than dispelled it. Once again, thank you for helping us to tell the stories of our area. It has been an honour.
