Walking through Holy Week Easter 2019

Join us to celebrate Easter Sunday 6am – Sunrise service followed by breakfast from 6.45am (come to both or just for breakfast!)

8am – Book of Common Prayer Holy Communion.

10.30am – Together@1030 An Easter celebration for all ages including Communion.

At St Peter’s we are offering a variety of services during Holy Week, which we hope will help us all to make the journey from Palm Sunday, to Good Friday and onto Easter Sunday, pausing to reflect along the way. We would love for you to join us for as many of these as you are able.

Services during Holy Week All services will take place in St Peter’s Church, unless otherwise stated.

Palm Sunday - 14th April 08:00 09.45 11.15 18:00

Holy Communion All Age Morning Worship with Communion Holy Communion Choral Evensong

Early morning services Tuesday 16th April 08:30 - Holy Communion.

In the Lady Chapel. A 30 minute said service, followed by tea/coffee.

Wednesday 17th April 09:00 - Morning Prayer.

In the Lady Chapel. A 30 minute service including prayer and Bible readings.

Maundy Thursday 18th April 10:00 - Holy Communion In the Lady Chapel. A 40 minute said service followed by tea/coffee and cake.

Good Friday 19th April 09:00 - Celtic Morning Prayer.

In the Lady Chapel. A 30 minute service including singing, Celtic liturgy, prayer and Bible readings.

Evening reflections Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 19:30 A short reflective service, including a short meditation on the Bible reading for the day, alongside music and silence. The same format will follow on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Maundy Thursday - 18th April 19:30 - Holy Communion service This service will be a time to reflect on the Last Supper and Jesus’ washing of his disciples’ feet on the night before he died. As part of this there will be clergy-led washing of feet or hands. There will be an opportunity to take part in this, and those not wishing to take part will be encouraged to quietly reflect during this time.

Good Friday - 19th April 10.45 – Walk of Witness (meet at either the Roman Catholic Church, or on Glapthorn Road or outside Waitrose). Processions will converge in the Market Place for a short service with members of the other churches in Oundle.

12:00 – A reflective Good Friday service with prayers, hymns and a talk.

16:30 - At the cross, this will be an opportunity for informal worship and preaching, with a time 4:30 to respond. All ages welcome.

Holy Saturday - 20th April The church will be prepared for Easter Sunday celebrations.

However, please feel free to come sit in the Lady Chapel for moment of personal reflection.
