OUR NEW DIRECTOR OF ELC

At the start of the year, we warmly welcomed our new Director of ELC, Liz Schembri. Liz is a highly-skilled teacher, successful leader and advocate for early childhood education. Her career includes teaching appointments at St Andrew’s School, Emmaus Catholic College and Holy Family Catholic School in South Australia, in

Upon her return to Australia, Liz spent two years teaching at St Francis de Sales College at Mount Barker before leading the team as a Professional Pedagogy Coach, mentoring and working alongside staff to implement inquiry learning into classroom practice. She then led the building and development of the new Alive Catholic addition to spending 10 years at the Beijing City International School where she trained in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) and was involved in the development of the School’s new Early Childhood Centre.

Early Learning Centre and was appointed as the Head of Early Learning, Alive (Mount Barker).

Liz says, ‘It has been an honour to join St Peter’s Girls’ School as Director of ELC.

It’s been wonderful to see the children in their learning spaces excited and eager to investigate, explore and connect with those around them. In my new role, I have had the opportunity to experience first-hand the atmosphere of warmth and inclusion that is present through interactions with staff and the careful planning that goes into creating the learning environments.

It is a privilege to be a part of each child’s learning journey. I am thrilled to be working in partnership with families and our amazing staff across the School, and I look forward to nurturing our thriving community.’
