With BTEC subjects constantly improving their “rigour” they provide a combination of preparing students to be assessed; externally, internally and complete work placement hours.
Students can study BTEC subjects alongside A-Level subjects.

Nearly all universities accept BTECs in relevant subject areas, similar to how they would with equivalent A-level qualifications.
BTEC students can often be better prepared in terms of the independent studying that’s required at degree level, due to the portfolio based nature of BTEC courses.

What will I study?
BTEC Health & Social Care is open to all students who have an interest in learning about the diverse needs and experiences individuals may face in their lifetime. The course enables students to reflect upon the world around them, and further develop their understanding on how Health and Social Care Services can be implemented to enrich the lives of others.
Across the two years students will be taught the following units:
Core units in year 9 and10:
Component 1: Human Lifespan Development internal exam
Component 2: Health and Social Care
Services and Values Year 10 internal exam
Towards the end of the academic year, students must attend a one week placement in a Health and Social Care setting.
Component 3: Health and Wellbeing
Year 10/11: external assessment
Throughout the course students will be given the necessary tools enabling them to work independently. In addition to this, students will be encouraged to participate in class discussions and presentations, gaining skills which can easily be transferred to any profession the student wishes to pursue.
Based upon feedback from our previous and current students, many have spoken highly about their work placements and commented how the opportunity to go into a Health and Social Care setting helped consolidate their learning.
