DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS
JOE CERMAK (773) 282-8844, ext. 230 jcermak@stpatrick.org
Dear Prospective Shamrock Families,
As the President of Saint Patrick High School, it is an honor and a privilege to lead my alma mater, an institution with such a rich history and commitment to the development of young men in the Chicagoland area. Our mission, rooted in the values of the Catholic faith, tradition and brotherhood is to guide each of our boys on his journey to becoming a man of integrity, purpose, and service.
At St. Pat’s, we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom. Our dedicated faculty and staff are not only educators, but mentors who are committed to nurturing the academic, spiritual, and personal growth of every student in the building. We understand the significant responsibility that comes with shaping the lives of these young men, and we approach this with great dedication.
Our promise to you, the parents, is simple yet powerful: we will always have the right people in place to care for your sons. We are committed to surrounding your boys with individuals who embody our values of compassion, integrity, and excellence. Our faculty and staff will challenge them to strive for greatness, support them in moments of doubt, and celebrate their achievements, both big and small.
We are dedicated to helping each student discover his God-given talents and passions, and to guiding him as he explores how these gifts can be used to make a positive impact on society. Whether in academics, athletics, the arts, or community service, our goal is to provide every Shamrock with the tools and experiences he needs to find his path and fulfill his potential.
As we carry out our mission each and every year at 5900 W. Belmont, we remain steadfast in our dedication to the principles that have guided us for over 164 years. With the support of our devoted faculty, staff, and parents, we will continue to inspire our students to lead lives of service and leadership, grounded in the teachings of Christ.
Thank you for entrusting us with the education and formation of your sons. Together, we will continue to build a legacy of excellence and faith that will guide generations to come.
Yours in Christ,
Dan Santucci ’02 President

Student Services
MULTI-TIERED SYSTEM OF SUPPORTS (MTSS)
Saint Patrick High School aims to focus on the WHOLE STUDENT. MTSS is a framework many schools use to provide targeted support to students with additional learning needs. The goal of MTSS is to intervene early so that students can catch up with their peers and ultimately succeed. Our student services program is designed to help our students grow academically, personally, spiritually and emotionally.
WHAT IS “EVERY SHAMROCK SUCCEEDS” (ESS) AT SAINT PATRICK?
ESS provides a means for educators and parents to collaborate and problem-solve individual students’ needs. It consists of a team of individuals who meet to discuss students’ needs, review assessment results, and develop plans to assist students in improving academically, emotionally, or behaviorally. Students’ needs may include needs related to reading, written language, mathematics, or other subject areas. Some students’ needs are related to their emotional well-being or behavior. The overall goal of ESS is to support students in need by intervening early, communicating often, and collaborating as a team to ensure your son’s success.
Faith. Tradition. Brotherhood.
Tools to thrive.
Saint Patrick High School is fortunate enough to have our own dedicated Therapy Dog, Patrick who visits a minimum of one day per week. Studies have proven that students bond readily with therapy dogs, feeling more connected and confident, which helps reduce anxiety and negative behavior in adolescents. Interaction with therapy dogs has also been found to cause a social catalyst effect, and this further helps improve the stimulation of social behavior. The relationship between a therapy dog and students helps develop trust in teenagers, and is more likely to help our students develop a broader capacity for empathy.
student-to-counselor ratio
compared to the Illinois state average of 522:1
Our school counselors are dedicated to the academic, personal, emotional and spiritual growth of the Saint Patrick young men. They meet each student where they are from the minute they enter our building to the day they walk across the stage. They challenge our students to reach higher. Freshmen students meet with their counselor almost immediately upon starting school and meet throughout the year to understand all of the different programs they can take advantage of, including Homework Club, Peer Tutoring, Organizational Skills, Study Halls, PSAT/ACT/SAT Test-Prep, and more!
COLLEGEPLACEMENT
100% of Shamrocks are admitted to one of their top three schools of choice.
The College Counseling Program at Saint Patrick High School is a comprehensive four-year program that helps students and families plan for academic success and college enrollment. The counselors work with students individually, in small groups, and in the classroom setting to teach basic life-long skills that are essential for academic, personal and career success. Topics include decision-making, study strategies, goal setting, career interests and many others. College counselors begin working with students their junior year, while grade-level counselors begin work with students immediately upon entry to the school. Topics addressed through college counseling include college visits, applications, essays, recommendations, early or regular admissions, scholarships, financial aid and more.

“ Over time and through the ups and downs, I started to understand the deeper values of Saint Patrick: faith, tradition, and brotherhood. I found faith in our monthly masses and religious retreats. I felt tradition in our school fight song and the energy of our world-class stud section. I built brother hood through sports and various clubs, especially in baseball and National Honor Society. Through these I discovered something else—my calling to lead.” - Patrick Levar ‘25, Valedictorian, University of Notre Dame

FAITH
Lasallian Education centers on Catholic values and personal relationships, emphasizing academic excellence, faith formation, inclusion, respect for the individual, service and social justice. A Lasallian Education strives to enrich each student’s cultural, intellectual, physical, social and spiritual development. At Saint Patrick High School, we follow the morals of St. John Baptist De La Salle and learn to touch the hearts of others and care for the least, the last, and the lost.
Campus Ministry is the faith outreach of our school. Getting involved allows the student to deepen his faith, affords him opportunities to serve the larger community, and deepen his belief in God, the Church, and society.
The Campus Ministry Staff, in association with teachers and other staff members, works hard to accompany our students on their spiritual journey. School liturgies, class prayers, Reconciliation Services, and retreats are some examples of the ways we have to constantly remind ourselves that we are always in the holy presence of God. They are also a means to touch our students’ hungry hearts as they continue to grow in wisdom, age, and grace before God and humankind.

FAITH IN ACTION
Many Saint Patrick students choose to serve our communities in a number of ways whether it be through the Lasallian Youth group or local service organizations, etc. Students are required to log 10 hours of service in the first semester and another 10 in the second semester.

GET INVOLVED IN THE LITURGY
Saint Patrick High School celebrates weekly Mass on Wednesday mornings at 8am in our School Chapel, as well as monthly Mass at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church (Freshmen Family, All Saints Day, Thanksgiving, Catholic Schools Week, Ash Wednesday, Founder’s Day, Junior Ring and Graduation.) Shamrocks are invited to participate as Cantors, Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers.
SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
The young men of Saint Patrick High School pride themselves on service to our community and participate in regular service projects for various partners including Feed My Starving Children, Alvernia Food Pantry, Louie G. Food Pantry, Special Olympics, Mission of Our Lady of the Angels, The Night Ministry, Chicago First Responders. Students are required to participate in one meaningful service experience each semester. These opportunities are led by upperclassmen in the school, and provide the student an opportunity to go beyond his comfort zone in order to serve the marginalized in society.
RETREAT OPPORTUNITIES
Saint Patrick students have many opportunities for spiritual growth. One such way is through the Retreat Program. Freshmen and Sophomores participate in a one-day, in-house retreat, facilitated by a retreat director, teachers, and peers. Juniors embark on a 2-day retreat overnight at LaSalle Manor in Plano, IL and seniors have the option to attend (and/or lead) a Kairos Retreat which is a four-day, three-night intensive experience where students take a look at themselves, their relationship to their neighbors, a look at God, and their response to God, especially through the person of Jesus Christ.
SAINT PATRICK TEACHERS ARE Student-Centered.
Energetic. Involved. Compassionate.
Saint Patrick faculty and staff are dedicated to helping transform boys into young men.
You will see them at social events, such as games and dances. You will find them moderating clubs. You will find them after hours helping students gain ground in subjects where they need additional assistance. You will find them leading retreats and attending service trips. They genuinely enjoy sharing in our student experiences.
“It has been incredibly rewarding for me to work with our guys both in the classroom and on the basketball court. These are smart, respectful, tough kids who truly look out for each other inside and outside of school. To be able to be a small part in their St. Pat’s experience is a tremendous privilege.

LIFE AFTER
Clubs and Activities meet before, during and after school, which means there is plenty of time to get involved in many ways, even if you are active in sports. In addition, classes begin at 9:00 am on Wednesdays so you have the chance to meet with teachers, coaches and moderators.

At Saint Patrick High School, it is easy to be involved in multiple extracurricular activities at once. We encourage our students to try it all, which ultimately helps them gain an understanding for peers they would have otherwise not interacted with and helps them develop a sense of purpose within our building.
THEATRE, NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.
Each year, Saint Patrick High School’s Theatre Department produces at least two productions, including a comedy or a drama. More than half of our actors come with no prior experience in theatre. A lot of our students are talked into participating by a friend, or encouraged by a teacher and in the process, discover they love it.

Saint Patrick launched the House System in 2023 to promote leadership, mentorship, camaraderie, and connectedness on campus. Since we are a Christian Brothers school, each house is named after a notable Christian Brother.
CONFIDENCE inspires LEADERSHIP
The HOUSE SYSTEM at Saint Patrick High School is made up of six houses, each led by faculty, staff, and elected student leaders. A House Director oversees the entire system and meets regularly with both staff and student leaders. Students remain in the same house and mentor group for their entire Saint Patrick journey, with immediate family members placed in the same house but assigned to different mentor groups. Each mentor group includes freshmen through seniors, allowing younger students to learn from older peers while older students serve as mentors. Groups typically consist of 20–22 students. Throughout the year, houses compete for points earned through service, activities, and school spirit, with the coveted “House Cup” awarded annually to the top house.

Faith. Tradition. Brotherhood.
Each week during advisory period, the entire Saint Patrick community comes together for Student Convocation. Led by students, this gathering serves as a space to share announcements, set expectations for the week, and celebrate the accomplishments of our Shamrocks. Convocation builds school spirit, keeps everyone connected, and empowers students to take ownership of their community.
Our upperclassmen brought the energy to close out Freshman Leadership Orientation with a spirited game of tug of war. It was the perfect way to end a week of fun, teamwork, and Shamrock brotherhood.
Where GROWTH BEGINS
LEADERSHIP ORIENTATION
At Saint Patrick, leadership isn’t about titles, it’s about integrity, responsibility, and making a positive impact. Freshman Leadership Orientation, guided by Shamrock student leaders, explores what it means to lead with character, communicate effectively, and work as a team. Students quickly learn that opportunities to lead are everywhere, whether in the classroom, on the field, through clubs, or in Lasallian Youth, and that true leaders inspire through action as well as words.
Upperclassmen take the lead at Freshman Leadership Orientation, helping new Shamrocks build friendships, navigate the building, and gain confidence as they begin their St. Pat’s journey.
Over the last 4 years, Saint Patrick has completed more than $4.5 million in facilities upgrades and renovations.

AFFORDABLE EXCELLENCE
At Saint Patrick High School, two of our Lasallian Core Principles, Inclusive Community and Quality Education, guide everything we do. A recent comparison of tuition costs among local Catholic high schools confirmed that we are the most affordable option on the Northwest Side of Chicago and the surrounding area, while continuing to provide the same hallmarks of a Lasallian education: academic excellence, faith formation, and a welcoming brotherhood for all who seek it.

“All seniors look not at St. Patrick as just a building, but rather as something real, alive, and warm. St. Patrick means more to us because we have seen the ‘new’ built out of the ‘old’. So we leave, and others arrive to take our place. So we fade away and others come into view. But always we shall call ourselves ‘Men from Saint Patrick.”
