Hello!

It’s been a tough year for event organizers. The weather this past weekend started out a little soggy, but quickly changed. By late morning on Saturday, thing s began to dry up. Temps and humidity were comfortable for the remainder of the weekend. As a result, events all over the region saw significant participation and attendance. I’d imagine every one just feels better after a weekend like that.

It was a welcome change!

The improving weather was a benefit to Roundhouse Harle y-Davidson in Duncansville as they celebrated their grand opening on Friday and Saturday. Atten dance was huge. See details and a few photos in this issue.

Rolling Thunder 2, a classic car and motorcycle rolling cruise, was a hit as well. Beginning and ending at the Jerome, PA fire hall, participants cruised the day away and then were treated to a post party with live music all evening. Wrestling Legend Road Warrior Animal was on hand for the day.

We’ve included some photos provided by Michael Rose of the Outsiders Car Club in this issue.

Another big annual event in Central PA is the Last Cruis e Invitational Car & Motorcycle Show in Downtown State College. The Last Cruise originated in 1985 when cruising in the downtown area was banned. Two radio announcers, Kevin Nelson and Wendy Williams, made an on-air plea to get as many people as possible to come cruise one last time.

That evolved into an annual event that includes a car show. This year, there was a really nice field of pre-selected entries, along with tons of foot traffic. The Last Cruise is a fundraising event that benefits the Youth Service Bureau, which provides some very valuable family-based programs to ensure that area youth fulfill their potential for growth and development. Check out the photo sprea d from the day in the pages of this edition of Rides!

An event, which has grown exponentially (mainly throu gh word of mouth) over the past few years, is the Cruise In at Bud Garvey’s Race Car Museum in Stum ptown (Osceola Mills). Cars from multiple states show up every year. You never know what you’ll see. Participants don’t leave hungry.

There’s always a lot of really well prepared food, which may be worth the trip alone! Mike Hawn attended the event and sent us photos to share with our readers. Be sure to check them out.

he Last Cruise Invitational Car & Motorcycle Show was held in Downtown State College on Sunday, July 30th. It was a bright sunny day with a light breeze keeping things just cool enough to make it a perfect day. A steady crowd wandered along two blocks of Allen Street all afternoon as they gazed upon the nicest field of entries the event has seen to date. There was an eclectic mix of autos and cycles – A wide range of years and manufacturers, bone stock to highly-modified. There was something for everyone.

The Best of the Best award, along with a $500 cash prize went to Jay and Joyce Rush

of Boalsburg for their pristine ‘69 Ford Torino GT. This year, a new award was added. The Alumicraft Pick 2017 was personally presented by Alumicraft Street Rod Grilles owner, Dan Baker, to Ryan Korek of New Berlin with his awesome pro-touring 1966 Mustang.

Ryan received trophy that was custom-machined by Alumicraft. The Crowd Favorite award went to Adam Leos of State College with a 1969 Plymouth GTX Hardtop. The Youth Choice Award was presented to Don Anderson of Steelton with his 2009 Ford Mustang 45th Anniversary Convertible.

cruise was held in the downtown area. Sunday evening there was a Cruisin’ Classics concert at the State Theatre featuring live music by Ramalama, Elizabeth Webb and The Spiders, Eric Ian Farmer & Rick Hirsch and Friends, along with Jackie Brown & The Gill Street Band.

BIG TURNOUT

for Grand Opening of Roundhouse H-D O

ver 4000 people came out for Roundhouse Harley-Davidson’s Grand Opening Celebration on Friday and Saturday, July 28 & 29, in Duncansville The Harley-Davidson truck was on hand.

Even with the rain on Friday, there were non-stop demo rides 9am-4pm (Friday and Saturday). Attendees were treated to a huge buffet catered by Marzoni’s, and the Texas Hot Dog truck was on hand as well.

There was no shortage of fun as guests were entertained with live music by Flight 19 on Friday evening, Felix & The Hurricanes on Saturday, while DJ Bill “The Wizard” Wilkinson was on hand both days.

On Saturday, the staff and Icon designer Thad Cunningham unveiled a Fatboy Special FLSTFBS that was customized in a Pennsylvania Railroad theme. The bike sold within 30 minutes of the unveiling! The weekend concluded with the Blair County Humane Society Bikers for Barkers Run on Sunday.

Rolling Thunder 2 M

ichael Rose of the Outsiders Motor Club reports that Rolling Thunder 2.0 was a blast!! Although the day started out with rain, the sun eventually peaked its face out and dried things up. They had about 40 cars and 85 bikes. The bikes and cars both left at the same time to go on their separate runs before returning to the Jerome Firehall for the after party. Road Warrior Animal rode passenger in one of the Outsider’s Cars.

The bands Van Waylon and Broken rocked the night away under the stars. Plans are already being made for ROLLING THUNDER 3!!! And, Yes, Road Warrior Animal will be returning as well as a bigger and better car and bike run!

The Outsider’s Motor Club wishes to thank all of their supporters, the bands Van Waylon and Brokken, The Jerome Vol. Fire Dept, Inco Beverage, Tom Porter and Road Warrior Animal (Joseph Laurinaitis) for helping us make this event a hit!
