강지은 (Kang, Jieun) 안녕하세요, 저는 이 동화를 만든 공동작가입니다. 그리고 제 이름은 강지은 입 니다. 저는 이 동화를 만들면서 제일 힘들었던 것은 협동하는 것과 언니들이 가 끔 다투는 것이었습니다. 왜냐하면 싸워서 시간이 부족해지고 기분이 나빠져서 협동이 어려웠기 때문입니다. 쉽지 않았지만 힘들어도 같이 이야기를 만들었습니 다. 저의 장래 희망은 요리사, 화가, 운동선수입니다. Hello, I am one of the co-authors of this story. My name is Jieun Kang. I had the most difficult time working together with my two friends and when they fought with each other. It was hard because after a fight, we didn’t have much time left and we felt bad.This made collaboration hard. It wasn’t easy but we created the story together. I want to be a cook, an illustrater and an athelete in the future.

김민서 (Kim, Minseo) 안녕하세요, 저는 이 동화책을 쓴 공동작가 김민서입니다. 저는 서울 관악초등학 교에 다니고 있습니다. 제가 이 이야기를 쓰면서 가장 힘들었던 점은 친구와 의 견이 맞지 않아서 싸웠던 것입니다. 가장 즐거웠던 점은 최희화 선생님과 친구들 과 같이 즐겁게 이야기를 나누면서 이 동화책을 만든 것입니다. 저는 다음에 또 기회가 된다면 또 동화책을 만들고 싶습니다. 감사합니다.
Hello, I am Minseo Kim. I am one of the co-authors of this book. I attend Seoul Kwanak elementary school. For me, it was difficult when we fought because we had different opinions. I had fun discussing and creating the story with our teacher and friends. If I have a chance in the future, I want to create another story.

손세희 (Son, Saehee) 안녕하세요, 저는 그림을 잘 그립니다. 그래서 저는 이 이야기의 그림을 그렸습니 다. 제가 제일 힘들었던 점은 친구와 싸울 때였습니다. 하지만 이야기를 함께 완 성해서 뿌듯했습니다. 저의 장래희망은 디자이너 입니다.
Hello, I am good at drawing. So I created illustrations for our story. The most difficult moments were when I fought with my friends. But, I am proud that we finally created the story together. I want to become a designer in the future.

옛날 옛적 한국에 장독대 성이 있었어요. 그 성에는 김치요정이 살았어요. 그 런데 김치요정은 한 번도 밖에 나가본 적이 없었어요. 하루는 김치요정이 아빠 에게 부탁했어요. "아빠 이제 밖으로 나가면 안돼요?" 아빠가 대답했어요. "그래, 너도 이제 다 컸으니 나가보아라. 하지만 우리 가 족에 대해 알아야 해. 그러니 꼭 김치 박물관부터 가거라." "와, 신난다. 네, 아빠!" 김치요정은 신이나서 대답했어요. Once upon a time, there was a Jang-dok-dae castle in Korea. And there lived a Kimchi fairy. However, she had never gone outside in her entire life. So, one day she asked her father. “Daddy, can I please go outside now?” Her father answered, “Okay, now that you are old enough, you may go out. But, you should learn about the culture of our family first. So, when you go out, make sure you visit the Kimchi Museum first.” “Yay! I will, daddy!” Kimchi Fairy answered feeling excited.

“흠, 어느 방향으로 가야 하지?” 집에서 나온 김치요정은 곧 길을 잃었어요. 그 때, 지나가는 아이들이 보였어요. “안녕? 너희들 어디로 가는 거니?” “우리? 놀이터로 가고 있어.” “놀이터? 알겠어. 알려줘서 고마워!” ‘ 놀이터가 어떤 곳이지? 궁금하다...’ 잠시 후, 김치요정은 놀이터 팻말을 발견했어요. “Hmm, which direction should I go?” Outside the castle, Kimchi fairy was lost. Then, she saw childen walking together. “Hi, where are you guys going? “Us? We are going to a playground.” “Playground? OK. Thanks for letting me know!” ‘What is a playgound? I am curious…’ Soon, Kimchi fairy found a sign written 'playground'.

놀이터에서 김치요정은 혼자 있는 아이를 발견했다. “어, 저기.. 나는 김치요정이라고 해! 너는 이름이 뭐니?” “안녕, 나는 드럼이야.” 드럼은 김치요정에게 물었다. “김치요정아, 그런데 너는 누구니?” At the playground, she found a boy sitting alone. “Hmm, Hi... I’m Kimchi fairy! What is your name?” “Hi. I’m Drum.” Drum asked Kimchi fairy. “Who are you, by the way?”

김치요정은 자신이 누구인지 잘 모른다는 생각이 들었다. “사실은 … 나도 잘 몰라 … 아! 김치박물관에 가면 알 수 있을 거야! 지금 당장 가야겠다. 너도 갈래?” “그래 같이 가자!” Kimchi fairy realized that she doesn’t really know anything about herself. “Actually, I don’t know very much about myself. Oh! I think I can find out if I go to the Kimchi museum! I should go there now! Would you like to come with me, Drum?” “Ok, Let’s go!”

잠시 후, 두 친구는 김치 박물관에 도착했다. “와! 여기가 김치 박물관이구나!” “우리 어디부터 가볼까?” 그때, 드럼의 배에서 꼬르륵 소리가 났다. “하하하, 배고프다고 배꼽시계가 울리네! 뭐 먹을 곳이 없을까?' ”어! 저기 뭔가 있다!" “그렇네! 어서 가보자!” Soon after, two friends arrived at the Kimchi museum. “Wow! This must be the Kimchi museum!” “Where should we look around first?” Suddenly, the Kimchi fairy heard Drum’s stomach making a big rumbling sound. “Hahaha, my stomach alarm is telling me that is is time to eat. Is there any place where we can get something to eat?” “Oh! I see something over there!” “You are right! Let’s go."

두 친구가 도착한 곳에는 김치 시식코너가 있었다. “냠냠" “음, 맛있다" 드럼은 김치의 종류가 궁금했다. “나는 김치의 종류도 알고 싶어.” There was a kimchi-tasting corner. “So yammy!” “Hmm, it tastes so good!” Drum became curious about different types of Kimchi. “I want to know about all kinds of kimchi.”

“여기 김치들의 종류가 궁금하니?" “네!" "그럼 김치 박사님께 가보렴" The Kimchi master asked,”Do you want to know about these Kimchi types? And the master of kimchi said, “Do you want to know about kimchi?” “Yes.” "Then, try finding a Kimchi master."

김치요정은 김치종류실을 발견했다. “좋아! 저기로 가면 알 수 있을 거야. 한 번 가보자.” 그 방에는 김치 박사님이 계셨다. “김치의 종류는 열무김치, 배추김치, 동치미, 갓김치, 오 이지 등이 있단다.” 두 친구는 김치에 대해 더 많이 알 게 되어 기뻤다. Kimchi fairy found an exibition room with all different types of kimchi. “OK! I think we can learn about them in that room. Let’s go inside.” In the room, two friends met a Kimchi master. “There are young radish kimchi, cabbage kimchi, dongchimi, mustard leaves kimchi, cucumber kimchi, and more,” said, the Kimchi master. Two friends were excited to learn more about kimchi. “Wow, Kimchi master, you are amazing! Thank you for telling us all about kimchi!”

두 친구는 김치박물관에서 재미있는 시간을 함께 보내었다. 하지만 슬프게도 벌써 집에 갈 시간이었다. Two friends had fun together at the Kimchi museum. But, sadly it was already time to go home.

김치 요정
둘은 함께 기념 사진을 찍었다. 김치요정이 말했다. “벌써 헤어지다니 너무 아쉬워.” 드럼이 말했다. “우리 다음에 또 만나자. 약속하는거야!” Two friends took a photo together to remember their day. Kimchi fairy said, “I can’t believe that it is already time to say goodbye.” Drum said, “I know. Let’s meet again in the future. Promise!”

김치요정은 장독대 성으로 돌아와 목욕을 하였다. 그리고 자기 전에 일기장에 오늘 하루를 써서 추억으로 남겼다. Kimchi fairy came back to the castle and took a shower. Before going to bed, she opened her diary and wrote about her day.
