It was a warm spring day, and Sina was happily buzzing across the flower meadow behind the beehive on the top of the ARCOTEL Hotel. Her friends Sandra and Susi were buzzing along behind her.
The three bees had set out to explore the most remote corners of the meadow because they had heard there were flowers there that smelled of chocolate. Of course they had to check it out!
“Sina,
wait for us!“cried Sandra, who had just got stuck on a thick dandelion. And Susi, who had got herself entangled in a thistle, grumbled, “Who invented these prickly things anyway?“
Suddenly they all heard a loud rrrip! - as if someone had torn a large sheet of paper and there was a strange light in the sky. Sina came to an abrupt halt and stared in the direction of the noise.
In the middle of the meadow a bee appeared that looked somehow . . . different.
The strange bee was wearing a colourful wreath of flowers and had wings that shimmered with all the colours of the rainbow. “I’m Bella. I’m a time traveller,“ the newcomer said mysteriously and smiled.
“I come from a time when the flower meadows were so colourful that you needed sunglasses! There were so many different flowers that you were always discovering new ones. But I accidentally nibbled on a time flower and unintentionally ended up here.“
“A time flower? What’s that?“ asked the three little bees curiously.
“A flower that lets you travel through time. And now I’m here, in a world that looks very . . . well . . . let’s just say not as cheerful as mine.“
Sina, Sandra and Susi looked around. They thought their meadow was beautiful, but they had to admit there weren’t really that many different flowers in it. “What was different in your time?“ asked Sina.
Sina, Sandra and Susi looked at each other with worry. “That sounds awful,“ said Sandra. “What can we do?“
““Oh, it was paradise!“ Bella beamed. “The meadows were a sea of colours. But at some point, people started to sow only grass, and so many of the flowers disappeared.“
“You can help people make the meadows more colourful again,“ Bella explained. “Collect flower seeds and spread them all around! Tell everybody how important it is for us bees to have many different types of flowers.“
“Yes, we’ll do that!“ the three friends promised..
But before they could fly off, Bella suddenly began to flicker. “ Oh no, I think the time flower is pulling me she cried.
“I wish you the best, and don’t forget what I told you! “ And with one final rrrip! she was gone.
Sina, Sandra and Susi looked at each other. “All right, girls, “ said Sina. “Grab your baskets. We have a lot of work to do. We’re on a mission! “
That evening they told all the bees in the hive about Bella from the time flower and her colourful world. And if you listen very carefully, you might just hear a little bee buzzing by as it busily spreads some seeds around.
If you want to help Sina, why not scatter a packet of ARCOTEL-seeds on the next meadow too? Ask for it at the Front Office!
