Confirmation
Last term, we were delighted to welcome Bishop John Arnold, Bishop of Salford, to Stonyhurst as he conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation on twenty-eight of our pupils, from Grammar and above.
Congratulations to those who took this important decision to become full members of the Church. May the Holy Spirit be with them and guide them in all that they do.

On Wednesday, we were delighted to welcome our friends from Newfield School to Stonyhurst, hosted by the Poets as part of their involvement in the Arrupe service programme.
The day began with a peaceful walk in the sunshine, followed by bird feeding around our beautiful grounds. After lunch, everyone took part in a lively wheelchair dancing sessionwith the parachute activity proving as always, to be a firm favourite.
This long-standing partnership between Stonyhurst and Newfield continues to be a source of joy, growth, and mutual enrichment. We are truly grateful for the special connection our schools share.

Arrupe News

Our pupils’ exchange trip to Paris kicked off with an exciting Day 1 at the host school, where our students received a warm welcome from their French peers. They joined physics and English lessons alongside their hosts, immersing themselves in the local school experience. After school, the pupils spent quality time bonding with their new friends before setting off to explore some of Paris’s most iconic sights. From strolling down the Champs-Élysées to marveling at the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, the day was filled with unforgettable moments. The evening wrapped up with a delicious outdoor dinner, shared laughter, and the beginnings of lasting friendships.
Day 2 took the group to the breathtaking Palace of Versailles. After a scenic morning journey from Montparnasse and a relaxing picnic in the palace gardens, we toured some of Versailles’ most famous rooms, including the magnificent Hall of Mirrors and the Galerie des Batailles For many of our pupils, it was their first visit to this historic site, leaving them awestruck by its grandeur and beauty. The day concluded back at the host school with a lively barbecue, celebrating the day’s adventures and the friendships that continue to grow.
