NOTES FROM Stonyhurst
From the HeadMaster
Dear Stonyhurst Families
Now that the exam season is coming to an end, we are bringing back our weekly newsletter. It has been wonderful to see so many families this term, especially over Great Academies. Great Academies this year was a true celebration of the Stonyhurst Family - a family like no other We have been so sad to see our wonderful Rhetoricians leave but we are so excited to hear of their plans and cannot wait for them to return to tell us about their universities, apprenticeships and in general their experiences and adventures over the coming years. We strongly encourage them to come back soon, whether for Mass or for a reunion or just to drop in to say hello and have a coffee at the Unicorn! They truly made this Great Academies one of the best yet We, with the whole Stonyhurst Community, wish them all the very best.
In other news, we have our Figures musical, Rudiments camp and LG CCF camp, as well as two Poetry trips to Paris, Poetry Unifest and soon Gold Duke of Edinburgh. In the midst of all this, pupils have been receiving their exam results and pupils have been working hard to get the best possible results in their next assessments.
With best wishes,

Annie

On Saturday, we were excited to experience the much-anticipated production of Annie. This marked Stonyhurst’s first ever pupil-led show, directed and produced by Poetry pupils Morgan and Clare.
This performance was the culmination of weeks of dedication, creativity and teamwork from a brilliant cast and crew who have taken charge of everything from choreography and casting to costumes and lighting
We are incredibly proud of everyone involved - their commitment and professionalism has been outstanding, and we loved to see their hard work shine on stage.

Line competition victory for Campion

An unforgettable evening at Stonyhurst as Campion claimed the Line Competition title after an outstanding year of achievement and spirit.
The celebration was marked by a black tie dinner in the Top Ref - a fitting setting for such a dominant performance With speeches from Mr Murphy and Line Captains Jemima and Peter, followed by Line awards and a triumphant chorus of We Are The Champions, the night captured everything that makes Campion such a force.
A well-earned victory

Rhetoricians
Rhetoricians have accepted their firm and insurance UCAS offers and now await their results. Many have received offers from competitive universities both here and abroad, including the University of Miami, US, Maastricht University, Netherlands, IE University in Spain, Oxford, Cambridge, UCL, KCL, Durham, University of St. Andrews, and University of Edinburgh, to name but a few Exciting degree apprenticeships have been secured in BAE and Virgin Media. One of our pupils has been busy attending interviews for apprenticeships at both the BBC and ITV.
Grammarians
Grammarians have created their CVs and had their mock interview with an external visitor. This is in preparation for the GR Futures Day later in June, when pupils complete Industry Insight workshops in Law, Humanities, Creative industries, Medicine, and Engineering

Poetry Unifest

Poetry Unifest was held in the College on Thursday, 12 June. Poets were off timetable to attend activities throughout the day to help them focus on pathways after Stonyhurst. After hearing from an admission officer from the University of Sheffield on ‘Writing a Winning Personal Statement’, our Poets had the opportunity to work on their own Higher/Further Education/Apprenticeship application with help from their tutors. Poets also had the option of attending a Study Abroad lecture, or a Degree Apprenticeship talk, all delivered by guest speakers who are specialists in those areas To end the day, Poets attended our Careers Fair where they could talk to representatives from International, local Universities, Further Ed. Colleges and Apprenticeship providers. th
