What are PolySto curbs made of?

Curbs used in food processing environments where hygiene is a priority should be constructed with materials that are chemical-, impact- and water-resistant. Polymer composite curbs and plinths provide a solution to the hygiene challenges posed by curbs composed of concrete.

Prefabricated polymer composite curb systems are made by mixing polyester resins and quartz granulates. They are then finished with a bacteriostatic and shock-resistant polyester gel coat surface. In the production of these curbs, a monolithic system is created by moulding together the polyester quartz mass with the polyester gel coat covering.

Both materials have the same chemical structure (polyester), which creates a strong curb that is easy to clean, water and chemical resistant and repairable.

sanicoat Used in high care zones PolySto Sanicoat is an impact-resistant, smooth gelcoat which is resistant to continuous water exposure. PolySto Sanicoat is very easy to clean with all regular cleaning products used in the food and clean room industry.

stainless steel The complete PolySto range is available in traditional reinforced concrete, covered by a high quality 0-0/10” AISI 304L Stainless Steel shell. Any other thickness or quality of steel is available on demand. End pieces and corners are pre-welded for a perfect and smooth finish.

PolySto Extreme Impact Problem Trollies, carts or bins used in food production facilities can often have sharp edges.

When these are heavily loaded and pushed around without care or attention, they have the potential to cause immense damage to walls, curbs or anything it hits.

Solution

A polyethylene strip installed on the curb is the perfect heavy-impact protection for areas with high internal traffic and constant impacts.

A polyethylene strip can be fitted easily onto our PolySto curbs by mechanical fix using stainless steel screws, using caps to cover off the drilling holes for a completely hygienic finish.

After years of intensive use and repeated impact, superficial damage may form on the surface of the curb. These scratches, stains and other marks can be removed effectively, using the ‘PolySto cleaner’. The PolySto cleaner can also be used for the cleaning of sealants.

Renew the gloss of the sanicoat surface with the ‘PolySto Polish’.

Curbs can be repaired using the ‘PolySto Repair Kit’ (2 component gelcoat kit). All tools required are included.

If needed, sealants can be replaced with Food Safe Sealant or HygiSeal 2-component chemical weld

Where heavy impact is likely, the ‘PolySto Extreme Impact’ solution is recommended. A PE-strip is installed on the frton of the curb.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

To obtain the best results, the installation area must meet the following minimum requirements. (We advise you to include these in your general sales or site conditions)

FLOOR - The area must be easily accessible.

- The floor must be level. (tolerance of 0.12” per 10 ft) - The floor must be clean and dry.

WALLS - The clip mounted angle steels on the hygienic walls must be removed as high as the curbs.

- The walls must be straight. (tolerance of 1.2” per 10 ft) - The walls have to be clean and dry.

PREPARATION The curbs are delivered packed on loading pallets. In order to unload the curbs in an efficient way, a pallet truck or crane has to be available.
