AREA: Entrance Stairway SQUARE FOOTAGE: 800 Square Feet LOCATION: Port Perry, Ontario AFTER THE CHALLENGE The concrete steps leading up to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church were spalled and damaged due to salt attack, as well as water ponding on the treads, creating an unsafe surface for patrons of the Church. THE SOLUTION Stonhard Construction Solutions levelled the treads and repaired the vertical surfaces of the steps with Stonclad UR. Stair nosings were installed to provide additional visual demarcation of the transition between the tread and riser, helpful to partially sighted patrons. Horizontal
surfaces were finished with StonWalk HD, providing a contrasting slip resistant safety surface for this high traffic area. Stonclad UR is a trowelled polyurethane mortar system that is chemical and abrasion resistant and designed for rapid installation.
