Stonhard Construction Solutions was invited to carry out repair work on Longo’s flagship distribution facility in Vaughan. This building has only been in operation since late 2010 and requires maintenance work in high traffic areas of the facility as part of the Longo Philosophy of Preventative Maintenance. Stonhard carried out a survey with floor measuring company Surface Dynamics Canada to determine the amount of movement in the floor and consequent repair strategy. Movement in the slabs was sufficiently high in a number of areas and required the installation of Stonhard’s unique Joint Stabilizer which is designed to provide positive load transfer between adjacent concrete slabs. In addition to the placement of Joint Stabilizers, 90m of failed caulking was found and 60m of spalling joints required repair.
24/6.5 rota. With a cleaning shut down occurring between 6:00pm Saturday evening to 6:00am Sunday morning, Stonhard needed to provide solutions that worked around this narrow window of opportunity. Joint Stabilizers, in combination with ultra-fast cure MMA Mortars, provided the solution to this difficult situation.
