More than 45,000 square feet of StonDeck XD2 and 5,000 square feet of StonDeck QD2/QD3 were installed in the underground parking facility of an 8 year old Condominium in Toronto, Ontario. The original decking system had failed in various areas allowing water to penetrate through the structure that had started to damage the underlying concrete.
StonDeck XD2 is a flexible, solvent-free car park deck coating system which provides a crack bridging, waterproof wearing surface for indoor covered parking decks, underground parking garages and walkways. It cosmetically enhances parking facilities while reducing tire noise and provides a lighter, safer environment for both vehicles and pedestrians.
Stonhard Construction Solutions undertook the entire project including the removal of the existing system, concrete repairs, corrosion inhibitor application, joint seal replacement and reinstatement of the deck waterproofing. The project was completed in stages to allow the majority of the parking structure to remain operational for the residents. This was made possible by the use of Stonhard’s unique StonDeck QD2/QD3 for areas requiring fast turnaround, including ramps and critical turning areas.
StonDeck XD2 is suitable for both refurbishment and new construction projects. The parking area is often the first point of call for a visitor to any public, private or commercial building. It is the “front door” of the building, while at the same time serving its primary functional role.
